  1. Owies was a player I’d thought would be nice to have as he’s very handy around the goals.

Yeah, but it couldn’t happen to a nicer team 🤣
  3. I think this thread is probably better raised following the trade period and draft. As things currently stand, I’d be expecting a settled football department, line coaches who are across the nuances of the modern game, a head coach who has looked at, listened to and learned from our failings of 2024 and is preparing multiple game plans.

Hopefully it’s a sign that we intend to go to the draft with pick 5.

I hereby decree that Heart Beats True henceforth be known as ‘Scooperman’!

According to an AFL and Gettable (paid partnership) Instagram post made 4 hours ago, he’s talking to four clubs… Pies, Dogs, Blues and Saints.
  7. I’m an atheist and all of my atheistic, agnostic, and believer friends, think that Joe has lost the plot.

In which case the AFLPA cannot have any real issue with the MFC, because we met all of the AFL’s requirements as they stood at the time. Their issue has to be with the AFL and ONLY the AFL.

As I was reading through the last few pages of this thread to catch up, this is precisely what I was thinking. We need to be presenting the younger players on those platforms that are used by today’s youth! Facebook is no longer a thing for them, it’s now all Instagram and Tik Tok… they want short, to the point, even zany, clips that make them interested in what you have to offer; then they will click on ‘Follow’. They don’t even necessarily have to be directly football related, but just show that the subject in focus has a connection to the club. I would even like to see them pay Brayshaw to come and do the Gus and Gawn segment again… it doesn’t need to be football related, but could be a good platform for exposing the likes of Kossie, Kolt, Disco, Windsor and so on, pushing their personalities more than their sporting prowess. Just my two bits worth.

I’m hoping that whoever is our new forward coach (nothing announced yet, is there?), understands the modern game and can teach our forwards effective leading patterns, and that whoever coaches the midfield, works in tandem with the forward coach so that they’re all on the same page. No more just bombing it into the pocket and hoping. I’m also hoping we can bolster our midfield depth in the draft, or through trading, but only if we retain our pick 5.

Once more to the self promotion parapets my friends!! I thought I’d chuck in a link to a video containing a sampling of a few tunes played by my band, Los Romeos Oxidados (plus a couple of ring-ins on guitars) at our gig just this Saturday (07/09/2024), at The Gasoline Pony in the Sydney suburb of Marrickville. I hope you enjoy it.
  12. I think it’s their running patterns… they’re just so outside the ‘box’, that opposition teams cannot predict where the ball will go next, so Hawks players seem to be always leading into open space.

I hope that’s the reason, but the little devil sitting on my right shoulder is telling me that he’s there at the bidding of the club, to project the image of a harmonious club. The little angel on my left shoulder is telling me that he’s looking genuinely happy, enjoying a bit of a laugh with Lever and Max. Also, as the Dees just scored their first goal, the camera focused on an applauding Brad Green.
  14. I’ve got both correct so far.
  15. I was thinking a character in the Dukes of Hazard. Same thing.

    So Morris suddenly has credibility?
  17. That’s nothing! We lived in shoe box in middle of road, with nowt to eat ‘cept a handful of gravel, IF we were lucky, once every two days!!
  18. There’s not that much to keep OD 🤣. Haven’t seen you around this place for a while…I trust you’ve been keeping well.

I was living in Sydney by then QD;,in fact I left Croydon at the start of 1970. My memory of Coles in Croydon was pre ‘New World’. I’d buy swap cards, Dairy Queen and the odd plastic tiki.

I was born in Ringwood (Pine Valley Hospital - no longer in existence? I went to primary school in Ringwood (Winnington Grammar - closed for business when I was in 5th grade) I worked on Xmas school holidays at Myer Eastland. I grew up in Heatherdale and Croydon. I can’t recall much about the place other than it had a great slot car racetrack just near the train station.
  21. That’s the aim.
  22. I’m picking Geelong as they always seem to perform when it matters, then as much as I dislike the club, I love the way this Hawthorn team plays their footy, so I’m tipping them over the Doggies. I love the way that GWS play (like the Hawks, they play an exciting brand of footy), but I fear the Swans will get over them in a very close game. Brisbane will destroy a very under strength Carlton.

Now that the Power Of the Rings season 2 is completed, he might find some time?
  24. At the moment I’m considering renewing just my son’s membership. At least we’ll still be supporting the club financially and I’m a rusted on supporter regardless.
  25. I’m weighing it up at the moment. Financially we are cash strapped, being in NSW means the likelihood of actually being able to attend games is not great, and lastly, my health has me in a position where, frankly, I may not last a full season let alone be in a state to get to games.
