  1. Who did? And did they say they hate him personally or hate him on the field? I'll assume you can discern the difference. If your only contribution to a positive thread is going to be snide, back it up. If not, a better option may be to pipe down and let the supporters welcome the new signing with optimism.
  2. Seems a good fella. Hopefully he can rediscover the passion and form pre-druggendon saga.
  3. I can see the logic to that. I was viewing it more as a way for the fans to show our appreciation for the job he's doing at the club.
  4. Adelaide have lost their best player. Crows fans seem to believe Crouch will step up to the plate but you don't replace Danger so easily. Sloane will carry a lot more of the load in 2016. I don't think the Dogs will necessarily pick up where they left off. Talented young list but teams will be more prepared for them next season, plus they have a tougher draw. Richmond are just plain brittle. That's three more teams it wouldn't surprise me to see around 9-13, the same area I expect us to fall into. Wins will be hard earned next season. The competition is evening out.
  5. PJ should really be up there first. Every bit as important as Roos. Arguably moreso. Jackson, Roos, Goodwin, Jones, Vince, Viney, McDonald, Hogan, Brayshaw Leadership, backbone and future.
  6. I can't believe he's 18. He would definitely have been the one who bought the booze for his mates.
  7. Looking good Andy. Notifications will be a great addition.
  8. We don't need or want another Crowley. Even when playing Gold Coast, Viney is the one who gets the job on Ablett in a run with, with the intention of winning his own ball. Pure taggers are a dying breed. Halfback is Grimes' best position. Slowly but surely I can see him returning to the player he was at the beginning of his career. But it remains a very big season for him. One that will determine if his career will continue on steadily or peter out.
  9. Grimes won't be done as an AFL player post-2016. The question will be whether or not he plays for the MFC, should he find himself falling down the pecking order. He's frustrated over the years but I hope he sticks around. There's something to be said for players who absolutely bleed red and blue, and he's a credit to himself and the club in everything he does. He showed some positive signs last season. Just needs to build on that and take his opportunities.
  10. You tried to pull off the condescending reply when defending Neeld as well. It didn't work then either. 1. Was the coaching of a lesser standard? More than likely. They were/are still professional AFL coaches. Using any of their shortcomings to cancel out five years of a player's career is seriously clutching at straws. 2. So you were willing to back in a hopeless coach simply because you felt he was addressing the culture? That is an incredibly reckless position to take. I doubt it's true in any case. If I had the inclination, I'm certain I could find posts of yours that defended Neeld more holistically than that. Such was your passionate defending of Neeld, you were skeptical about the Roos appointment at the beginning. You felt Neeld was the right man for the job, you stated that repeatedly, and you were wrong. You would do yourself a huge favour by just admitting that. But you won't, because you think pride is better preserved by doing these silly mental gymnastics. 3. Again, point to where I've been critical of Watts in this thread. Scroll back and you'll see that I think Watts will play at least 11 games. PD has overshot there. It's a big season for him, no doubt. He'll need to find consistency in 2016 to prevent being overtaken by those knocking on the door.
  11. There are two things I find bizarre about this post. 1. That you would consider the coaching prior to Roos SO inept that it can totally excuse the first five years of Watts' career. A frankly ridiculous proposition. 2. That you think somehow people have forgotten how you routinely defended Neeld up until the day he was sacked. Now you rewrite history to claim that you only defended him for instilling a strong culture. The logic being that you were willing to overlook a coach who was detrimental to player development simply because he brought tough love. Bizarre stuff.
  12. https://chimericalredamancy.wordpress.com/2014/05/28/why-im-not-a-grammar-nazi/ "Learning a language is never easy, especially to someone who hasn’t been given a shot at as good an education as they would’ve liked. And when people like that have the courage to try their hand at communication in a world where scrutiny, scorn and criticism is just a less than perfectly prounounced vowel away, it’s pretty remarkable. Shooting them down by disparagingly ‘correcting’ them will eventually discourage them from learning." ...or participating. Tough love my foot. IDAD is right. Lay off him.
  13. Probably the best effort from AFL.com in five years or more. No howlers in that side, although White is a defender and Harmes and Stretch should be swapped around. If I was to predict the side that would line up in Round 1, that's it.
  14. Wing is probably where he's least suited with his lack of leg speed. He was a clearance machine for Peel. That hasn't fully translated to AFL level. He's still building up the engine to get around the ground. If he can do that he'll be a much improved player. His skills and decisions in traffic are very good. I'd like to say he can play Round 1 but realistically he'll have to force his way into the side again. Glad he's been kept. Can do a lot worse for depth. Terlich remaining and Viv delisted would've just been wrong.
  15. H nominating himself I think was more out of embarrassment over his performance last season. It was his way of saying to the fans, "I can do better". Hopefully he's right. Gawn is a ripper all round. We're pretty blessed to have him at the club.
  16. Settle down, Tiptoes. It's a joke. You might as well change your avatar and sig now. The only thing preventing Watts from playing 11 games this season will be injury.
  17. If they really wanted to punish you, they'd make you take a two month sabbatical from posting climate change skeptic graphs and article snippets.
  18. Mine arrived today.
  19. Same. The new logo sort of blends in but I don't mind it.
  20. Definite hints of Sydney/Freo in the build. I hope we're more attractive to watch in the long run though. Granted that Hogan alone is worth the price of admission.
  21. His sidestep is surprisingly good when you see it for the first time. Unexpected almost given his general style of play. He definitely has a uniquely self-deprecating style about him. Burgo asks him to sell himself to the fans, and his three main points are inside player, slow, and carrying too much weight Compare that with Tracka who would've gladly sponsored his own billboard. I'm leaning towards it being a good thing. He seems like the type that will always be pushing himself to improve.
  22. Don't forget Billy and Nibbler. ("The Adventures of Billy and Nibbler". Coming to a football ground near you.)
  23. I know we say this every year, but competition for spots has gone to another level for next season. Locked in, throw away the key, best 22: Jones, Viney, Vince, Hogan, Brayshaw, McDonald, Tyson, Gawn, Garlett Locked in, with the key under the mat, best 22: vandenBerg, Petracca, Salem, Dunn, Jetta That's 14 spots, leaving 8, arguably, to be competed for. With the important addition of KPF depth in the draft, there is reasonably strong competition on every line. Exciting times.
  24. Has Balic not been picked yet? Was touted as possible top ten wasn't he?
  25. Football journalists at the Hun answer to Robbo. Just let that mill around for a little bit.
