  3. On the VFL website they have two players to watch for the Casey Demons • Josh Schache - leading club goal kicker for 2023 with 19 goals (average 2.4) • Blake Howes - leading club disposals for 2023 with 245 (average 22.3) and leading club marks for 2023 with 75 (average 6.8) Would like to see Howes getting a game at AFL level. Hope it’s soon.
  4. We’re coming off a W on the MCG against Collingwood this year compared to a disappointing loss to them last year which was our third straight defeat. We should be at least as confident looking forward to the rest of 2023.
  5. I’m a fan of Titus O’Reily and here’s what he has to say about the game:- Melbourne v Collingwood If you didn’t have a tear in your eye when Neale Daniher walked off the ground with a guard of honour, you are probably a sociopath. The Big Freeze was once again a highlight of the footy calendar, but the guard of honour was something else. And the game lived up to the moment too, with a match that was never in doubt for the Dees, except for all the times it was. Which was a lot. The Pies are top of the table for a reason, they are a phenomenal side and this loss, while disappointing, will not be season-defining. For the Dees it was. They haven’t been at the top of their game since their winning streak at the start of last season. To end the Pies’ winning streak was always going to be difficult, but Simon Goodwin had a master plan. What if instead of kicking more goals than Collingwood, a ploy they would see coming, Melbourne drowns them in points? It proved Goodwin was playing 4D chess. Like a bad Uber driver, the Melbourne Football Club took the longest route possible to get to their destination. It was frustrating, and unnecessarily stressful, but they did get there in the end. The key for the Dees, was their effort and their control. They stopped Collingwood doing what they wanted to do, like a chaperone at a school social. With the Pies not able to get their run game going, the Dees defence was able to time and again set up behind the ball stop most attacks. That was until the last two minutes, two of the most stressful moments of my life, and I saw Aliens when I was eight. In the end the Dees hung on for a victory that shows they’ve still got it. Now to find it regularly. And kick straight.
  6. Wait till the Tassie team comes into the competition. Then you’ll see a real mess.
  7. Surprised he didn’t get drafted but will be selected as a rookie well before our pick comes up.
  8. Can’t wait to hear Sarah Jones ask Will Ashcroft if he’s excited to be joining his father’s old club.
  9. So can we still nominate a FEB?
  10. Are the two Ryans from SA related?
  11. This kid’s interesting - Draft intel: Clubs eye next Sicily, son of Pie, Blue rising fast
  12. Allen has flight risk written all over him. Peter Bell already has his number on speed dial.
  13. Jeebus. Don’t tell me it takes the best part of two days. How many minutes does a club have for its selection?
  14. Definitely worth a look and an unlikely flight risk unless he wants to be like Ollie Henry and join his brother on the Gold Coast.
  15. When Chandler gets upgraded we still have 5 spots because the spot he vacates is still open. Just as a rookie spot and not a spot on the primary list. We will then have two primary list spots and three rookie spots as well as the capacity to take a NGA as the second Category B rookie.
  16. Not even for 5 minutes. The only exciting bit about it was discovering that it wasn’t true.
  17. He’s worth more to us at Melbourne than anything we could get in a trade with St Kilda. Surely?
  18. I have a headache.
  19. Dockers seem to be loading up on future draft picks. Is there a way they can combine them all and turn them into something they can use to get Luke Jackson?
  20. When are these being held?
  21. Why would a budding young ruckman want out or decline to be the understudy to two great ruckmen like Gawn and Grundy? We know that it takes years for young talls to develop and a great amount of patience is needed in their development. The Suns gave up pick 5 to get Mac Andrew as a 5 year project last year and to date, he has yet to even play in the ruck. Getting Grundy is a long sighted move in terms of the development of our future ruck strength and will help shore up that position in the short term with the departure of Jackson.
  22. I heard some discussion about Brisbane’s father/son prospects for this year. Ashcroft is likely to be bid on by North and the Lions will match the bid to get him. In addition, they also have another potential f/son in Jaspa Fletcher. What does Brisbane need in terms of draft points to secure both players?
