  1. Well, that begs the question, what were the first and second worst? :-)
  2. You do not make it to the top level in politics if you are "stupid"... being a Rhodes Scholar means little in the greater scheme of things, but it is indicative of a bright mind (Bob Hawke was another), regardless of what you think of the holder's politics. Personally, I don't like Abbott but I hope that he may have surrounded himself with people who can give him good guidance and who have the interests of this country at heart. I don't like what has happened on the climate change front and it is too early to know what will happen with regards to the boats, but I do know it is pointless indulging in name calling and petty abuse...I think we have already seen enough of that over the past few years,
  3. So, nothing is decided, there are more than one club in the mix, and a thread with a title that is commonly accepted here as being used for welcoming players that are signed sealed and delivered is acceptable? I would suggest a change of title at the very least and a move to the rumours thread.Edit: was moved while I was typing :-). But regardless, I would have thought the rumours thread would be a more appropriate place for it.
  4. What is there to worry about? Even in a shallow draft, pick 2 is worth a hell of a lot... in fact, it is worth more than it would be in a deep draft as pickings are much slimmer. And besides, if we don't get to trade with it, as someone else mentioned, we still get to use it in the draft to get what we need (no one in their right mind would believe we are going to be contenders in the immediate future... even if we did get an experienced mid in a trade).
  5. And the weird thing is, I hadn't realised that Scully was a Crows supporter when growing up:
  6. Greek guy named Kon Jekture
  7. Refresh works just as well. It's not a show stopper.
  8. I think after their fine, loss of staff and the impending loss of almost half their players, Essendon might deserve a spot on that list.
  9. Didn't he also coach Leyton Hewitt at one time?
  10. Or three of a kind beating two pairs even.
  11. THE MELBOURNE Football Club wishes to advise that Greg Healy will be stepping down as a Director after two years of service on the Board. Healy has been the Club’s Football Director since 2012 and oversaw significant change in the Football Department. Healy cited the recent restructure of the Football Department and increased business commitments as the reasons for his decision to step down... Now read on...
  12. Funny you should say that... a lot of them did single me out for conversation
  13. To even think about getting on a par with a lot of the teams above us, shouldn't we be setting the cutoff point of "in our best 10"?
  14. He was changing one of its tyres at the time (left the handbrake off).
  15. Yeah, I thought the same... funny thing is, and I think this has been officially recognised, NYC has become a much friendlier place since the 9/11 event. I still remember the first time I went there in the late 90's, it was a very unfriendly city where people tended to avoid eye to eye contact... when I was there last year, it was one of the friendliest cities I have been in. The highlight of the trip for my son though was the light rail trip from Long Beach to downtown in L.A... seemed like every nut job in L.A was jumping into our carriage and he loved every minute of it.
  16. Remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!
  17. They are a great club when it comes to member diplomacy. I will always appreciate their efforts when they arranged a signed and personalised photo of Mitch Clark for my son's birthday and on another occasion had Nathan Jones phone him personally to thank him for being a member. Love the fact they go that extra mile.
  18. Is that the "royal we" or the MFC?
  19. I would probably be offering Jamar in that case... he has more currency, while Spencer has more future.
  20. How is that a put down when it is obviously a term of endearment referencing his height and body shape? If the poster should be pulled up for anything over that post, it is the fact that he got the nickname wrong as it should be "Spencil"! (although, as shown in my edit below, Pencil seems to be the correct usage and imaginative Dees supporters have gone a step further with the pun based on his name). Edit: A quick Google using the terms "Spencil" and "Jake Spncer" returns a result that shows the text: "Pencil has stuck since my first training session..." (see below). Unfortunately, the link is failing due to some sort of database access error. Catch-Ups With Jake Spencer | Spultured - Sport. Pop Culture. www.spultured.com/catch-ups-with-jake-spencer/‎ Mar 27, 2013 - ... Demon ruckman Jake Spencer ahead of the upcoming AFL season. ... Pencil has stuck since my first training session, I wouldn't mind a ...
  21. While I agree with most of what you have said, the quoted line is not really true... Jones had his break out years under Bailey and Garland was gathering momentum and confidence at that time as well, following his return from a prolonged absence due to injury. I still remember seeing and talking to Nathan at the Shanghai game training session where, while he didn't play because of his "minor" setback (broken bones in his neck), he was showing inspirational leadership by training while he was in very obvious discomfort - unlike the "acting" captain Moloney, who showed bugger all.
  22. I don't discount the albeit slim possibility that the Swans could still do an about-face and release Dew from his contract.
  23. Interesting to see that Harvey has left the Lions and that Schwab has joined their staff.
  24. Hey, I saw a guy in a commercial for ColourBond the other night... he was making all kinds of furnishings, decorations and accessories using ColourBond fencing materials... he described himself, saying: "I am a tool"... but I still respect him for his creativity.
