  1. Well, let's just hope that your predictions re Scully leaving, are as on the mark as your knowledge of American presidents... he was known as "Honest Abe", but I think you might find it was Washington who never told a lie ;-)
  2. And what a dismal figure Joffa cut in the stands... I felt a pang of sympathy... Not!!
  3. Wouldn't it have been simpler just to clone the August thread and re-title it?... that would have saved everyone the trouble of having to retype the same comments yet again.
  4. Word for the day Rhino... "comprehension" Re-read my post and you will see that I was not talking about Fev's finals experience. I was talking about the fact that maybe he could help get us to the finals... it would then be our younger brigade who would be gaining the aforementioned "invaluable finals experience".
  5. Not I... but I do believe we may be just a Fev away from a finals position and some invaluable finals experience for the younger brigade of players.
  6. I believe we would lose nothing by throwing him a lifeline with a senior rookie position and a zero tolerance contract; who knows, it may even pay off. I know many will think I'm on crack, but I tweeted the following (and urge any like minded people to copy and paste and do the same): "@DemonsHQ No one is beyond redemption; give Fev a rookie spot, a zero tolerance contract and a go! He has given his all and more, for Casey!" Most likely will fall of deaf ears (or should that be blind eyes), but as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  7. Jones stepped up from what was generally a very good season last year, but Martin came from absolutely nowhere to a starring role. Martin easily... despite the fact I think Mr Consistency Jones probably has the Bluey just about sewn up.
  8. Yes, I think LJ's cause was not helped by the fact that his team mates were bombing it long to him, meaning he had no choice but to either go for the big grab, therefore risking the inevitable injury, or shirk the contest (which he did choose to do on occasion when his confidence was at its lowest ebb). If the midfield can allow him to use his pace and send it to him low enough to hit him chest high on the lead, then he will have a much more productive year next year as he will be able to involve himself in far more contested situations at ground level where he has a distinct advantage with both his pace and agility.
  9. I would say that most of the playing group put in yesterday, but it seems that our young and virtually untried players, should be better than the Suns' young and virtually untried players purely because the Suns are the new kids on the block. It seems to be quickly forgotten that the Suns had a number of top 10 draft picks as well as a few seasoned/hardened players such as Ablett and Brennan (who is playing the best and most consistent football of his career at the moment). Of course they were bound to improve over the season and the fact that we beat them by just five goals is probably less of a reflection on our effort than it is a reflection of their inevitable improvement. But if you like, I can tweet a few players and request that they send you a personal apology? ;-)
  10. 6 . Blease 5 . Jones 4 . Garland 3 . Bennell 2 . Green 1 . Trengove
  11. Nice...just installed and working perfectly from my iPad. Thanks!
  12. Yep, it seems you are not alone in that regard.
  13. My nose is hardly "out of joint". You might be surprised just how well regarded Bate, Dunn and Warnock are outside (particularly Bate and Dunn). I would say that Petterd is definitely necessary depth... tell me who you consider to be currently good forward line depth at the club? Most of our forwards have gone missing, so why single out Petterd? Why not suggest Jurrah?... he would have far more currency and he has some major flaws in his game... does X factor cut it and make him an untouchable? And not just forwards...what about Davey? What about Sylvia? What about Rivers? What about Moloney? All of these players have more currency than Petterd and all of them go missing from time to time and usually when they are needed most. Maybe you weren't concerned about the possibility of Petterd going to the GC, but I can assure you that many were... just go back through the forums.
  14. Well, first the trade Jones thread and now another pointless thread suggesting Petterd be offered up just one season after we were all wringing our hands and fretting over the possibility he could end up at the Gold Coast - regardless of what any one of us might think, I somehow doubt the club will be keeping an eye on this thread to get a feel for what they should do during trade week. The old gotta give to get. Well, yes... but at the same time, you do not shoot yourself in the foot by giving away quality in an area where depth is necessary. If (and in my opinion it is a big "IF") Scully goes, and I assume we will know before trade week, then we have a couple of high picks we can use as leverage in trade deals using players like Dunn, Bate and Warnock who have some currency but need a sweetener to swing a possible deal.
  15. Tweeted earlier by DemonsHQ: DemonsHQ Melbourne FC Club great Robbie Flower will be a special panel member on @Marngrook tonight at 7.30pm on ABC2.
  16. Laughable to consider trading Jones, full-stop!
  17. Semantics :-) However, we could find that the knee issue may have reduced his currency at GWS, so my wording may yet prove to be accurate.
  18. Scully will be paid whatever the club think it is worth paying him to remain at the club; nothing that you or I or anyone else say matters. And for what it's worth, it was reported some time ago on AFL360 that Mark Robinson (I think it was) put the question to Trengove (informally - off camera) re whether large discrepancies between TS and the rest of the playing group would create divisions/disharmony, and the answer was "no"... they have no issue with it.
  19. Now this thread is a real surprise... not!! Demonland posters having Green with one foot out the door and off down the road. If my memory serves me well (and it occasionally does), Green was adamant he would be a one club player and I am pretty sure that the Dees will be doing all in their power to ensure that that is the case; we are already very thin on the ground when it comes to experienced/mature players. I think you will find that Green will be relieved of the Captaincy (more than likely with his own blessing) and that he will be offered a fair and reasonable contract (to compensate) that will see him play out his career at the Dees. It is obvious to even Blind Freddy and his dog that the Captaincy has had a big affect on his game, on the back of one of his best seasons in 2010; without the burden next year, he will quickly regain his mojo.
  20. Yeah, just like me and my identical twin brother who is three years older than me :-)
  21. To a point you are correct... there are a lot who have given up worrying about his final decision, but equally, there are many now who consider his departure a "fait accomplis" and are starting to post some unnecessarily venomous and vindictive comments based on nothing but hearsay and innuendo, but very little in the way of fact.
  22. 6 Sylvia 5 Jones 4 Frawley 3 Bennell 2 Jamar 1 Blease Jones and Sylvia were all class today. The funny thing is that Jones is in our top 5 players almost every week (including games against the top teams), yet there are so many here who are only too eager to focus on his errors and overlook his workrate and assists. The fact of the matter is, Jones is probably now either 1 or 2 in the race for the Bluey.
  23. Ok, now I get it... women are fair game; testosterone rules!
