  1. Our backs have looked a much better unit with OMAc there. Jetts had a shocker, possibly caused by the head trauma. Omac got one of the random holding the ball calls, who knows what that rule is now.

Interesting comments from Max and Goody. Rewatched the game last night and it only confirmed my prejudice that Lockhart did all the right things but can execute better at times. We still have brain fades across the field which lead to bad disposal (or throws). Our mid field cohesion was great so I just dont see why we would change that. One of the highlights was Dermie becoming Squirmy at half time. what impressed me was the cohesion we had across the ground. A few things to fix (Cossie needs to learn a solid tackle) but no wholesale changes.

Two observations from being at the ground. Lockhart does a lot off the ball and looks like a key part of the defence. He is clearly still learning and does get beaten from time to time but it would be harsh if he was dropped unless he needs the rest. I thought Vanders in his first 2 outings looked off the pace but having seen him live in the last 2 outings he adds some real presence around contests. He had couple of terrible disposals but there was a sense of panic on the part of the Hawks when they heard him coming (or felt his presence). I think he is doing a job off the ball as well. I doubt it will be a tough week for selectors with everyone doing their job, just bad luck for those not included this week. Very hard to see any change.
  4. 7. The whole team. 6. Gawn 6. Trac (cant separate them) 4. Oliver 3.langdon 2. Viney 1. Weed. Boy Oscar, May, Hibbo, Lever,Hannan, Fritta, Jacko all unlucky not to poll
  5. Just home from our new fortress Giants stadium. What a delight to see 2 wins in a row. We were absolutely sublime. I cant speak again voice shattered and the experience so the much better for having Hawks supporters there. Max was immense as was Trac but it was a whole team performance. Some great support for Oscar as well with one supporter near us confessing very loudly he was wrong about Oscar.
  6. It has been a cold and overcast week here with quite a bit of rain. The ground last Sat looked quite cut up and with a game on it this Sat by Sunday it could again be a bit rough and certainly soft. That will mean Max will need help in the ruck and we may need to factor that into final selections. I surmise thats why they went for Jackson who can pinch hit in the ruck and leave Weid at home down forward.
  7. Long way to go before a GF. The spike can slip through the net as we have seen in NSW.
  8. Indeed. If Lockhart needs a rest I'd go with Rivers. In place of TMac I'd like to see us play Jackson who may be too mobile for their ageing backline. I think it would be a mistake to go for Brown who is exactly the sort of Forward their backs are used to dealing with.
  9. Just home from the game. A very small crowd but it had a big voice! I have lost mine. A special mention to Umpire 20, probably the second best for the Suns after Rankine. His calls on Langdon were what i will call politely "surprising". From my perspective the holding the ball calls were just impossible to understand. The Suns had a handful of unbelievable goals and were gifted a couple. We were the better side on the night. What you probably didn't see on TV was how hard Langdon worked to get to position and create options that were often not taken. Max and viney were immense. Just brilliant being there with a crowd that was just Dees supporters. A big thank you to the club.
  10. 6 Gawn 5 Viney 4 Trac 3 Langdon 2 May 1 Salem
  11. Currently just overcast been raining on and off. Local report suggests 13% chance of rain at 6.00pm.
  12. I only got one ticket as well, I think its either an AFL, venue or Govt decision. Someone with contacts at the club told me the club only got about 200 tickets for local supporters. Dont know how reliable that rumour is but if true you really did win the lottery!
  13. Raining and predicted to last all day. Will be a slippery wet slog.
  14. No idea, on the telecast of Cats v lions it looked like quite a few. I'd be equally disappointed if MFC members here missed out. I watch every week with a mate and he got tickets as well. Very easy to slip back with this virus.
  15. Totally understand the sentiment. MFCSS kicking in, now expecting NSW Govt to ban crowds or something.
  16. Won the lottery, going to the game.

I invite Ron B to post: "well that escalated quickly".
  19. It is very strange we have not changed the game plan. I once spoke with a very senior IBM executive, they had lots of plans including individual ones but whilst the organisation insisted on the planning process and tried to execute the plans everyone realised they would be very different by the end of the financial year. To adopt an overused word, our coaching group does not appear agile enough.
  20. May be all sorts of reasons we dont know about, in any event its done and now unlikely it can be changed in any time less than 2 weeks of complete isolation.
  21. Interesting article. "Let’s be honest – they aren’t winning the flag or likely even playing finals this year. Why not send Tomlinson forward for a handful of games and see if he can have an impact? There’s little to be lost, much to be gained." Really a good thought if we are struggling at the moment. I have growing concern that Goodwin and Co get so committed to something they aren't prepared to try a circuit breaker (especially mid game), it might not be part of the long term plan but may just work to break a cycle. This is important when other teams think they have us figured out and have to deal with something they weren't expecting.
  22. Probably means the Govt is not lifting the crowd size it has allowed to date which is about 400 to 500, halve that for GWS, and you have about 200 slots. Probably 500 members in NSW so objectively the odds are pretty good. Apply MFCSS and it looks grim.
  23. Ballot for tickets for NSW members.
  24. spargo
  25. I contacted the club this morning and NSW members will get an email once the AFL has sorted out the attendance process. The government is allowing crowds of up to 10K I think. Its a small ground (spectator wise) but actually pretty good for spectators. It has locally run food outlets and a bit of a country ground feel given its size and very easy to get to if there is nothing else on in the olympic precinct.
