  1. Very happy the club allowed us to send our barcodes to relatives, well done. Mind you my brother in Perth and his son finally coughed up for a membership. I am told they will have 16 in the crowd which is fantastic. We can win this. I think its interesting Geelong has not won more in the time its been in the finals and wonder if the home ground has helped get them there but is a drawback when they play the finals on bigger grounds. I hope so.
  2. I dont agree with this analysis. Petty and May can deal with Hawkins and Cameron. Smith can deal with Ratugolea which still leaves Lever free. If this is their plan against us it really leaves them flat footed on the rebound and more generally inside 50. As we saw last time we really denied Cameron space to operate. I also think we need to be able to fill the space ahead of Hawkins. On the topic of Hawkins how the hell does he get away with the forearm to the head and commentators say there is nothing in it, not to mention his continual hands in the back that the umps ignore? Whilst I was hoping GWS got up mainly because they were banged up and terrible, I dont think that Geelong played well, we should go into this one with a lot of confidence.
  3. I have always wondered why we talk of Premiership players instead of premiership team which would include all of those who contributed to the end result. I have no doubt everyone would wish it for him but in the end we have to pick the best team for any final play. Whatever happens he is a legend of the club and I hope his is there in some capacity when ever we finally lift the cup (when ever that may be in the future, not to get ahead of ourselves).
  4. Seven, I had a pair of Ron Barrassi boots (at some stage).
  5. Well that was nice.... i recall all going to Geelong years ago and we won on a kick after the siren (or at least on the last kick of the game). big max legend.
  6. With TMac out Weed will be busting to show what he can do. I hope he has a game that causes the selectors real nightmares. A bag of 10 would be nice.
  7. Seeing Eddie last night confirms just how damaging this is to the victims and its not for them to carry the burden of fighting racism, its for all of us to do so. I would like to see both our club and Adelaide wear their indigenous jumpers this weekend.
  8. With their ruck out is this a situation where we give Gawn or Jackson a rest with Weed coming in. Not Goody's style but it must cross their minds.
  9. Did I detect in the presser that Goody is thinking about Weeds for next week in his comments about Tom? Or am I way off track. It would be wise to make sure Tom is fully for for finals and Weeds would be better for the run if needed in the finals. There may be a lot of discussion at the table about who needs a rest and who needs a run.
  10. Vanders was well and truly on the wrong side of the line last night.
  11. Doctor says I should vent: Vanders: wt? Brought nothing other than anxiety to supporters last night. Max: Please develop a set shot or pass it off. Spinning the ball in you hands as you walk in does my head in. (thank you for everything else ). Team: Practice the set shots. If we hit just one in the last quarter I would have saved on the Drs bill. Umpires: What is going on? Do the weagels supporters hold your loved ones hostage? ( I think the Dogs supporters are doing the same). That feels better. How good were Harmes, Bowey,Jackson and ANB! ANB you did yourself and the team proud, congratulations on 100.
  12. 6. Petracca 5. Oliver 4. May 3. Petty 2. McDonald 1. Salem
  13. Two players caught my attention in the Casey game. Jones and Weed. Jones was a class above and gave it all. He is not going out quietly. Really wants another senior game. Not sure he gets it but the fire is burning in him with a whiff of finals again. Now to Weed, I suspect he did most (but not all) of the things the Coaches asked of him. He moved up and down the ground and was defensively good. However he didn't clunk too many marks inside 50 and his kicking was wayward. BB also found it hard to clunk the marks and at least 2 of his goals came off the deck. In contrast he is not as committed defensively. As a general observation we have some real talent in the twos who are learning our game style and quite a few of them will be banging down the door. So do Jones and Weed get picked? I think not. Jones may be the emergency again. I suspect Brown will be given a chance but he has to do more to really impress and hold a spot.
  14. They will have to get a name coach both the current board and the challengers will want nothing less. My bet is that the current board already have someone to shore up their position and that has led to this decision. It cant be an untried assistant in the circumstances and they need to make the announcement soon. The alternative is they told Bucks that was their plan and he said well see you later, that would be a misstep on their part. As for Monday it may fire the pies up but we just need to be ready to play as if they are another top tier contender.
  15. thanks I haven't had an email from the club, strange.
  16. Great initiative and like others here I am very proud of our community involvement in the heart of the country.
  17. Living in Sydney I have seen a lot of games at the SCG. It seems short end to end and wide (except for the forward pockets). My swans friends claim the 50 is actually 48. Whilst I doubt that it certainly feels short. Our defence is predicated on judging the flow of the ball into the defensive area. The SCG does not offer the luxury of any time if the ball is coming down the guts. And to my eye you often see goals that seem to be kicked after one handball from the centre bounce. Thus owning the corridor will be super important. Ps: does anyone know when tickets go on sale?
  18. I take it out every year, until now I have considered it a donation.
  19. Skipped the middle of the thread but I am concerned that Salem is not fit and may need a rest. Prefer him in the side but there is the long term outlook to consider. Melksham clearly goes for positivelingers. Weed stays a week. At the game you could see how hard to works off the ball to keep our structure and I doubt Brown could do that. Hard to know if he will make it but showing all the signs of being very close to getting the confidence he needs to start clunking the marks. On at least two occasions he appeared to deliberately knock the ball forward to the smalls one of which led to a Kozzie goal.
  20. Just home from the game and now watching the replay. We just wont give up. Really good crowd apart from the [censored] Bears supporter near us, who went missing in the second half, must have had a flight home. Could dish it but not take it. I just love this team and back next week! Sadly not at our fortress, Giant stadium. Go Dees.
