I savour most wins. That won’t be one of them. Of course, 4 points in Round 1 is better than the alternative. I just was hoping to see a lot more than what we saw.

Spargo with 108 SuperCoach points ?

The aim is to win a flag. On that evidence we are a gazillion miles away from it. So yeah, that’s disappointing. It’s cool that you’re entirely satisfied with 4 points at home against a half strength Dockers. Others look at the bigger picture.

A good weekend for the McDonald family. Slimmed down T Mac is the best T Mac. I’ve regularly potted him on here but he made a real difference today.

Pretty much what I expected. An uninspiring win against a severely undermanned Freo. May and Lever will keep us in many contests this year. A Round 1 win is welcome but none of the other teams will be shaking in their boots watching that performance.

Ffs how do you not score then.

GAMEDAY: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
If I hear after the game, “we were unhappy to get beaten in the contest, we pride ourselves on that” I’m gonna vomit. We have no reason to be proud of it. None.

Seriously though what the hell is happening with our stoppage work? We’re getting belted.

Forgot Hunt was even playing.

Jackson is freakishly mobile for someone his size.

Surely they don’t torture everyone watching with a 2 point win from here. Against this Freo side. Surely not.

Agreed, although tbh I’ll take a Round 1 win any way it comes.

Dear AA selectors, That guy who is owning the game in the back half with 500 metres gained? Number 1? His name is Steven May. That name again. Steven May. Cheers. Enjoy the game.

Big honour to receive your jumper from Junior. Play well Jimmy J.

NON MFC: Rd 01 2021
Watching Howe trudge off the ground looking forlornly at the scoreboard. Warms the heart.

Thankfully we have BT to remind us of the longer quarters with constant references to how much more the teams are scoring.

[censored] you Richmond. Why do they do the little things so well? Doesn’t even take talent. But they do them better than anyone. Dusty is an absolute freak though.

Farewell Oscar McDonald
Oscar becoming a gun forward would be the most Melbourne thing ever.

AFLW: Rd 07 vs Adelaide
I haven’t seen every game but the North game was the slickest performance I’ve seen this year. I said in that game day thread that we would be giving the flag a real crack. Yesterday was more of a contested game where we pummeled the opposition into submission If we bring yesterday’s effort and the skill execution that we showed against North, we can and will beat anyone.

That has to be the base level for the rest of the season. The pies made us look second rate and will do again if we drop anywhere below that level. But smashing a top 4 side is promising signs.

What is with the lack of inanity and exclamation marks? Has picket been trolling DLand this whole time? I’m confused, but thankful. Cheers picket.

PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Fremantle
Someone else (Axis of Bob maybe?) posted our conversion from entries being basically the same as the Bulldogs. And we scored well against Richmond. Our failing against the Dogs was in the middle where we had no personnel. Well, that and our ball movement being noticeably sloppier than the opposition but that’s par for the course.

Nibbler’s value has significantly increased with rotations dropping to 75 and the return to full length quarters. The boy can run as far as the day is long. Couple that with what looks to be a spell of strong form and It wouldn’t surprise me to see him playing the majority of games this year. This game is must win IMO. If we don’t, it’s not an overstatement to say that Goodwin immediately goes on notice. He’s essentially done that to himself by stating in so many words that top 4 is the pass mark. We simply ,must start the season on our home ground against Freo with a W.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Bulldogs
Yep, I’ll save my outrage for when we get smashed with a full strength side.
