  1. Considering that was your 69th post it is probably appropriate that it "sucked"... I know for a fact that Satyriconhome is actively involved in the club and would be the last person to try to turn support away from the club. What is your involvement?
  2. Go back and read your post and you might see why Nasher made the comment... seriously.
  3. Of that list, I would love to see Van Berlo and Thomas with Le Cras as someone who could seamlessly move between the midfield and the forward line. Well...I can dream can't I?
  4. Let's not kid ourselves... yes, this is a ridiculous article (well, unoriginal and no more enlightening than all before it), but kids like Watts will read these articles and over time will start to take note of the encouragements to seek greener pastures elsewhere so that they can taste success. That IS a cause for concern.
  5. Elite... I suppose that's the equivalent to A+?
  6. Are you saying that Cale Morton had...
  7. I take it you didn't read the first page of this thread? Even the first post hinted with "Good news coming" and by post 9, it was out that he had signed a three year contract.
  8. So I take it you are a swinging voter and a swinging supporter? Makes sense considering the content of most of your football related posts.
  9. The club deserves every bit of criticism it deserves (and that is plenty without having to go inventing scenarios simply to justify putting the boot in). Should Port have rested Wines after round 1? After all, both he and Toumpas have had experience playing against the senior ranks - yes Wines has a bigger body, but both are not new to senior football. I might be wrong, but I don't recall seeing anything posted by you making such an observation when he was named in the round 2 side... 20/20 hindsight?
  10. So do I... your point?
  11. Sorry, you'll need to explain - I'm a little slow
  12. Jones was in a similar place to that which Watts finds himself in now, in that all and sundry on the forums were baying for his blood, calling for him to be traded, referring to him as a 'C' grade player with no future and so on... this went on until about three seasons ago when things started to click and the rest is history. Let's not allow Toumpas suffer the same fate as Watts. Unfortunately in this new age of instant gratification and fast food, too many expect players to be ready to go 'out of the box', plug 'n play, served up in 2 minutes or you get one free. Too many just don't get that the vast majority of great players took/take time to mature. They often are the players whose value can become the greatest because they have had to put in the hard yards, take the knocks and abuse and as a result have built strength of character which can be as important as (if not more important than) physical strength. (I know, I'm ranting/raving).
  13. Well, in my lifetime, there has hardly been a year go by where I haven't had at least one or more alchohol related incidents take place (since my 18th of course... cough), so I think I should accept that these guys are occasionally go off the rails. However, the fact that it has had no further reporting other than on here and on Big Footy (and as I said before, I would think they are probably from the same source directly or indirectly), would seem to indicate that it either: a. may not have occurred, or b. if it did occur, would appear to be the old storm in a teacup. As I said, let's just wait until we see what really happened, if anything.
  14. Yes IF it's true... many in this thread are making statements about what action must be taken as if it was a known fact that it had happened (including yourself until your response)... let's wait and see before we start hangin' them high.
  15. Jebus D'landers love self flagellation...
  16. Based on what, a rumour on a couple of forums (which probably emanated from the same single source - some one has even extrapolated two reports to mean "multiple people reporting it")?
  17. Do you know for a fact that this altercation even took place at all?
  18. Speaking of 'drop kicks'
  19. Great report Satyriconhome... being able to get along to training on only very rare occasions, it's nice to be able to get a sense of how it felt to be there today! Hope to catch up again in July when I next head down.
  20. Yes, I get the feeling WCE are bringing Carr and LeCras back in this week as they believe this will be little more than a training run for them... we need to show them that they have badly miscalculated on that score... rattle them and they will have essentially come to play with 20 instead of 22.
  21. I will be interested to see if any one of our players is going to "test" LeCras' arm early on in the game... I like LeCras as a player and don't wish major injury on any player, but a statement of intent is required and if they can unsettle (NOT injure) him early in the proceedings, our chances improve dramatically.
  22. Ridiculous comment... sports medicine and treatment of fractures etc is extremely advanced. I've seen MotoGP riders come back from leg fractures to be riding in just a few short weeks. Besides, do we know how serious the break was?
  23. I agree on everything you say about Grimes, but I think in the long term Jones is the better prospect as a captain... he has proven himself to be the most consistent on the field and at training and has proven that he is one of the very few who can perform under the pressure of expectation. Anyway, I shouldn't have taken us down this path I think... I will just praise Grimes for his committing to the club (and hope that a few more follow his lead) :-)
  24. Why, because he signed a contract? He is a good captain, I don't doubt that, but I'm now more of the thought that we would be better off with him as VC and Jones as capt. Both bleed red n blue, but Jones is the more consistent performer and sets an example every other player would be wise to follow; he is relentless, fearless and hard at it 100% of the time and on top of that, he has shown that a mediocre player can step up and become a class act.
  25. Oh come on... Byrnes has seen little of the ball simply because the likes of Blease were not getting it to the forward line.
