I'm not overly concerned about the low scoring this season. Roos' job was to stem the bleeding first and foremost. He's made reasonable ground on that objective. If we are scoring an average of 61.2 a game NEXT season, then I'll start to worry.
-
Yeah I had a feeling that was wrong but couldn't be bothered editing.
-
He'll sign on for the extra year. When asked if he was more open to 3 years now, his response was "absolutely". That is Paul Roos speak for, "yeah, I'm doing it".
-
Yeezus. I can't imagine it and I'm planning to keep it that way.

It was Malthouse's wife wasn't it? Yeah she loved hearing that piece of news. It was cringeworthy watching her try to bait Roosy on the dinner that precisely no-one but her gave a stuff about. She is such a slimeball. An ugly human in every sense.

I've never heard of Thompson saying Essendon isn't a great club. That quote would have been run in the media for weeks on end. The most he said was that he still barracked for Geelong and "unfortunately I'm at Essendon" which I interpreted as nothing more than a humourous slip of the tongue. He's a premiership captain from Essendon whose nickname is "bomber" ffs. He doesn't hate Essendon. His reactions during the doping saga suggest to me that he had nothing to do with what went down, and if anything his resentment towards the club is over the fact that he's now left holding the baby. Besides which, if anything, he will be even more careful over such matters in the future. I would love him at Melbourne. He turned Geelong into arguably the greatest team of the modern era and one of the greatest of all time. He's now got Essendon humming at the most important time of the year. His record speaks for itself. Plus he's a character and a likeable person. Sign him up if we can, absolutely and without reservation.

I wouldn't place Pies and Swans in the same category as those other three. We never pushed them and never really looked in it, whereas those other three presented real opportunities to get the win. So those two games I'd place in a category of marginally competitive. The rest I would agree with, and it demonstrates how far we've come from last season on performance alone.

Not much that hadn't been covered already. Most notable was: - re the Wingard free, did not dispute that it was a free, but questioned whether one should have been awarded to Pedersen for a similar incident. The manner in which he said it indicated to me that he shared the frustration over the imbalance in the umpiring. - broke down the three key mistakes towards the end of the game. Jones quickly playing on he attributed to Jones not hearing the whistle so [censored] happens basically. Dawes bomb to no-one he said was clearly the wrong choice, but Dawes knew that as soon as he came off the ground. Grimes OOTF he said was the "most forgiveable" given the situation and the fact that Grimes has no option but to play on quickly and therefore attempt the risky kick under pressure. - said he had not heard about the Malceski rumour until coming on the show and that he had not approached him. Did however confirm that a player like Malceski is needed, i.e. a running half back with clean distribution. Conceded that as good as our defensive group is, we lack a player of that ilk.

The only one you left out was, "what did you make of <insert debatable umpiring decision>?" When you think about it, the guy has the patience of a saint.

Jets makes his move into the top ten, scoring 10+ votes in 6 out of 11 games played. A remarkable return. Garlo finally notches up his first 10+ to be on the edge of the top 20. Nearing the finish, the captain looks to have POTY sewn up. Dunny and Dom almost neck and neck for second and JV snapping at their heels. Crossy remains fifth for now, despite having played four games less than most of those around him. I took a lot of solace in our training being "elite". We might have lost by 100+ points every second week, but boy, could we train.
-
That's a fair benchmark. I'll be rapt if pigdog can stick around as long. Fox run polls on "who is the best.." and one of them was "who is the best tackler?" Lenny Hayes of course ranked highly. I couldn't help but think Riley would poll, if only people knew who he was.
-
The final tally is lower than I was expecting, but it was more in reference to technique and commitment which to my eyes was a step up. Maybe I just love Pigdog,

6. Tyson 5. N Jones 4. Jetta 3. Jamar 2. Garland 1. Frawley Bail and Watts unlucky.

A decent side would've thrashed Port today. They were awful. Unfortunately the stupid decisions continue to cost us especially in the attacking half. We should've won this game, plain and simple. Two main team positives were the tackling (which was as good as we've seen this season) and the quick hands to get ourselves out of trouble. One major individual positive was Garland's game. It's taken a while but he just might be getting back into form. Jetta has been a revelation, nothing short of it. Tyson has the makings of our next genuine star. JKH makes us a better side with his willingness to move the ball on quickly. Watts had a game of two halves. He and Howe are the conundrum. What is their best position? Watts behind the ball changed the complexion of the game. Blease and Tappy worked themselves into it and should see out the season. Personally I think they are worth persisting with. Blease more than Tappy. Grimes is going to be the death of me.

Umps are just willing them over the line now.

Agree on Pigdog. As Luke "say that again" Darcy would say, I just love the way he goes about it.
