Cryptic Message on MFC Social Media - New MFC Logo
P-man replied to Good Times Grimes's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's going to look great on merch. Significant upgrade in that respect. Agree with Clint that some small reference to Demons would've been good, but they are clearly full steam ahead with establishing the city connection and the design reflects that. Less alternate references. -

Vast improvement. Good stuff. -
Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...
P-man replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hypothetical situations about the opinions of Roos vs Goodwin on certain players can be debated but don't seem all that realistic given the input of Taylor and co. That said, I think Roos is savvy and reasonable enough to know that with Goodwin being the inheritor of the team, he should have a significant say in its makeup going forward. If Goodwin felt passionately enough about a certain player, I think he'd get his way. As a matter of speculation, I'd say he was the one driving strongest to get Melksham who is now at the club. -
Needs to stay focused and not let it be too much of a setback. I'll be annoyed if someone else picks him up. All he's ever needed is opportunities to play consecutive games, ala the end of this season and the one prior. I almost get frustrated on his behalf with the way he's been managed. He's a required player for 2016 in my mind. I see improvement in him.

Same with Kane Mitchell I thought.

The sarcasm and blatant rudeness you see on here from some posters is completely unnecessary and is what leads to many threads devolving into sh!tfights. You can't be a complete ar$ehole in the way you critique someone's else's opinion, and then turn around to claim that strictly speaking, you didn't insult them personally. Belittling someone's opinion in an overtly rude way is insulting. If they fire a personal insult back at you, you don't have any right to call foul. You shouldn't have been an ar$ehole in the first place. Keep the humour, but a little diplomacy and class wouldn't go astray. Remember you are talking to another Melbourne supporter. They aren't the enemy.

Them featuring in the top five was a reflection on the state of the list at the time: abysmal. With a much improved list, BnF standings in the season just gone carry a lot more weight.

Thanks for updating me on what my interests are. What does the above even mean? What minority? The critical minority? Where have I been critical of Watts in this thread? I regret responding to you on this subject. I should know better. Every mention of Jack Watts has you acting like someone has taken your first born. You need to come to grips with the fact he's high profile and attracts more attention than the average player. I'm sure he came to terms with it long ago. Here's hoping 2016 is his most consistent season.

Well that's just wrong. He's arguably the only Melbourne player they do give a [censored] about, along with Hogan. His touches get booed or cheered pending on which side of the Watts fence they sit on. He's easily Melbourne's most high profile player and that applies across the spectirum - media and supporters. If other people want to discuss Jack Watts, they're entitled to. If their criticism is OTT, call them on it. But this incessant need to want to cut off every Watts discussion before it starts is crazy. He's always been, potentially, a valuable piece of the puzzle. That hasn't yet come to fruition. If Watts threads bore you, don't contibute to them. If they frustrate you, don't even open them. It's really very simple, isn't it? Telling everyone to stop talking about him doesn't look to have been a successful strategy to date. Personally, I'm interested in what posters see as his best role in 2016.
-
I don't know why you open JW threads. It's clearly not good for your stress levels. I was referring to the supporters at large, not the microcosm that is Demonland. The football public are fascinated by him. "Fixed"? It's just the way it is. Jack Watts topics on Demonland have about two thirds of eff all impact on Watts' progress.

Melbourne Football Club Training - November, 2015
P-man replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jetta and Salem were his two main pin ups weren't they? They're still kicking around. I hope he's enjoying his new job and doesn't have to tolerate too many lemon sucking hair shirt wearers. -
Yet you still open them, OD? He's been an intriguing figure since the day he was drafted and no doubt will be til the day he retires. I doubt there will ever be another player quite like him in terms of the love/hate sentiment from supporters.
-
I've never understood why people do it. Why would you, as a supporter, essentially will Trenners to failure? It doesn't make sense. It's not like we have any say in the planning. So why not just hope for the best outcome? Who knows what will happen with him post-surgery, but surely you'd think positively until he's ruled out. A fit and firing Trenners is a more than handy player. That's what I'm hoping to see next season. As a supporter of him and the team.

Range Rover never came back. Or did he? I miss the weekly polls.

In the entire time I've been coming here I've rarely if ever seen a poster more intent on being confrontational from the get go than yourself. Supporting the Dees might feel like a prison sentence, but this place isn't a prison. You don't need to stab someone in the first week to show that you mean business. The majority of your contributions that I've seen are putting other posters down with little to no substance behind it. I don't know if it is your way of showing that you won't be pushed around, but all you've done is give a very negative portrayal of yourself. And you have the gall to accuse others of "standing over you" as a newcomer? When you act the way you do, people who don't know you from a bar of soap are less likely to not respond in kind. Demonland has its faults, but one thing that I've seen improve over time is the manner in which newcomers are accepted. If you aren't feeling welcome, it might be time to reflect on how you are acting.

I'm pretty sure we have every base covered. A delicious melting pot of crazies. Re Parish's looks, he'll only get targeted if he plays in a manner that attracts such attention. Fyfe is widely admired and praised. Watts attracts derision from all corners. Both boyish looking with pretty hair. Poles apart in the way they play.

North and the Dogs getting better fixtures is a good thing. It means the AFL is willing to bend for the smaller Vic Clubs if they are making finals. Win games and, ideally, play attractive footy while doing it.
-
Need to put a whopping big circle around the two Hawthorn fixtures. Can either look upon it as 8 points in the bin, or an opportunity to make a statement to the competition that the Melbourne they have come to love is gone. No team has treated the club with complete and utter disregard quite like the Hawks. All I get from Hawthorn supporting friends is pity. It's sickening. Their bogey side is [censored] Richmond. That alone shows how fallable they can be. Don't make outlandish statements prior to the match about them being "vulnerable". Just go out there and beat them. There are two opportunities to do so.
-
Alot more enticing than the last batch. Actually shows off his neat skills both in close and in open space. The ease with which he can check his kick at the last second to hit a teammate on the chest looks pretty special. Clearly he needs to add some size, but am feeling less edgy about him.
-
It really is this simple. The midfield depth isn't good enough yet to be giving Michie the flick. I rate him higher than most, I concede that, but at the very least he is useful depth.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JESSE HOGAN
P-man replied to Little Richard's topic in Melbourne Demons
His Watts one is better. I've bolded my favourite lines. Keep in mind while reading that he now only refers to Watts as "tippy toes". Good to see he's hitched his wagon onto someone a lot sturdier and safer this time. (Sorry PD. You know I love your work.) -
It's laughably bad, especially from a commercial standpoint. Indeed, I laughed out loud a few times reading it. The biggest chuckle came after seeing that we play the Saints at Etihad twice IF we can get our win column into double figures we should see some Fri/Sat night action in 2017. We'd want to be improving the football brand as well though. The Dogs have got themselves the much better fixture but it's the brand as well as the results that would have contributed to that decision. People want to watch them.
-
If that's directed towards me, you are misinterpreting. I'm not ruling anyone in or out based on a highlights package. If those who have watched him extensively deem him worthy of pick 3, so be it. I'm merely saying that on initial appearances, I wasn't overly excited.
