God T Mac is so [censored] slow.
-
I like how insanely easy that first goal was.
-
I’ve explained how that is what you were doing. Or at least, that seemed to very much be the message. Moving on.
-
Your opening contribution amounted to saying that positive responses are all due to romanticism around it being Jesse Hogan. The implication being that anyone in favour of the idea is not looking at it logically. It doesn’t get much more dismissive than that. I’d be surprised if they traded him back but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen.
-
Not to mention I’m yet to hear anyone from the club give any inkling of sour grapes. Quite the opposite. There is little to suggest he wouldn’t get a warm welcome home. Should the club decide to trade for him.
-
Again, I’m not just talking about supporter romanticism. For Hogan it will be familiar surrounds in terms of players, coaching staff and admin. He knows Goodwin’s methodology. That places the club in a unique position. As mentioned it would largely be about getting him into the right mental place and all those things provide him with a leg up to return to his best football. That’s parking everything else involved in terms of sentiment. To say it’s irrelevant just isn’t accurate. Yes, he hasn’t produced anything at Freo. Hence why it’s a gamble and you’d only want to acquire him cheaply. For me, it’s a gamble worth taking. Hogan at CHF in this team is an attractive prospect. You dont see it that way. All good. Just try not to dismiss those who disagree with you as not thinking straight.
-
Those two can co-exist. It’s about what he can produce on the field in isolation, as well as what returning to Melbourne specifically can do for him, the club and the supporters.
-
I don’t see much “pining”. It’s about an openness to the idea. It’s actually not just about the romanticism and it’s fairly arrogant to dismiss it as such. Also, it’s just wrong to think that him being a Melbourne player is irrelevant. It’s relevant on several fronts. Especially with the player in question.
-
That’s all well and good but it ignores what he did prior to going to Freo. This isn’t just about the romanticism attached to it. We know he can play. He’s been at Freo for five minutes in the scheme of things.
-
I have memories of Roos saying he could be an A grade defender. But in saying that he was never exactly known for his defending ability. It’s hard to picture it.
-
It’s a concern and it would be buyer beware. But we know with Hoges that 95% of the battle is mental. He’s not a happy man up there and it’s showing. The lure of family and friends clearly hasn’t translated the way he may have hoped. He’d be in familiar surrounds at the club where he knows he has produced his best football. Id be shocked to see it happen but acquiring Bennell was a shock and very unMelbourne-like so you never know.
-
I’d have him back. Talent like that doesn’t disappear.

Would be a dramatic turnaround for Bruce to cause us any issues. Has been beyond rubbish this year.

English is ripe for an old fashioned Preussing.

Past: Lyon, Farmer, Robbo, White Current: May, Jones, Trac, Weid

He did two fifths of [censored] all as head coach for years on end. Enter Neil Balme as GM of football, Caracella as midfield coach and Leppitsch as forwards coach. They win a premiership the very next year. Call me cynical but I seriously doubt the extent of Hardwick’s influence on their success.
-
Have long thought Hardwick is a knobend. He just continues to cement that view. The guy has weird anger issues for someone of his age.

The fact there are two Wagners is to both their detriment. It adds to the beigeness. Two serviceable players with neither having any standout traits seems to end up being beige squared. It doesn’t surprise me he has fans inside the club. He’s a better player than he gets credit for, but he’s down the pecking order now. My main issue with him is consistency. You don’t quite know what you’re going to get, which is a gamble at AFL level. You want role players to be reliable, first and foremost. That said, he is worth his spot in the ranks. We’ve seen far worse players than him come through the doors. I wouldn’t blow a gasket if he got selected. I’d just be quietly hoping for the good Wagner.
-
Lol this would be amazing.

Unless he falls away dramatically, Trac is a lock Oliver is on the edge. If he comes home with a wet sail he’s a chance but the general consensus seems to be that he’s only come good the last few weeks, which isn’t actually true. Hopefully his end to the year becomes too good to ignore. Pretty much only Melbourne supporters fully appreciate the season that May has had. Some of his best games have been in losses so have garnered less attention. Will be lucky to make the squad but he’d be worthy if he did. Next to no chance he makes the final side. Haven’t heard his name mentioned anywhere. Max has had a couple of average games and now missed a couple more which will cost him. He will make the squad but it’s looking likely they will go with NicNat and Goldstein. Grundy is no chance.

God Richmond are awful to watch.

Not reading too much into this. Adelaide have a tendency to make decent opposition look like flag favourites. Naughton is the danger man though. He makes them a much more damaging side having a genuine target, much like our turnaround with Weideman. Bont also looks to have captured some form. Still backing us in, but the Dogs will provide a bigger test than our last three opponents combined. If we can roll them comfortably it’s time to start believing again.

Was very impressive in his appearance on the Sunday footy show. A great representative for the club.
