Yes, how dare he go out and deliberately get hamstring tightness! Of course it's disappointing (assuming he isn't playing... none of us know for sure until the team is announced Edit: well, unless the above post is fact), but I would rather him miss this week and be available for some of the harder games coming up, than play and do a hammy, putting him out for much longer.

I believe Butcher is not returning until round 2.

Interestingly, that tweet no long exists... wonder if they were jumping the gun (official team announcement time being 6:30pm).

No, in the article linked to on the previous page, it states: "The Elizabeth court will issue a warrant for Jurrah's arrest if he fails to show at the next hearing in April." http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-03-26/jurrah-misses-day-in-court/459505

That's what I'm saying... it could be fresh incidents, because a warrant over not attending court would only be issued if he failed to attend the next date.
-
I'm pretty sure I read the other day that after not fronting in court, if he didn't front at the next scheduled court date, then a warrant would be issued for his arrest... so I am not so sure that is the reason.

Just tweeted by MFC: "Fun fact: On Sunday, we'll have the most debutantes since 1921"

I can remember the GF years (albeit vaguely) and it's plain frightening to say that was almost 50 years ago! Just one thing to say to you MrReims... tom waits for no-one.

Round 14 vs Bulldogs offers a great new initiative...
hardtack replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Haha! How did I know that was coming OD? -
Women's football as a curtain raiser where the Dees and Bulldogs get to "draft" the best female players for a curtain raiser to the main game. Love it! "In an historic curtain-raiser, women will play for Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs before a round-14 clash featuring more familiar male faces who play for the same sides." http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-sees-the-light-on-womens-footy-20130326-2gsd1.html

I suspect he goes for a free feed and a drink.

I agree, and I hope but they may opt to play Sellar given his recent form (particularly on Port's Trengove) and give Clark another run at Casey so he's at close to full strength for the Essendon game.

Yes DOF... I was at the Canberra meet the night before the GWS game last year and found him to be a very affable, open person. I recall meeting you very briefly (I was there with my 10 year old son and my partner).

This has to have set a new standard in training reports... thanks for the running commentary guys!
-
Thanks mate... really do appreciate it.

Saw a tweet I liked from someone going by the handle of "Lion Turf" (a Demonlander?): Mark Neeld's full speech @ MFC Commencement Dinner should have been: "I think the time for talk is over." And then leave the stage.

There's a BBQ happening there as well?

Sorry to be a pain, but is there any chance of you asking someone there if it's likely there will be one more training session before Sunday's game? - would love to be able to take my son along if they are doing Gosch's Paddock on the Saturday (we get down to Melb on Friday). Thanks in advance.

Well Old Dee, I was uncharacteristically less optimistic than you. I don't really give a toss about what we supporters think, my hope for this season opener is that the players aren't feeling too comfortable about this game on the back of a win in Renmark... I think that is one mistake they have made too often in the past, last year against the Lions being a perfect case in point.

I'll try to keep a record of what he says and put it up here... however, the problem I have is that purely by coincidence, before hearing about this NSW Demons night, I had already agreed to go out for a night of drinking and eating (think Bacchanalian) with colleagues from a former workplace at the very same venue (King Street Brewhouse). As that "party" starts to happen after Don's talk, I am not sure what amount of data loss there will be due to corruption of my last remaining brain cells (James Squire beers are a bit of a weakness of mine). I'm not even sure if Don is going to be doing a stand up presentation, or if it will be something far less formal involving something as simple as chatting over a beer... maybe I should put my iPhone in dictaphone mode?

Melbourne FC just tweeted: "Jack Trengove and Mitch Clark have been removed from our injury list." http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-03-25/trengove-clark-5050-for-round-one.workstation And this looks good, just 2 still injured and one of those due to be available for round 2: Round 1 injury list Rohan Bail (concussion) – 1 week Max Gawn (hamstring) – test Chris Dawes (hamstring) – test Tom McDonald (ankle) – test Nathan Stark (knee) – 3 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (concussion) – test
