  1. Those two can co-exist. It’s about what he can produce on the field in isolation, as well as what returning to Melbourne specifically can do for him, the club and the supporters.
  2. I don’t see much “pining”. It’s about an openness to the idea. It’s actually not just about the romanticism and it’s fairly arrogant to dismiss it as such. Also, it’s just wrong to think that him being a Melbourne player is irrelevant. It’s relevant on several fronts. Especially with the player in question.
  3. That’s all well and good but it ignores what he did prior to going to Freo. This isn’t just about the romanticism attached to it. We know he can play. He’s been at Freo for five minutes in the scheme of things.
  4. I have memories of Roos saying he could be an A grade defender. But in saying that he was never exactly known for his defending ability. It’s hard to picture it.
  5. It’s a concern and it would be buyer beware. But we know with Hoges that 95% of the battle is mental. He’s not a happy man up there and it’s showing. The lure of family and friends clearly hasn’t translated the way he may have hoped. He’d be in familiar surrounds at the club where he knows he has produced his best football. Id be shocked to see it happen but acquiring Bennell was a shock and very unMelbourne-like so you never know.
  6. I’d have him back. Talent like that doesn’t disappear.
  7. Would be a dramatic turnaround for Bruce to cause us any issues. Has been beyond rubbish this year.
  8. English is ripe for an old fashioned Preussing.

  10. He did two fifths of [censored] all as head coach for years on end. Enter Neil Balme as GM of football, Caracella as midfield coach and Leppitsch as forwards coach. They win a premiership the very next year. Call me cynical but I seriously doubt the extent of Hardwick’s influence on their success.
  11. Have long thought Hardwick is a knobend. He just continues to cement that view. The guy has weird anger issues for someone of his age.
  12. The fact there are two Wagners is to both their detriment. It adds to the beigeness. Two serviceable players with neither having any standout traits seems to end up being beige squared. It doesn’t surprise me he has fans inside the club. He’s a better player than he gets credit for, but he’s down the pecking order now. My main issue with him is consistency. You don’t quite know what you’re going to get, which is a gamble at AFL level. You want role players to be reliable, first and foremost. That said, he is worth his spot in the ranks. We’ve seen far worse players than him come through the doors. I wouldn’t blow a gasket if he got selected. I’d just be quietly hoping for the good Wagner.
  13. Lol this would be amazing.
  14. Unless he falls away dramatically, Trac is a lock Oliver is on the edge. If he comes home with a wet sail he’s a chance but the general consensus seems to be that he’s only come good the last few weeks, which isn’t actually true. Hopefully his end to the year becomes too good to ignore. Pretty much only Melbourne supporters fully appreciate the season that May has had. Some of his best games have been in losses so have garnered less attention. Will be lucky to make the squad but he’d be worthy if he did. Next to no chance he makes the final side. Haven’t heard his name mentioned anywhere. Max has had a couple of average games and now missed a couple more which will cost him. He will make the squad but it’s looking likely they will go with NicNat and Goldstein. Grundy is no chance.
  15. God Richmond are awful to watch.
  16. Not reading too much into this. Adelaide have a tendency to make decent opposition look like flag favourites. Naughton is the danger man though. He makes them a much more damaging side having a genuine target, much like our turnaround with Weideman. Bont also looks to have captured some form. Still backing us in, but the Dogs will provide a bigger test than our last three opponents combined. If we can roll them comfortably it’s time to start believing again.
  17. Was very impressive in his appearance on the Sunday footy show. A great representative for the club.
  18. I really wish you were wrong. Regrettably, you’re not. I would much rather watch Preussy running around than T Mac but a Preuss for Gawn straight swap makes the most sense.
  19. I will take a win but we should thump the Dogs tbh.
  20. I’ve liked him from day dot. He’s a proper footballer. Will be around for a while to come.
  21. 6. Langdon - best game for the club to date. In terms of what he is meant to do there was no-one better. 5. Oliver 4. May 3. Petracca 2. Melksham - 8 inside 50s (1st), 407 metres gained (2nd), 2 goals, 6 score involvements. That’s a fair return. 1. Brayshaw
  22. I’m gonna pull a @Wiseblood and just say I love you all. Great win.
  23. I’ve sent the gloating text to my Pies mate. So no.
  24. Taylor Adams having a sook makes me happy.
  25. Is Vanders even human? He got absolutely smashed then.
