  1. Good news. Mitch is a great cover for our current champs. Never got a chance to push his way into senior team due to morons Virus and injury. Very useful cover indeed.
  2. Yes, I don't mind the Bulldogs players and supporters. The game was played in excellent spirit between two very talented football teams. A great advertisement for our Australian game. Unlike certain clubs they didn't go the biff when all was lost in the last quarter. I respect that and their football club and excellent coach.( ex Demon ,of course). Optus oval is a fantastic venue to watch a footy match too. Far superior viewing the old Subiaco ground.
  3. Just thinking the same thing. Watching the replay you think how could this happen? But it did. Sometimes we can have 2 goals in 20 seconds when a goal scorer is flattened after kicking a goal. But this case was without umpire interference i.e. no free kicks involved. Has to be a record for a GF surely.
  4. When you have waited and been around for 57 years as I have, its a bloody beautiful feeling. I would love a repeat of the 1950 fifties in the 20 twenties. 2021,22,23 and at least24. I'm very greedy I know.
  5. They certainly have erased memories of their awful preliminary final at Optus in 2018. I think the ground suits their style. Look out Eagles and Dockers.
  6. No mate. Too much demand for tickets. Happy with TV and my lounge chair. Cheers.
  7. Firstly, let me say how happy I am for all the loyal Melbourne supporters who had NEVER seen even ONE Melbourne Premiership. So very pleased for you all. I am one of the very lucky ones to have now notched up my 8th Premiership Title. This one had the most wonderful taste of all and that's saying something. When you are 83 and you see the Bulldogs seemingly ready to seize the GF by the the throat you think "I have seen 7 but I aint going to see anymore". How wrong was I ? This so young, talented gutsy team just will not accept defeat and seemingly don't panic when the goings get tough. No one beats us attitude. Until this season I always believed the great 1956 Melbourne team with its array of stars, Barassi, Cordner, Spencer, Ridley, McMahen, Williams, Dixon, Marquis etc etc was the the greatest of all BUT this years Demons are something extraordinary. I'm now leaning towards the present. What do other old Demons on this forum think? Over to you. Go the mighty Demons, you sure gave the Bulldogs Hell!
  8. Not sure about year but it was one of 55,56 or 57. Those were the days when reserves games were played as curtain raisers to the seniors. In this reserves game GF Melbourne player Rickard ? had a set shot after the final siren from a long way out ( no 50 metres arcs then) with the demons behind by under a goal. He nailed it to win the flag and it was a wonderful warm up for our seniors premiership win later that day. Go demons!!!!!
  9. DID his knee. Sorry mate, we teachers cannot help ourselves.
  10. Know the feeling.. After following Melbourne faithfully for nearly 70 years, I have had strangers coming up to me after looking at my very old Melbourne FC number plates and say "Getting on the Bandwagon mate?" Get real guys.
  11. Beautifully put Rodney. A great article on a strong strong human being. Let's do it for Jimmy.
  12. The following note was sent to my Demon barracking daughter today from a friend all the way from Dublin. Sorry I couldn't work out how to attach it to the photo. I'm fairly computer illiterate I'm afraid. To my Melbourne Demon friends, how awesome is this? Someone drove up to Jim Stynes headstone in the Dublin hills to give him a scarf for the week ahead. He is not forgotten. He was such a great man.Go the Dees!
  13. 24 not really hot and by the time the game starts it will be well under that figure. Fremantle doctor will do its job.

  15. I don't know about a RAPID rise. The kid has been great since GAME ONE of his star studded career. A true tough and classy champion. A perfect blend. What a will to win he has. Go Demons!!!
  16. You can add Bob McKenzie senior to your imposing list Wrecker.
  17. My car plates read 57 MFC. Chose that number to represent our hat trick of premierships 55,56 and 57. Lets hope it signals our 2021 Premiership after 57 barren years.
  18. Jonesy, thank you for your loyalty, guts, skills, leadership over a long period of time. How easily you could have gone to the top teams and enjoyed premierships. But you didn't and remained a Demon warrior for life. A true legend of our club. Did the number 2 great honours along with Robbie Flower, Steven Tingay and Bob McKenzie snr. A famous number indeed.
  19. No go Im afraid. Received some bar codes but left my run a bit too late. Thanks for your interest.
  20. As a long standing forum member and OLD( 84) Demon supporter since 1948, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to let me have their membership number so that my daughter could take me to the Grand final. As a Melbourne member I could get a ticket but need help to get there. A big ask I know.
