AFLW: Rd 05 vs Collingwood
When Daisy is kicking it straight to an oppo jumper inside D50 you have to think it may not be our day.

AFLW: Rd 05 vs Collingwood
Let’s face it. They’ve been better in every facet so far.

AFLW: Rd 05 vs Collingwood
Following the men’s example. Millionaires or paupers. Nothing in between.

AFLW: Rd 05 vs Collingwood
Should’ve won last week’s game twice over. It’s smashed pie time.

AFLW: Rd 03 vs North Melbourne
Spot on. There seems to be a gulf between the older and newer sides. 7 of the current top 8 are inaugural clubs. The exception is North, funnily enough.

Go Dees ?

AFLW: Rd 03 vs North Melbourne
Looks like the “if you can’t dispose of the ball legally just drop it, it’s all good” rule applies in AFLW as well,

AFLW: Rd 03 vs North Melbourne
We are noticeably cleaner than most other sides. Well structured behind the ball. Leading disposal getter in the league. Could be a real shot this year.

Where is Kozzie?
Not usually one to side with grammar nazis but that thread title is a complete train wreck.

2021 Injury List
“He’s had his first pre-season in a long, long time. He trains Monday to Friday which is great,” Cameron told Sportsday. “He’s living with Shane Mumford so you can make of that how you will, it’s been a really good thing though.“ ? Mumford and Hogan shacking up together. What could possibly go wrong?

2021 Injury List
Well that’s one way of figuring out how we’re going to fit Brown, Weid, Jackson and T Mac into the side. Just take out two of them with injury. The Melbourne method. It’s clearly a kick in the crotch, although M Brown is a better player than some will acknowledge. I even happier now that we gave him another year. Hell, I have more faith in him than T Mac who has been riding the coattails of a freak season where he took the second defender every week. I thought my days of T Mac induced hernias were pretty much over but looks like the rollercoaster goes on. If he can at least play within his limitations then that will be a good start. Regardless of T Mac, there is still enough firepower to kick winning scores more often than not. But it will require a step up from a number of players.

Clarkson’s Patton Comments
I agree with that in relation to recreational drugs, although worth noting that the better player you are, the often better chances of emerging from “murky waters” with your career in tact. Look no further than Hodge as an example. Titus O’Reilly has written a book on the subject called A Sporting Chance, where he examines everyone from famous footballers to racing identities and how they have essentially gotten away with their misdeeds due in no small part to how talented they were on the sporting field. The number of examples he provides forms quite the body of evidence. Put simply, I don’t think Patton will get shown the same sympathy as the Warnes and Careys of the world.

Scully "steps away"
The Hawks acquired Scully for a future fourth round pick. “Disastrous”? Hardly. They got him for basically nothing. His 2018 season alone made him a worthwhile get. Goes without saying that hopefully he sorts out the personal stuff. Anyone conflating football and personal needs to take a chill pill.

2021 Leadership Group
Gawn (C), Viney (VC), May, Trac Four players is enough, although I wouldn’t object to Salem as the fifth. It’s time for those in his age bracket to take the reigns. Oliver is another year away from inclusion in terms of maturity and Lever needs to concentrate solely on getting back to his best.

Our Clubs Best Midfielder of the 21st Century
Found it interesting the article says Oliver will take the mantle. As good as Clarry is, Petracca seems the more likely one to take the mantle.

Trent Rivers Rising Star?
That Rivers for AA prediction in the Foxsports article is very left field. If the authors don’t have a soft spot for Melbourne then clearly young Trent gained more attention from the neutrals last year than I thought.

2021 Crystal Ball Predictions
Back again for another year of predicting our footy fortunes or lack thereof. Due to popular demand, there is now a template! Points will be allocated to determine a winner with 1 point for each correct answer unless otherwise indicated. I’ve included an 'Other MFC predictions' field for those who want to go off road with their prognostications. Only non-obvious predictions will earn a point. Predicting Oliver to have more than 15 possessions against North will not earn a point. Happy ball gazing. DCB Honour roll 2016 - wretched.sylph 2017 - ding 2018 - Skuit 2019 - Demon Dude 2020 - Bring-Back-Powell (copy and paste below) MFC predictions Ladder position at the end of the H&A season: Position at the end of the season (e.g. stage of finals): B&F top 5 (1 point for correct inclusion, 1 point for correct place): 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Who Will We Dislodge from the 2020 Final Eight?
Pies have imploded to an extent rarely seen. I don’t see them recovering and heads eventually rolling seems inevitable. I’m unconvinced the Saints are the real deal as they still have a void in top end talent. I’ll back us in but it is largely based on hope. A lot still hinges on getting the forward mix right. Swans are my smokey to bounce back in a big way next year. Got better as the year progressed and will add a generational key forward into the mix. Pies and Saints to be replaced by Dees and Swans.

Crystal Ball 2020: Your predictions for next season
Like a visit to the buffet after Stewie Dew has filled up his plate, options were limited this year. No-one predicted the world shutting down, playing in empty stadiums, the season stopping after Round 1 and almost abandoned altogether because an Irishman got sick. Lift your game, ball gazers. Anyhow, on the weight of it (sorry Stewie), the winner is this admirable effort from @Bring-Back-Powell: DCB Honour roll 2016 - wretched.sylph 2017 - ding 2018 - Skuit 2019 - Demon Dude 2020 - Bring-Back-Powell See you all again after the draft for a new round of “Predict the apocalypse”.

Geelong coughing up 13, 15 and 20 for Cameron. Wow.

Welcome to Demonland - Picks 18 & 19
Isn’t 2021 meant to be the draft loaded up with talent? Interesting choice to be giving away our first rounder but the club has earned the faith on these matters. Perhaps we will trade our way back in.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Not that it matters much but he also seems like a ripper fella off the field. It takes a very likeable character for me to still like them once they pull on a Norf jumper. Very happy he’s now a Demon.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Thread title change time.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
An essential swap of Preuss for Brown would be an outstanding result.

Gary Pert on SEN 6/11/20
Roos was easier to judge from the outside. He’s the kinda guy who as a supporter you wanted to pull the boots on for. Goodwin clearly isn’t of that mould. Whatever his leadership qualities they are clearly more subtle and better judged from the inner circle.
