I am so proud of the guts and determination the whole team displayed tonight. I have seen us win quite a few premierships and this felt like one tonight! I wonder how many of us were thinking with a minute to go that Essendon would kick a point then a goal to beat us by a lousy point. Remember Neale Daniher's last match?

Nevertheless, Old MacDonald wasn't bad tonight was he?

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 10
Bobby McKenzie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. Watts- sublime skill, and those gutsy spoils. 5. Rivers- Best game I've ever seen him play. Masterful. 4.Grimes- Terrier like. Disposal also good. 3. Jones- Guts, guts and more guts. What a team lifting goal! 2. Garland- Unlikely hero in forward line. Great marks in defence too. 1. Mark Neeld and the rest of the Demon team. Fabulous courage and dedication. Also thought Sylvia was good tonight. Put himself into the contest. -

He will mate, he will! Get off the kid's back and give him a fair go. Likewise, same advice to the armchair heroes.

Favourite non-MFC players to watch
Bobby McKenzie replied to Good Times Grimes's topic in Melbourne Demons
Paul Chapman. Tough, uncompromising and brilliant. Love to have him in our side. Goal sense is fantastic. Ablett and Judd also great to watch. P.S. Just read that Chapman played with Melbourne reserves before he was drafted in 1999. A big fish who got away. We had him and let him go. -
Thanks for your explanation Macca. Jonesy, who is 24 years, is more of a senior player than the older Martin if you get my drift?
-
Martin is hardly a senior player. How old is he?

Much as I have a strong dislike for WHOREPORN, I couldn't help admire their consistent, ever so slick, handball keeping the ball moving and avoiding tackles. We could learn a lot from their performance against us on Friday night. They are a class side and always seem to produce their very best against us. Unlike others, I thought the boys gave their all and showed quite an amount of desperation. I don't buy this constant argument that we are not trying. We just lack skill and class at present. Maybe Jurrah returning will help. Also, I can't believe that Trenners is fully fit. He is not the same player as the 2011 edition.

Neither do I. Does anyone know when we last beat the Hawks?
-
And you should get a warning for your totally unfair, inaccurate comments. Gee, the guy is simply stating his opinion and defending his arguments. Surely, that's what this forum is all about? You and he and all of us are on the same side remember?
-
And duck our heads and shoulders to milk a few frees a la Weagles.
-
Agree with you 100%. No way did Thomas act in a cowardly, unfair manner. Gee, all the guy did was to dive on the ball and get it out to a teammate. Just sheer bad luck for Rohan. Freakish accident.

In my opinion, the team that comes from behind to force a draw is the 'winner'. the other team is the 'loser'.

I was waiting for that! No, I'm drug free apart from my two fish tablets a day. Maybe they are responsible?

I had a very pleasant dream last night that our beloved Demons had won this year's premiership. Yes, this year's! I was at the game and all our supporters were in tears of joy hugging and embracing each other. We beat the mighty cats by 9 points. Supporters were saying things like, " Can you believe it after our horror first three games of the season this could have happened?" " Tell me I'm dreaming!" It was so real that emotionally I felt it wasn't a dream at all. I have seen quite a few real Demon flags and it seemed that this was number 8 for me. Oh well back to reality. Some dreams are nice though aren't they? Can this dream come true or am I really dreaming? By the way, Jack Watts won the Norm Smith medal and Mitch Clark booted six.

No more comments from players .....please
Bobby McKenzie replied to Maybe next year's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can't believe all the posters who have turned on Jordie Mckenzie. Hailed last season as a 'hero', 'tackling machine' etc, etc. -
Head high tackles...."drawing frees"
Bobby McKenzie replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm with you all the way. Very thoughtful and sensible rule changes indeed. -
Looking at the squad that demolished Adelaide by nearly 100 points at the G last year, I wonder what the hell is going on in season 2012. That day our squad comprised Bail, Bartram, Bate, Davey,Dunn, Frawley, Garland, Green, Grimes, Gysberts, Jamar, Jones, Jurrah, Moloney, Maric, Petterd, Sylvia, Tapscott, Trengove, Warlock, Watts, and Wonaeamirri. ONLY 3 of these are not with us anymore, Maric, Warnock and Wonna. Injuries to Sylvia, Jurrah, Moloney and Gysberts have made it impossible to field a similar team to the one that performed so magnificently that afternoon. Maybe, just maybe, we can soon put this successful team back on the paddock. Add Howe,Clark and Magner to that list and, on paper, we look good. I cant believe ALL players have lost form all at once. The wheel will turn. Just have to hope our injury count is low for the rest of the season.

Just wondering whether Brad has ever been dropped before in his long career with the Demons. Can't say I remember. Also Cam Bruce, was he ever dropped in his time with the Dees? I'm sure someone would know the answers here. Great news about WEBJET!

Yes, 23 to 1 is unbelievable. OK, most of the 23 were correct (although a few Weagles ducked their heads to milk a free) BUT the umpires missed frees that should have gone our way. One free kick in two and a bit quarters? That completely deflates enthusiasm, belief, drive, you name it. Annoyingly, when the games all over in the last quarter they manage to give us a few frees in an ATTEMPT to even up the ledger. It was still very lopsided. Sadly, our tackling was poor and badly executed and James Frawley gave away a goal forgetting the basic rule of how far can you run. Amazing stuff from a good footballer playing in the backline. Don't get me wrong, James is an excellent player but he had a brain fade on this occasion. Speaking of brain fades, why did Dunn unsuccessfully pass the ball when he was well within range? He had kicked an earlier goal from much further out and on a more acute angle. Who knows?

You really are Ray Biffen aren't you?

Cheer up all you sad sacks! Gee, at times I wonder if half of this forum are funeral directors or mortuary workers. Hark back to the year 2000. June 3 in fact. Carlton 25.9 def Melbourne 9.7 by 98 points. Similar scoreline to yesterday? The next week, Melbourne 22.11 def Collingwood 12.6 by 65 points. We make the finals and play Carlton again in a Qualifying final. Thanks to the heroic efforts of youngsters Green and Bruce in the last quarter we win by 9 points, a 107 point turnaround! Yep, Footy is a funny game. So much luck involved bounce of the ball, umpiring decisions etc etc. Let's look forward to the game against Richmond next week. Who knows what can happen? I reckon though, I can hear some of you saying,"Bobby's found his rose coloured glasses again."
