  1. Of course you're right BB... I was just trying to be provocative
  2. You are kidding, surely... Sewell is a veteran finals campaigner in one of, if not THE best midfields in the AFL, is very well spoken in terms of getting a message across, has a very good football brain and would provide the kind of leadership and guidance that our team is crying out for. Yes, he is 29 which probably gives him 3 good years in the game, but what he can offer would go far beyond that... he would be helping to develop a midfield that will carry us for the next decade. Sorry, but I can never understand the short term thinking that believes we should not be bringing in experienced mids who are in the twilight of their careers but who can offer the kind of mentoring that we would otherwise dream of (it would be almost like having another coach on the field). After all, it's not as if we are going to be playing finals in the next couple of years if we opt purely for youth and inexperience. I don't know, maybe it's a Gen-Y thing?
  3. So essentially, he didn't REALLY want to come to the MFC.
  4. Club has already stated we won't be going after Shaw, so it looks like he'll be someone else's problem.
  5. A quarter past five? What kind of a job is that? Mine usually finishes at five on the dot.
  6. Well, that begs the question, what were the first and second worst? :-)
  7. You do not make it to the top level in politics if you are "stupid"... being a Rhodes Scholar means little in the greater scheme of things, but it is indicative of a bright mind (Bob Hawke was another), regardless of what you think of the holder's politics. Personally, I don't like Abbott but I hope that he may have surrounded himself with people who can give him good guidance and who have the interests of this country at heart. I don't like what has happened on the climate change front and it is too early to know what will happen with regards to the boats, but I do know it is pointless indulging in name calling and petty abuse...I think we have already seen enough of that over the past few years,
  8. So, nothing is decided, there are more than one club in the mix, and a thread with a title that is commonly accepted here as being used for welcoming players that are signed sealed and delivered is acceptable? I would suggest a change of title at the very least and a move to the rumours thread.Edit: was moved while I was typing :-). But regardless, I would have thought the rumours thread would be a more appropriate place for it.
  9. What is there to worry about? Even in a shallow draft, pick 2 is worth a hell of a lot... in fact, it is worth more than it would be in a deep draft as pickings are much slimmer. And besides, if we don't get to trade with it, as someone else mentioned, we still get to use it in the draft to get what we need (no one in their right mind would believe we are going to be contenders in the immediate future... even if we did get an experienced mid in a trade).
  10. And the weird thing is, I hadn't realised that Scully was a Crows supporter when growing up:
  11. Greek guy named Kon Jekture
  12. Refresh works just as well. It's not a show stopper.
  13. I think after their fine, loss of staff and the impending loss of almost half their players, Essendon might deserve a spot on that list.
  14. Didn't he also coach Leyton Hewitt at one time?
  15. Or three of a kind beating two pairs even.
  16. THE MELBOURNE Football Club wishes to advise that Greg Healy will be stepping down as a Director after two years of service on the Board. Healy has been the Club’s Football Director since 2012 and oversaw significant change in the Football Department. Healy cited the recent restructure of the Football Department and increased business commitments as the reasons for his decision to step down... Now read on...
  17. Funny you should say that... a lot of them did single me out for conversation
  18. To even think about getting on a par with a lot of the teams above us, shouldn't we be setting the cutoff point of "in our best 10"?
  19. He was changing one of its tyres at the time (left the handbrake off).
  20. Yeah, I thought the same... funny thing is, and I think this has been officially recognised, NYC has become a much friendlier place since the 9/11 event. I still remember the first time I went there in the late 90's, it was a very unfriendly city where people tended to avoid eye to eye contact... when I was there last year, it was one of the friendliest cities I have been in. The highlight of the trip for my son though was the light rail trip from Long Beach to downtown in L.A... seemed like every nut job in L.A was jumping into our carriage and he loved every minute of it.
  21. They are a great club when it comes to member diplomacy. I will always appreciate their efforts when they arranged a signed and personalised photo of Mitch Clark for my son's birthday and on another occasion had Nathan Jones phone him personally to thank him for being a member. Love the fact they go that extra mile.
  22. I would probably be offering Jamar in that case... he has more currency, while Spencer has more future.
