  1. Radio at the end of the day is about satisifying your audience. Whilst alot of football enthusiasts like to talk X's and O's for some that is simply over their head. SEN has an older audience alot of whom would not understand everything someone like Plough has to say. David is excellent at giving a Seperate take but it doesn't make him better or worse. Just depends to what type of radio commentator you like. FWIW, you sound like a really bad 'red and blue' bloke.
  2. Hmm here's what I think you're looking at. James Strauss 1-2 weeks (leg) Max Gawn season (knee) Jack Grimes 1-9 week (long expansive ridiculously uncommon injury) Colin Sylvia 1 week (whiplash) Jack Watts 1 week (acting career) Tom Scully career (knee). There's only one on the list I'm hoping for!
  3. Absolutely brilliant idea. I personally cannot fathom how people say Davey is such an elite kicker. The man stabs at every kick and he squibs so many for crucial turnovers its not funny. Yes when he gets it right the man can kick a ball but his consistency is poor and the truth is 8 of his 10 kicks go less than 30 meters anyway.
  4. All in all, pretty disappointing for mine. I understand we are looking for the best deal and shouldn't rush to simply sell jumpers, but it does come across poor to the supporters who'd love a new one or to buy one as a gift and even more so to the outer public who see only 2 clubs- Melbourne and Port without a second major sponsor.
  5. Bailey's puzzle was structured in a way that we lost by 186, lost to Richmknd and Port Adelaide and was nearly beaten by Gold Coast. My understanding is whilst he may still have some pieces it's a whole different situation down there.
  6. It's funny but I really feel like Neeld has come in with a empty jigsaw box- he knows what the end result is but just didn't have the pieces. Slowly but surely it looks like he's finding one by one. I'm not expecting finals or making outlandish statements but to me every piece written about us now is positive and that is because I think others realise the upward direction the Dees are finally taking.
  7. Again this is well and good in perfect principle but doesn't seems to be the biggest overkill ever. Nathan Bock was in a forward line with arguably 5-8 other blokes who could all kick goals. The other team also had this corresponding number of potential goalkickers. Let's take the option of this bet out of the game not blame a person for suggesting he is playing a new position and potentially excited about thus mentioning it to his close friends. Is Tyson Goldsack not allowed to tell his parents he was playing in the grand final to keep it a secret? This is real life and footballers are real people. Our expectations are stupid.
  8. Sadly have to agree. Once Austin has gone home there is a close to zero chance I see him putting his mind into footy. He has made it quite clear in his actions he is more comfortable with going home and settling back into the community. Absolutely nothing wrong with it; it's been a tough few years and each is able to make their own life decisions but that is how I read the situation.
  9. Have you read the article WYL? He didn't know his friend had put money on it- he simply realised the day after that something may have happened and thus informed the needed sources. Heath Shaw put a physical bet on, all Nathan has done has unfortunately mentioned he would be playing in the forward line. These days that is considered the wrong thing and a 2 match penalty was given. You want to fine him 50,000 to make a statement. All well and good to make these huge statements but you're punishing a man's life for a slip of the tongue as opposed to a physical action he intentionally committed.
  10. You're kidding me. Not a GC or Bock fan in the slightest but jeez give him a break. The man has taken absolute 100% responsibility for his actions, fully backed the AFL stance on betting and stated how much he is behind the actions they are taking. Not only did he do that he also alerted authorities the weekend that the alleged offence occured. And you think he's hard done by. What about Maxwell who took no responsibility, got no weeks and told no-one about his indiscretions until it was bought on him. Think he specifically needs to be commended and at least the AFL is stepping in the right direction.
  11. From recollection the teams came out at 5-5.30 whereas they have changed it until 6.15 now as the set time. My guesstimate is that clubs like Melbourne will use the text function to members to let them know of the ins and outs earlier than that through some loop hole. We won't miss out.
  12. Exactly WYL. Just because we have good shouldn't mean we should settle. If we can get a Lexus Centre esque facility I'd be more than happy to train there. We'll never leave games from the G so no big problems.
  13. I love how the camera angle hides the fact we don't have a second sponsor yet. Hopefully it'll be soon!
  14. J Not sure if serious. Every topic on this board ends up talking about Tom Scully and it's the one where we are talking about someone in the firing line where you complain? Fwiw, Bennell Bartram Dunn Spencer (could be in trade) MacDonald Green- retirement. edit- Lawrence will be gone off rookie list also.
  15. Newton, Alistair Nicholson, Fitzy and Todd Viney?
  16. With some players in the past and I'm hoping Sellar will be an example of this, being delisted can really make one reevaluate and strive to get the best out of themselves. The moment he got delisted James had to go back to thinking about finding a normal job, training, getting work skills etc. etc. The fact Melbourne have given him another opportunity I'd think he would so grateful and so certain to not want to find himself back in that situation he'll do everything possible to rectify his earlier career flaws. Sellar's career has been interesting in the sense that he was initially valued a top 3 pick and maybe expected his natural ability would bring him success for his career. Now he's had that pain and fear of the unknown; I and i'm sure Melbourne are both hoping he comes out and shows why so many originally rated him so highly. Good luck James. I have faith!
  17. I was already replying so I missed this one but I'll explain my thoughts. In the article "Lift your game,..." in the HS there are 4-6 paragraphs of Neeld stressing Watts needs to get over being on the Footy Show and doing Energy Watch commercials and get to know his training staff. Reading it became increasingly obvious that he was suggesting Watts' training ethic is not good enough. He than insinuates that '40 game players' shouldn't be doing all these commitments. JW isn't a 40 game player. He's a 40 game player 1st pick. Rohan Bail is a 40 game player was Neeld going to come out and say the same about him. Look probably not. Neeld has used big name targets to appear to be the big bag ogre coach. Everyone loves it so it seems to be doing something good around the club but I just hope he knows where to draw the line that's all.
  18. I didn't expect everyone to agree with me I was just posting that I thought he may be pushing it. Each to their own. What I do like however is this paragraph here: ''What is my broader philosophy? I was told with the media training whatever you do don't make a big statement, and so the first thing I said was 'I wanted to coach the hardest team to play against', so I failed media training. I want to coach competitors, I want to have a competitive team. So does every coach, I am aware of that, and my role is to instil competitors in the player group and to back it up with selection.'' Appears Mark doesn't give a sh*t about following what he's meant to do. By this statement he's putting his neck on the chopping block and hoping his soldiers come to the party to save it. I love that he is risking himself and trusting that his troops will do the rest.
  19. I love Neeld however to an extent what he is currently doing is also intriguing me. I don't expect all to agree but this is just my opinion. Mark is making a noticeable effort to be heard and seen everywhere. This is great. My qualm is that every quote seems to be publicly humiliating someone. J Watts receives enough crap from the media as is it's the coaches job to advise behind close doors and than praise in the public arena. I think Neeld is going over the top to some degree to look like that hard nosed guy and I hope it's not to the detriment of being disliked by the players for his public bashings.. I do understand the aboves saying its a good thing to publicly pressure but I cannot recall MM or Chris Scott calling out one of their players once..
  20. Makybe Divas mouth. I'll try and find out Mitch Clark and others and report back
  21. Heheheh. I feel like a schoolboy meeting his first girl listening to Mark Neeld. Finally some leadership!
  22. Find out if any other players changed numbers? McDonald, Strauss, Gawn etc?
  23. Interestingly he was at Melbourne training today. Is it possible to be re-rookied?
  24. Part truth part lazy reporting. James has been doing a full weights workout essentially since 3 weeks after the injury and has been on the bike since basically the same day. His fitness base would be fantastic however he hasn't started full blooded running until next week.
