  1. There's a BBQ happening there as well?
  2. Sorry to be a pain, but is there any chance of you asking someone there if it's likely there will be one more training session before Sunday's game? - would love to be able to take my son along if they are doing Gosch's Paddock on the Saturday (we get down to Melb on Friday). Thanks in advance.
  3. Well Old Dee, I was uncharacteristically less optimistic than you. I don't really give a toss about what we supporters think, my hope for this season opener is that the players aren't feeling too comfortable about this game on the back of a win in Renmark... I think that is one mistake they have made too often in the past, last year against the Lions being a perfect case in point.
  4. I'll try to keep a record of what he says and put it up here... however, the problem I have is that purely by coincidence, before hearing about this NSW Demons night, I had already agreed to go out for a night of drinking and eating (think Bacchanalian) with colleagues from a former workplace at the very same venue (King Street Brewhouse). As that "party" starts to happen after Don's talk, I am not sure what amount of data loss there will be due to corruption of my last remaining brain cells (James Squire beers are a bit of a weakness of mine). I'm not even sure if Don is going to be doing a stand up presentation, or if it will be something far less formal involving something as simple as chatting over a beer... maybe I should put my iPhone in dictaphone mode?
  5. Melbourne FC just tweeted: "Jack Trengove and Mitch Clark have been removed from our injury list." http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-03-25/trengove-clark-5050-for-round-one.workstation And this looks good, just 2 still injured and one of those due to be available for round 2: Round 1 injury list Rohan Bail (concussion) – 1 week Max Gawn (hamstring) – test Chris Dawes (hamstring) – test Tom McDonald (ankle) – test Nathan Stark (knee) – 3 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (concussion) – test
  6. To be completely honest OD, I do not possess a cheque book :-) I do however participate in club auctions and have purchased a number of items that when combined with memberships for myself and my son, make my contribution not less than significant. I will always give to this club and will only cease to support them when they throw that last shovel full of dirt over my cold body. The cost of my traveling down to Melbourne with my son for round one (fares, accommodation, food etc) to support my team at the game, unfortunately reduce my ability to give much at the moment, but that is the lot of being an interstate supporter.
  7. I hope they don't mind me doing a little advertising on their behalf, but for any Sydney supporters, I had an email today from the nswdemons informing of an evening with Don McLardy; details of which are: Friday 5th April, from 5pm at the King St Brewhouse, 22 The Promenade, King St Wharf (Darling Harbour) Rsvp's can be sent to [email protected]
  8. Last seen plying his trade on Demonology. That is however, an almost generic head... could be Harpo Marx, Neil Gaiman, Brett Whitely, and it would seem, numerous others.
  9. You missed my nomination of Mitch Robinson
  10. I would suggest to RR that he keep nominations open for another day or two and then add a poll using the nominations.
  11. Don't know if you noticed Alf, but he bears a striking resemblance to yourself. And I suppose it's only fair I offer a nomination: http://www.carltonfc.com.au/player-profile/mitch-robinson
  12. Could imagine a crowd chant of Garlo, Garlo, Garlo in the mode of the Dexys' "Gino"...even the MFC trumpeter could revive his career by taking on the brass line from that tune.
  13. When I was a kid in the early 60's, my younger brother, sister and myself used to sit around playing with the old Ouija Board (the 60's version of a video game?) when for some reason we mentioned the Richmond Tigers. The board went crazy and from that moment on, the Tigers were on the most hated list. These days though, apart from a couple of clubs (still Richmond, and Carlton) my hatred is generally reserved for the supporters and the AFL. Adelaide supporters remind me of the inbred, banjo toting, wooden teeth wearing hillbillies from Deliverance. Essendon supporters are just plain feral and Collingwood supporters are just plain scary. I used to dislike Swans supporters here in Sydney because of their blind support with little knowledge of the game, but now I think they are among the most reasonable supporters in the game and I find it impossible to dislike the Swans as a club - in fact, I have nothing but admiration for their achievements.
  14. Flying down from Sydney with my son
  15. As much as I dislike the Crows, I hope they demolish/humiliate the Bumbers.
  16. You may be right, but that last line was a little ambiguous... if I misinterpreted it, then unreserved apologies to Pipefitter.
  17. He is earning "that sort of coin this year" because that is what he was contracted to. Hardly his fault he has had a few niggles.
  18. I find it interesting that there are a number of posters referring to LJ's "alchohol problems". To the best of my knowledge (which isn't particularly extensive), I thought LJ did not have a history of drinking until the Alice Springs incident blew up; in fact, I was of the impression that he was close to being a non-drinker. If that is true, I would say that LJ's problems stemmed from having little or no experience of being in an alchohol induced state. This is not intended to excuse his drink driving, but just to question this idea that he has a "drinking problem" per ce.
  19. Apologies to Disney and 'Old Yeller'... I give you, the "Old Dee Theme": Old Dee was a hunter A rearin', tearin' hunter In any chase he knew just how to run And when he hunted trouble He always found it double And that's when Old Dee had fun Chorus: Here Old Dee Come back, Old Dee Best doggone 'old dog' in the east Old Dee was a fighter A rootin', tootin' fighter In any scrap he knew just what to do A rough and ready fellow Although his coat was yellow (well, red and blue - but that doesn't rhyme with 'fellow') His bold Demon heart was true blue
  20. So you have backed off on your machete wielding, woman beating attacks? As nutbean correctly stated, LJ is hardly alone in the drink driving stakes and no-one is saying he should be absolved simply because of who he is as there is irrefutable evidence that he was well over the limit... note the word "evidence". He will no doubt receive the appropriate penalties for that effort. Meanwhile, you think he will get off these current assault charges purely because of who he is and that he will eventually do time for some future crime - in other words, in the event that LJ is found not guilty through the courts, you will always believe that he is guilty; I disagree with nutbean's assessment of you being "a piece of work"; you are an extremely nasty piece of work!
  21. To quote your earlier post , but he threw it all away due to a lack of discipline (note I deliberately avoided any reference to any form of "troubledness")... Cousins and Martin, both sublimely skilled, both self centred party boys with no real understanding of the meaning of "team". Too big a risk for mine.
  22. I've been building a pile of blu ray discs to watch starting Sunday... a few on that pile I now have, in no particular order: Wreck it Ralph (3D) Life of Pi (3D) Storm Surfers (3D) Man With the Iron Fists Seven Psychopaths Samsara Intouchable Quatermass and the Pit Earth Vs Flying Saucers Marley Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter (3D) Beasts of the Southern Wild The Qatsi Trilogy Cabin in the Woods The Who Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 Busy times ahead!
  23. Ok, for 2013: 13 games at the MCG of which 10 are 'home' games and two games at Etihad of which one is a home game So, that is 15 games in Melbourne plus Geelong which is near enough to be considered a Melbourne game, so that is 16 games in Melbourne of which 11 are home games plus one home game in Darwin... Sydney is one and a half hours away as is Adelaide and Brisbane isn't much more. Hardly going to sap their strength or give them jet lag. Maybe you believe we paid up members and interstate supporters should be willing to fork out the extra to travel to the MCG/Etihad and accommodation... thankfully the club treat us with a little more respect than that. There are just two we will travel any great distance for - Pattersons and TIO whereas West Coast travel across the country eight times and half way across the country twice and Fremantle travel across the country ten times - and isn't that really hurting their chances...not!! So essentially, we will have one more game at TIO in the future under such an arrangement - hardly the end of the world, but quite possibly the beginning of a new world for the club.
