  1. I think that a tactic we should employ, is to have Oliver face the opposition and lift his jersey whenever the ball is coming in; the glare would temporarily blind the opposition players giving ours time to move in a get the ball unopposed.
  2. Viney has been one of the worst offenders.
  3. Missing would be a problem, but missing what was essentially, by all reports, a fairly light training session, is hardly going to see a fully developed veteran player underdone. A 24hr gastro bug is not going to drain him to any great extent.
  4. Hopefully, your selfless sacrifice will be rewarded with a victory tomorrow night.
  5. I wonder if they are considering Joel as the med sub as he's able to play back or forward and could, at a pinch and with his pace and agility, slot in on a wing.
  6. Where do I start? I love the Kabuki-Cho area of Shinjuku, particularly the narrow bar lined lanes toward Hanazono Shrine, parts of Tawaramachi near Asakusa where there are streets full of shops selling display ‘food’. Parts of Asakusa I like, and a great memory was going to one of the oldest restaurants in Tokyo, the Sometarō okonomiyaki restaurant. When I first stayed in Tokyo, Yoyogi Park near Harajuku used to have the street running through it, lined with bands and rockabilly dancers, all performing at the same time. The problem is that the noise police moved in and now only the rockabilly dancers are still there. Places I avoid are Roppongi and, to an extent, Ginza. But Akihabara (the electronics district) is enjoyable if done in moderation; best time being on the weekends they close off the street and you’ll see a lot of cosplay action going on, and the Meido (Maid) Cafes are definitely pretty out there.
  7. Have you been to the Ramones Cafe/Museum? If not, go!! It’s a great way to while away a couple of hours. I loved Berlin and love Melbourne, but my favourite city is Tokyo… it has everything and more.
  8. Blaming Jackson?? He’s already been playing well for us in the last few games and I can’t see him slowing down for the remaining games. I hate this idea that if someone is likely to leave the club, they should be made to play out their remaining games in the VFL. Jackson obviously loves the club and his team mates, but he obviously has a strong desire to be in the same place as his family.
  9. I’ve been a member of Demonland for over 12 years now, since Demonology went all weird and no longer held any attraction for me. I’ve made a few real-world friendships thanks to this site and have become acquainted with some others when my son and I have attended training on our forays down to Melbourne (rare these days), but have also had the odd run in with certain posters, but that’s pretty much limited to politics in the General Discussion forum 😁 So, thanks Demonland for giving us a great shared footy experience… the only thing I’ve learnt is to avoid the game day threads… something that I’m slowly getting better at.
  10. No… he’ll announce it on GF eve, just to gee up the team and the supporters.
  11. Family should ALWAYS come first… I’d hardly call it a mistake.
  12. I love the Manuka Oval as a venue to watch AFL, and I’ve always found parking to be relatively easy; public transport has always sucked big time in Canberra. The Manuka Oval reminds me of the days when the then VFL clubs had their own grounds (when I’d go in the 60’s) which were, for the most part, small capacity with a nice community like atmosphere.
  13. I like that. The strange thing is, and this may just be me, but it feels like this could be part of a newish genre, video game music. That’s not a bad thing, by the way.
  14. It’s still pretty bad, but Giants Stadium, (or whatever it’s called) is pretty much Inner West these days.
  15. Apologies… but that’s why we have emoticons 😉
  16. I had a long hard look at the tackle and subsequent dropping of the ball… maybe you should have done the same.
  17. Regardless, it was the right call.
  18. It was the opposite issue with The Clash's London Calling album (LP - not sure about the CD), where the song Train in Vain (Stand By Me) was not included on the track listing, either on the cover or on the label.
  19. The Japanese have a history of girl bands going way back, and for the most part they’ve been excellent in terms of performance and musical ability.
  20. Ringo didn’t write it… it’s written by the Sherman brothers and was originally recorded by, I think, Johnny Burnette; although lyrically it’s probably something more suited to Jerry Lee Lewis.
  21. Perhaps that was directed at Demonlanders after all of the rubbishing he used to cop here week in and week out?
  22. It was Melksham who got the ball out to Kossie. I thought that was possibly the key part of the play, as he could easily have tried to keep possession to ensure a ball up, but he kept his head and made a conscious effort to get the ball to Pickett instead.
  23. I’d just like to say that I am not going to post in this topic.
