  1. Sorry, but your analogy has one major flaw... since when do elephants have chicken bone?
  2. Oh, I understood the sentence in its original form, but I'm still have trouble understanding how you can reconcile a statement that essentially calls the supporters gutless and accepting of failure, with: "honest punters who only have best intentions and are continually let down."
  3. How do you reconcile that with your earlier statement: "We're happy being pathetic, supporters accept it not many have the guts to challenge it." A career in politics awaits.
  4. Why do you think he would be living in the west? With the road systems that are there now, it's not that much of a drive from anywhere.
  5. Yep, you can really get a great feel for a city and its environs by the time you're 11 years old. And then a whole weekend to reaffirm your childhood impressions? Can't argue with that
  6. Depends on which parts of Sydney you see RF. For example, I work in Gordon which is on the upper north shore and it is a beautiful area with lots of bush and parkland... love my lunchtime walks. There are other areas that are equally as nice with some spectacular views, nice tasteful houses and gardens and out of the mad rush. The thing that Sydney lacks (but is finally improving in) are equivalents to Melbourne places like Ackland (sp?) Street, Brunswick Street, Lygon Street (although Leichhardt and Habberfield are getting there), Victoria, Sth Melbourne and Prahran Markets etc (I really miss Victoria Markets on a Saturday morning). For residential areas outside the CBD though, I would rate Sydney ahead of Melbourne. Really, I could live quite happily in both places... but I suppose the advantage of living in Sydney is that when I visit Melbourne I tend to take a lot more advantage of what it offers, than if I was living there (in which case you tend to take a lot for granted).
  7. Well, it's patently obvious that you have also spent little or no time in Sydney yourself TD. Having lived in Melbourne for half of my life and Sydney for the other half, although I still prefer Melbourne, there are places up here that are unmatched by anywhere in Melbourne. It's a shame that this ridiculously unwarranted Sydney/Melbourne rivalry still exists in the minds of a few.
  8. Say what? How on earth is this "protecting his reputation"? If they were really interested in protecting his reputation, they would never have allowed that press conference in which he asserted he has not been approached etc etc. If they were really interested in protecting his reputation, they would never have tried to convince him to do a follow-up press conference (that he refused). If they were really interested in protecting his reputation, they would not be allowing this to drag on any longer, as it serves no ones' interests. If he does go, then his reputation is shot regardless of when the announcement is made... the first press conference saw to that. Sorry, but I rate your view as being right up there with the "single gun theory".
  9. Did she have her five daughters with her by any chance?
  10. Last category for me; I'm a firm believer in the old "innocent until proven guilty" axiom (would hate to be judged by a jury comprising certain of my peers from Demonland).
  11. He's retiring? Curses! You beat me to it JCB :-)
  12. One observation from this thread... and that is that I would hate to think what some posters would be like under pressure in a real life situation. maybe a little perspective is required... we are discussing a kid who plays a game and who is deciding which team he is going to play with. Whatever the outcome, it is hardly worth some of the angst that is on display here.
  13. There is nothing in there that says he has committed to GWS... yes, it is most likely, but no official statement has been made by anyone. Scully has not made any statement yet either, but that has not stopped that site from reporting he will be Captain of GWS.
  14. Agree! Scully has consistently stuck by his word from day one of the media speculation. He categorically stated that he would not be giving the issue his consideration until after season's end, and that is exactly what he has done. He has not held the club to ransom or played games... the only games that are being played here are going on in the minds of a few posters; the same goes for the displays of "petulance". If he goes he goes, and if he stays he stays... regardless of the outcome, he at least has done nothing he didn't say he would.
  15. Little wonder the great man shot himself.
  16. Will be interesting to see how closely it matches the Bluey results. However, I'm guessing Moloney may have done enough yesterday to secure the gong just pipping Jonesy on the post.
  17. Am I the only one who saw Jones get the best goal of the game thus far?
  18. Well, let's just hope that your predictions re Scully leaving, are as on the mark as your knowledge of American presidents... he was known as "Honest Abe", but I think you might find it was Washington who never told a lie ;-)
  19. And what a dismal figure Joffa cut in the stands... I felt a pang of sympathy... Not!!
  20. Wouldn't it have been simpler just to clone the August thread and re-title it?... that would have saved everyone the trouble of having to retype the same comments yet again.
  21. Word for the day Rhino... "comprehension" Re-read my post and you will see that I was not talking about Fev's finals experience. I was talking about the fact that maybe he could help get us to the finals... it would then be our younger brigade who would be gaining the aforementioned "invaluable finals experience".
  22. Not I... but I do believe we may be just a Fev away from a finals position and some invaluable finals experience for the younger brigade of players.
  23. I believe we would lose nothing by throwing him a lifeline with a senior rookie position and a zero tolerance contract; who knows, it may even pay off. I know many will think I'm on crack, but I tweeted the following (and urge any like minded people to copy and paste and do the same): "@DemonsHQ No one is beyond redemption; give Fev a rookie spot, a zero tolerance contract and a go! He has given his all and more, for Casey!" Most likely will fall of deaf ears (or should that be blind eyes), but as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  24. Jones stepped up from what was generally a very good season last year, but Martin came from absolutely nowhere to a starring role. Martin easily... despite the fact I think Mr Consistency Jones probably has the Bluey just about sewn up.
  25. Yes, I think LJ's cause was not helped by the fact that his team mates were bombing it long to him, meaning he had no choice but to either go for the big grab, therefore risking the inevitable injury, or shirk the contest (which he did choose to do on occasion when his confidence was at its lowest ebb). If the midfield can allow him to use his pace and send it to him low enough to hit him chest high on the lead, then he will have a much more productive year next year as he will be able to involve himself in far more contested situations at ground level where he has a distinct advantage with both his pace and agility.
