  1. When are these being held?

Why would a budding young ruckman want out or decline to be the understudy to two great ruckmen like Gawn and Grundy? We know that it takes years for young talls to develop and a great amount of patience is needed in their development. The Suns gave up pick 5 to get Mac Andrew as a 5 year project last year and to date, he has yet to even play in the ruck. Getting Grundy is a long sighted move in terms of the development of our future ruck strength and will help shore up that position in the short term with the departure of Jackson.
  3. I heard some discussion about Brisbane’s father/son prospects for this year. Ashcroft is likely to be bid on by North and the Lions will match the bid to get him. In addition, they also have another potential f/son in Jaspa Fletcher. What does Brisbane need in terms of draft points to secure both players?

  5. I’m reading that ā€œGWS will ask Richmond for a trade deal that includes two first rounders for Jacob Hopper.ā€ If that’s what Hopper’s worth, what price Jackson?

The second part of the proposition about getting rid of Goodwin and the Match Committee is garbage but the part about whether changing up the key forward posts might have brought about a different result is very much up in the air given that Brown and the resting rucks gave us donuts!

Quite a few of the players were well off their game last week up in Brisbane. Hope to see them lift their intensity as they should do in a final.
  8. Ripping book. Loved it!
  9. Herald Sun reporting re Izak Rankine:- ā€œGold Coast would ask for multiple high picks for Rankine — possibly the Crows’ pick 5 and a second-round selection.ā€ Dogga is worth a lot more.

Last night’s sub James Jordon played less than a full quarter last night. Does that mean he can still play today for Casey?

Watch out for some possible tanking from North Melbourne who have applied for draft relief. A win might throw the cat among the pigeons so to speak because it could result in the Weagles getting the spoon and first draft pick.

I think you might find that modern methods of training and preparation of players has advanced in the past decade or so. He will be rested and ready for Friday night’s game if required.
  13. Don’t look now but we could well be out of the top 4 at the end of the round.
  14. He hardly had a touch last time until Turner got injured and we lost Petty for a large slab of time late in the second quarter. He should get more attention tonight.
  15. Don’t think so given that he’s played just one VFL game since recovering after a long time out.
  16. Anyone know if Kade Chandler and the emergency(s) who went to WA managed to get back here for today’s game?

  18. The pressure’s right back on today in the absence of our two ruckmen.
  19. The Vic Metro vs WA game is listed as showing live today at 12:15pm on Fox 503.

Strangely enough, Collingwood who sit second on the ladder and have already had one bye this year, are having their second bye this round as well.
  22. Most likely Kade Chandler will be the MFC sub tomorrow. Almost like for like replacement for Toby Bedford who needs the game time at Casey. My guess is that Jake Melksham will be the other traveling emergency although Mitch Brown and Adam Tomlinson would have their supporters for a place on the flight.
  23. It’s 3rd v 4th on the ladder so why not?
  24. I’m confident about Casey this week although it’s a pity that the fixturing won’t allow Melbourne fans to get down and watch this historic game between the clubs. Whoever dreamt up a clash game between AFL and VFL affiliates should have their heads read. Anyhow, full of admiration for Casey who beat Box Hill on their own dung hill last week with a reduced number of MFC players due to the Covid situation and with four local boys making their debut with the club.
  25. It will be interesting to see how the club handles players recovering from Covid. Much will depend on the severity of the symptoms. Some people get it only in a mild form and can still exercise and do things to maintain their fitness.
