Happy with those ins. The three talls will be an interesting watch. I’d pretty much always play Bennell if fit as he has too much class to overlook, but have to place faith in Burgo and co on how he gets managed. Very happy to see Sparrow get a crack. Really need to win this one. It’s time to make a statement about how serious we are this year.

No doubt, but just the thought of the Chad winning Charlie amuses me.

Well [censored] me that’s the last time I read the Facebook comments for a while. Numerous calls to drop Oscar. For T Mac. Who apparently should be moved back to defence. So essentially robbing both Peter and Paul, then kicking Peter in the nuts. And another bright spark chiming in with: “Weideman the ?,,, won’t be getting any cheap goes in the goal square like 2 weeks ago... hasn’t done nothing again” It’s like asking Cletus from the Simpsons what he thinks team selection should be.

Did lol at Chad Wingard.

We are placing a ridiculous amount of responsibility on players if that action is worth a two match ban. Jetta clearly leads with his head. It’s poor technique on his part. If you reversed the jumpers and told me hand to heart you’d be happy with a two match ban for that, then I really have no words.

How true this is. I’m continually struck by how bog ordinary the league is these days. Compare league leaders Port to a Hawthorn, Geelong or St Kilda in their heyday. No comparison. Top 8 is well within the reach this year for this reason alone.

McStay getting two weeks for the bump on Jetta is a joke tbh. I’d be filthy if it was a Melbourne player What exactly is McStay meant to do im that situation when Jetta puts his head down and charges into him? Jump out of the way? Even Goodwin in the presser acknowledged that players need to be better at turning their body before contact. It really seems like the match review process and basic common sense are an ill fit.

Yep, holding the man isn’t ruled anywhere near enough. Brisbane clearly brought an aggressive mentality but they overstepped and got away with a lot of garbage on the weekend. If the umpires are going to let this go then we will have to consider the old ‘if you can’t beat em join em’ approach.

Surely Gus has run out of lives. Almost anyone would be an upgrade atm. Wouldn’t mind seeing Sparrow get a go

It was a hot game in the wet tonight. It looked every bit like two top 8 sides going toe to toe. We were our own worst enemy in terms of fluffing chances, but if we continue to bring that level every week we can and should put our name in the hat at the end of the year.
-
And should’ve had several more score involvements had we kicked straight. He also noticeably went to another level in the second half. Had we won he would’ve been pivotal.
-
We have no toes left. That’s how many times we have shot ourselves in the foot tonight.

Jonesy ♥️

Jackson has presented superbly all night. Loved his game.

Gus has to go.

12 point turnaround. Harley just had to slot that.

“You just feel like Tom Dyson is close to cracking don’t you? He’s right on the edge of breaking out the straight jacket but never quite reaches the padded cell. He’s a tease isn’t he?”
-
Love the straight swap. No more required. Another good week at the selection table.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
P-man replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
So um...how bloody exciting is this kid? Talk about strings to his bow. Just the way someone of his size can glide around the ground, coupled with his skills. It’s going to be a treat watching him develop. He also didn’t seem to show any signs of fatigue after 86% game time. The recruiters have nailed this one. He is something special -
6. Gawn 5. Trac 4. Viney Worth pausing to reflect on how unbelievably good these three were today. 3. Weid 2. Oliver 1. Langdon

I especially love the thought of Dermott Brereton having to sit and watch every minute of that. After his endless condescending attitude towards everything Melbourne. And after a week where he suggested Hawthorn could be like Richmond of 2015 who bounced back to win two flags. And Clarkson will coach for the next two decades. Time to turn down the heat on the hair straightener, Dermie. Your team is garbage. And how glorious it is.

Positives everywhere, especially in the middle of the ground where we were dominant. But for the first time in a long time, we look dangerous in the forward 50. Owed in no small part to Weideman flying at everything and bringing the ball to ground with Pickett looking dangerous whenever he gets within 10 metres of the drop of the ball. Jackson is going to be a ten year plus player. And a bloke called Harley Bennell is looking like a god send. Many on here have been calling out forever to fix up the forwardline. On today’s evidence we have taken big strides towards doing just that. Reward for effort. Of which there was bucketloads. We’re back baby.

Jacko has been seriously good today. Another year or two in the system. Wowee.

Percentage party.

The oohs and aahs in the comm box when Trac gets the ball.
