  1. No it doesn't... it just shows that there are those who don't share the views of either yourself or BH.
  2. Correction... people HOPE he will. Yes, it's extremely unlikely, but is there any harm in holding out some hope?
  3. The perfect end to all of this would be if the Lions make the finals, Roos says yes to MFC and then brings Voss in as an assistant.
  4. Over two decades have passed and the intervening years have not been kind to me LDC... so, apart from having the right height (at 188cm), I'm afraid that in the interests of my children growing up with a father, I would have to pass (well, fail).
  5. Did that a couple of decades ago myself (and I am pretty sure it was around this time or a bit earlier - it was after I went to the diamonji festival in Kyoto)... my legs were screaming by the time I reached the top and coming down was terrible - that volcanic gravel is very loose so you slide everywhere and when it gets into your boots, the little effers are sharp and very uncomfortable. I think with all of the time I spent taking my boots off, emptying them and putting them back on, the walk down took longer than the ascent.
  6. Great stuff... but I'm early 60's actually :-) I too moved on to Thunderbirds via Supercar, Stingray, Joe 90 and Fireball XL5 - Gerry Anderson was a genius!
  7. We got the TV for the Melbourne Olympics... it creeped me out. Noddy with that organ/calliope style music scared the bejeezus out of me, Tom Terrific, Torchy the Battery Boy, Sooty etc etc... you're lucky you missed out.
  8. Definitely... Big Lebowski, O Brother, Raising Arizona and Blood Simple... also impressed with their take on True Grit and one of their "less" lauded films, Burn After Reading.
  9. Sydney never gets cold enough to require a scarf and the only bumper sticker on my car is for the Newtown Swans Junior AFL club that my son plays with. It wouldn't matter how disillusioned I may become with the Dees, I would probably be too lazy to cancel my payments anyway.
  10. Was Craig waiting at Brisbane Airport for the 3:30am flight back to Melbourne perchance?
  11. Yes, but Jobe Watson isn't in the clear yet... not by a long shot. The AFL chose not to impose any penalties on the players, but ASADA/WADA are nowhere near finished with them yet... there is still a strong chance that the bummers could be without quite a few of their players a bit further down the track.
  12. There was mention of injections (vitamins and anti-oxidants) which were all apparently confirmed by the administering medical clinic. This all came out following the 7:30 report last April. http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/sport/afl/news/stephen-dank-linked-to-melbourne-football-club/
  13. No, don't work in the industry (I'm a technical writer), but have always been a bit of a film nut and am an obsessive collector and watcher of film on DVD and Blu Ray.
  14. To paraphrase one of my favourite musical acts, The Residents: Melbourne Football Club, Buy or Die!

DL7 offers up a perfectly reasonable argument and that is the best you have?? He was correct in his summation of you.

Fitness and skills (or lack of) are not necessarily related. if you want spudworthiness, check back over the atrocious grammar in your posts.
  17. So that is why the more successful teams tend to invest in lengthy development of their players in the VFL before giving them a run at AFL level?
  18. Viv Stanshall formerly of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, found it worthy of a song (despite the fact he passed on almost two decades ago).
  19. So, we are a chance for finals this year? Our season is gone, over, deceased.. it is an ex-season... so I would rather our younger players experience winning finals at any level than getting flogged each week and having their confidence hammered into the ground.
  20. Not to mention that we are a possibility to get a first round priority pick which will change things quite significantly for us.
  21. "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" is superb! How can you possibly go wrong with a Russ Meyer film that features the Strawberry Alarm Clock (band)? I'm a fan of John Waters (the American director, not Australian actor) and have just about all of his films on DVD. Other directors I favour are: Stanley Kubrick, Jim Jarmusch, Tim Burton, Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, Quentin Tarantino, Akira Kurosawa, Hayao Miyazaki, Juzoh Itami, Takashi Miike, Zhang Yimou, Ang Lee, Feng Xiaogang, Katsuhito Ishii and the Cohen Brothers. If you want to learn about John Waters, get hold of his biography "Shock Value" (1981)... a great read. Love the Shaw Brothers films and enjoyed the reference to them used by Tarantino at the start of Kill Bill 2. I actually once met someone here in Sydney who worked with "Run Run" Shaw in Hong Kong... she explained that he got his name as a young guy running canisters of film between the editing rooms and the studios which is how he got his start in the business.
  22. Well, perhaps we like to live in Lloyd Christmas' (paraphrased) world: PJ: What do you think the chances are of a team like us and a coach like you... ending up together? Roos: Well, PJ, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really... PJ: Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you, Roosy. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances? Roos: Not good. PJ: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred? Roos: I'd say more like one out of a million. ...pause... PJ: So you're telling me there's a chance... *YEAH!*
