  1. You're right DC... I made that comment with a vague recollection of the falafel reference but forgot the context. My mistake and apologies.
  2. Yes, Balmain... what a slum!! Well, we live in Dulwich Hill in a humpy situated on a garbage tip where I get my kids to forage for scrap metal and other items that can be sold, so that we can afford bucket loads of KFC and Maccas; what hope do we have of living the "westie" dream if the kids can't attain pre-pubescent obesity?
  3. Yes NB, I actually raised that very point a few pages earlier :-)
  4. Yes, I work in Gordon (the old Sun building) and live in the Inner West... still has the word "west" associated with it, so I suppose according to some here, I'm a slum dweller :-)
  5. Blacktown actually, I think you will find :-)
  6. Looking at the Sheedy quote, I wouldn't think his confidence is particularly high re Scully signing on... "GWS coach Kevin Sheedy was confident his club would boast a strong midfield, even if Scully decides to stay with the Demons. "We've got four or five boys (midfielders) training already that are very capable of playing league footy next year," Sheedy said. "All of a sudden you're looking at about a dozen players in the midfield. If he's one of them, then so be it."
  7. Yep, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of ignorance there is when it comes to perceptions of Sydney's western suburbs; for example, this whole Blacktown/Falafel connection (saw it used in here a few pages back)... apart from the racist overtones, I think when Eddie said it, he was probably confusing Blacktown with Bankstown (where there is a large mid-eastern population), yet people still persist with it here. Go figure.
  8. Ok, then that makes perfect sense; and in addition, it refutes Diablo Demons' claim that the club and supporters are gutless (an assertion for which I have already taken him to tusk) - we're eating every scrap of that elephant.
  9. Sorry, but your analogy has one major flaw... since when do elephants have chicken bone?
  10. Oh, I understood the sentence in its original form, but I'm still have trouble understanding how you can reconcile a statement that essentially calls the supporters gutless and accepting of failure, with: "honest punters who only have best intentions and are continually let down."
  11. How do you reconcile that with your earlier statement: "We're happy being pathetic, supporters accept it not many have the guts to challenge it." A career in politics awaits.
  12. Why do you think he would be living in the west? With the road systems that are there now, it's not that much of a drive from anywhere.
  13. Yep, you can really get a great feel for a city and its environs by the time you're 11 years old. And then a whole weekend to reaffirm your childhood impressions? Can't argue with that
  14. Depends on which parts of Sydney you see RF. For example, I work in Gordon which is on the upper north shore and it is a beautiful area with lots of bush and parkland... love my lunchtime walks. There are other areas that are equally as nice with some spectacular views, nice tasteful houses and gardens and out of the mad rush. The thing that Sydney lacks (but is finally improving in) are equivalents to Melbourne places like Ackland (sp?) Street, Brunswick Street, Lygon Street (although Leichhardt and Habberfield are getting there), Victoria, Sth Melbourne and Prahran Markets etc (I really miss Victoria Markets on a Saturday morning). For residential areas outside the CBD though, I would rate Sydney ahead of Melbourne. Really, I could live quite happily in both places... but I suppose the advantage of living in Sydney is that when I visit Melbourne I tend to take a lot more advantage of what it offers, than if I was living there (in which case you tend to take a lot for granted).
  15. Well, it's patently obvious that you have also spent little or no time in Sydney yourself TD. Having lived in Melbourne for half of my life and Sydney for the other half, although I still prefer Melbourne, there are places up here that are unmatched by anywhere in Melbourne. It's a shame that this ridiculously unwarranted Sydney/Melbourne rivalry still exists in the minds of a few.
  16. Say what? How on earth is this "protecting his reputation"? If they were really interested in protecting his reputation, they would never have allowed that press conference in which he asserted he has not been approached etc etc. If they were really interested in protecting his reputation, they would never have tried to convince him to do a follow-up press conference (that he refused). If they were really interested in protecting his reputation, they would not be allowing this to drag on any longer, as it serves no ones' interests. If he does go, then his reputation is shot regardless of when the announcement is made... the first press conference saw to that. Sorry, but I rate your view as being right up there with the "single gun theory".
  17. Did she have her five daughters with her by any chance?
  18. Last category for me; I'm a firm believer in the old "innocent until proven guilty" axiom (would hate to be judged by a jury comprising certain of my peers from Demonland).
  19. He's retiring? Curses! You beat me to it JCB :-)
  20. One observation from this thread... and that is that I would hate to think what some posters would be like under pressure in a real life situation. maybe a little perspective is required... we are discussing a kid who plays a game and who is deciding which team he is going to play with. Whatever the outcome, it is hardly worth some of the angst that is on display here.
  21. There is nothing in there that says he has committed to GWS... yes, it is most likely, but no official statement has been made by anyone. Scully has not made any statement yet either, but that has not stopped that site from reporting he will be Captain of GWS.
  22. Agree! Scully has consistently stuck by his word from day one of the media speculation. He categorically stated that he would not be giving the issue his consideration until after season's end, and that is exactly what he has done. He has not held the club to ransom or played games... the only games that are being played here are going on in the minds of a few posters; the same goes for the displays of "petulance". If he goes he goes, and if he stays he stays... regardless of the outcome, he at least has done nothing he didn't say he would.
  23. Will be interesting to see how closely it matches the Bluey results. However, I'm guessing Moloney may have done enough yesterday to secure the gong just pipping Jonesy on the post.
  24. Am I the only one who saw Jones get the best goal of the game thus far?
