  1. I think it may be two short, sharp sentences, albeit minus the apostrophe: "The IQ level's on. Here is seriously funny."
  2. Yes, it's the MFC's own "great tea trolley disaster of '67".
  3. You really seem to have it in for Dawes...just three posts and two are spent running him down. It is NOT an excuse to say that Dawes was played as a ruck last year with far less opportunity to impact the Coleman...he will be good for a couple a game this year I would think as he will be played as a dedicated forward.
  4. Anyone can look a million dollars in a NAB cup game...just as easily as they (eg, Hawthorn) can look like Monopoly money. Lets just wait until we see if guys like Moloney do it consistently when the real deal starts.
  5. Not to mention the Australian comedy company Double Take's live voice over of Hercules Returns back in the '90's (I have the video recording of that... very very funny).
  6. Well, that was Rome back in the day RR. Gaius Petronius's Satyricon (which is actually a really good read), Calligula, etc etc... But in all fairness, he was responding to someone who thought he had taken his D'land name from a Danish (or was it Norwegian) death metal band ;-)
  7. Fellini films equate to gayness?? Live and learn... and all of these years I've been enjoying my collection of Fellini films... what can I tell my kids? On the subject though, maybe some of our more senior players can't raise the bar simply because they are too old (cue Yackety Sax).
  8. Probably a dumb idea, but I thought I may as well go with what I'm good at... why not play Dawes(y) and Clark(y) on opposite HFFs (where they can stay out of each others' way) and Howe(y) at FF... Dawes(y) and Clark(y) take the top defenders and Howe(y) is left to out-mark whoever is put up against him and be left with a reasonably easy set shot - set shots from the angle or from any great distance are not his forte. Worth a try in my world.
  9. Yes, I get the feeling that unless we win our first half dozen games on the trot, we will be lucky to pass 32,000.
  10. Just tweeted by @MelbourneFC: "A BIG thanks to all of our 26,751 members who have signed up so far. Get on board now to beat the crowds at Round 1"
  11. The way he plays, maybe they should be sending him along to a few Storm training sessions to build up his neck strength.
  12. Yeah, that would be just our luck... we finally start to look good and our players all go and spontaneously combust on us!
  13. You left off the machete (note spelling) wielding reference, kkk poster boy.
  14. You are the only one who has been taking this off topic... most posters have discussed the sad fact that LJ's life has fallen apart for whatever reasons... you however, come in as judge, jury and executioner, without so much as a modicum of consideration for the most basic tenet in our legal system, "innocent until proven guilty"; you simply laid into him, boots and all. You tried to take this further off topic with accusations of racism supposedly being directed at you, you take this off topic by referring to anyone who has anything nice to say about Jurrah as a "Jurrah defender" in a belittling way, you take this off topic by posting over the fact that posters are abusing you, while you close your comments by doing precisely the same thing. So how about you stop feigning offence at what others might say about you and try to make a meaningful contribution to the discussion.
  15. Saw a nice tweet from Daniel Motlop: "How good our @melbournefc still supporting Liam through everything that's happening, might buy a membership now #godees #greatclub"
  16. I get the feeling the MFC is pinning lot on the opening game against Port and will be pushing extra hard to get the season off to a winning start... there is too much at stake in terms of credibility, respect, media pressure and membership numbers. Even though this is only Port, a loss would be quite damaging. This is why I think they will be doing all they can to get Mitch (and possibly Trengove and Blease) up for that match... but I'm equally sure sanity will prevail if there is any doubt at all about his/their fitness.
  17. So, you might say that as a club, we are transforming.
  18. I get the feeling he walked (although we don't really even know if he actually "walked") partially because he was homesick, partially because he was under far too much pressure for anyone to cope with on their own (and despite the club's support, he was on his own in a "cultural" sense) and partially because he didn't feel he could serve the club well as a result of the first two points. But, like you say, we may never know the real story.
  19. Actually, I think you will find it was you who played the racist card... you called out the poster as being racist with their reference to you as a "white middle class boy". Two things about that expression... it is widely used and widely accepted as a non-racist term (in much the same way I suppose that African Americans refer to each other using the "N" word), and secondly, the last time I checked, white is not a race.
  20. Isn't the word out that Mitch Clark will be playing for Casey in a practice match against Port Melbourne next week? If true, I suppose that will give some sort of indication as to his level of match fitness, from which the club can make their next call.
