Well, it was a game for 10 minutes. Always going to be tough when you don't know how to move the ball and/or score.

He shouldn't be allowed to commentate Hawk games.

It's ugly as hell, but it's competitive so far.

Props again for this concept. JV this week. Worth a look if you haven't done so already.

At least it won't be a train. A car wreck sounds alright.

We all know the main issue with Tappy, namely his aerobic capacity. He has the skills and the toughness but he can't run which is restricting his ability to impact the game. If he can work on that and shed some kilos to look a bit less like a bouncer and more like a footballer, he'd be a decent player.

We'll need to play our absolute best footy to keep it respectable. The stop start style of moving the ball with players doing statue impersonations all over the ground isn't going to cut it today. Need to show some sort of evidence that players are doing some offensive drills at training. All that said, slowing the game down is probably our only hope of keeping the margin to under 10 goals... I entered this post wanting to be positive. Honest.

I'm not Grimes' biggest fan, but saying he's worse than Evans? On what possible basis? Evans can't even get a game.

How lucky are we Chris Dawes said no to us.

Tick for leadership no doubt, and reserve final judgement til we have a fully functioning forward line. But it's disappointing he hasn't been able to reproduce efforts like that against the Crows. He was actually superb that day and has been a shadow of that player since. -
Feeing cryptic are we mate? Yes, it is. Perhaps not a competitive one. With Roos on board and wins now a realistic outcome, I'm still focused on getting the most out of rest of the season. That includes performance AND results, and by association, ladder position. I still care about the lot. It would admittedly be very handy if I didn't.
-
I'm not silly (those snickering, be quiet), I appreciate there are greater considerations than final ladder position. Arguably much greater. I also would never accuse someone who voted 0 as not caring about the club, cause that is not just stupid, it's insulting. But I cannot understand the thought process in voting 0. I mean geeze, at least vote 1. It's a competition after all, isn't it?
-
There's a difference between "worrying" about it and caring about it were it to eventuate. I'm not sitting awake at night dreading a wooden spoon. Partly cause there's a very real chance of it happening and it's out of my control so it's a waste of energy. But if we get it, sure, I'll be a bit annoyed that the MFC gets chalked up in the history books as the joke of the competition for another year. Now let's talk about all those tasty picks we could get. Cause that mentality has served us real well up until now.
-
That's the thing though. There's a difference between "not very upset" and point blank not caring. If you DO NOT CARE about finishing dead last, then you can spin it any way you like, but there is an argument that the club has beaten a lot of the fighting spirit out of you.

Jokes aside, I think performance wise we will bounce back. We have to. There is just no way we will kick the ball as poorly as we did last week. I can't remember the last time a Melbourne side kicked that poorly. It wasn't just the usual suspects. It was Vince, it was Kent, it was Watts. It was the whole damn team. That game absolutely should have been won. It was pleading to be won. I won't mozz it by tipping a margin, but I think we'll see a much better performance this week.
-
League Teams on Fox just treating the fixture as a joke. Dixon reckons the Hawks will use Melbourne to "floss their teeth". Shaw says we won't kick more than 4 goals. The only game where Dermott didn't even bother asking for tips. Ah, what fun.
-
Oh go on, be a sport. It's clearly good [censored].
-
Happy with those changes. Hopefully Maxy can continue his good VFL form and clunk a few this time. Using both hands.
-
That's the theory I'm going with. He's not afraid to put it on the table and make known his view about the impact it had on the club. I don't think it's something that should forever be mentioned in hushed tones. As long as this is all part of the process of moving on, so be it.

A different F word to the one often blurted out when watching us play.

Players to target at the end of the year
P-man replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I really liked the look of Hunt when he first arrived on the scene but he has stagnated for some reason. Still, as an upgrade on McKenzie he'd be worth a punt. -
I don't for a moment buy into a theory that he is protecting brand Roos. Totally unfounded and unfair. Roos has nothing to prove in taking on the enormous task of rebuilding this club. The guy has barely warmed the seat. It's a bit early to be jumping all over his words in post match pressers, to put it mildly. Let's save the labels of monumental FUs for those that actually ARE. This was some raw honesty in a press conference that some people (who incidentally aren't in the inner sanctum) saw differently. No-one is beyond criticism, but we need to back this man in 100%. This is the last roll of the dice for the MFC imo.

Players to target at the end of the year
P-man replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for posting BTMV. Bulldust or not, it is interesting reading. I wouldn't be all that unhappy if that scenario played out (although Wellingham has stunk it up big time of late so wouldn't want to be moving heaven and earth to get him) -
I don't blame supporters for cynicism about Toumpas after witnessing an astounding number of high draft picks that have gone on to do pretty much nothing. To rub salt in the wound, they've had to watch the players taken immediately after him go from strength to strength and now be rated as future superstars of the AFL. But if you focus on the fact there are new people at the club who are responsible for his development, he is still a highly rated Pick 4 in just his second year. There's still a lot to be optimistic about when it comes to Jimmy Toumpas.
