  3. All wrapped for another year. I have done an unofficial count each week tallying the input of ten voters as opposed to the site's three voters. This system has come up with a very similar top twenty bar a few positions swapped here and there. I'll post final results as well as weekly results and consistency rankings. Hopefully it's of interest to some. I swore I wouldn't do this again this season so hopefully I can stay true to that next season. Demonland Player of the Year: Unofficial Tally Votes (games polling votes/games played) 1. Gawn - 603 (18/22) 2. Viney - 472 (15/21) 3. Watts - 416 (17/22) 4. N Jones - 414 (18/22) 5. 4. NAB still have their name flashed around each week under the change I suggested. Just include some additional nominees at the end as a catch all mechanism.
  5. I hope the AFL addresses it next season. Surely there is a simple solution. Maybe include five additional nominees after the home and away season has concluded to reward the most consistent performers not already nominated. That or use the last five weeks of the season to reward the most consistent. A system where a player can be nominated with one very good game while others with ten or more good games can miss out is so obviously flawed.
  6. Well he certainly rates the list. Has been talking it up in the media for the last two years.
  7. Yep fair enough re injury, but how would you manage him next season? The same question remains. Unless the suggestion is that he's only been reduced by injury and age is having no effect?
  8. It's fair to say Bernie's form faded noticeably towards the end of the season. It's difficult to say how much is due to older legs and injury niggles, but it is key that we get the most we can out him for what's left of his career. We are clearly still thin on the ground for senior leadership so he is playing an important role on and off field. Arguably his best football is played in the middle although that is physically demanding and is one area where we are not short of options. Melksham and (hopefully) Hibberd coming into the side will have further implications for defence and midfield rotations. How should Bernie be managed in 2017 in terms of position and games played?
  9. Scully and Gaff seem to be selections to meet a certain quota for wingmen. Pendlebury deserves selection in the squad. A victim of his own standards. If he makes the 22 it's a different story. Viney is a bit stiff to miss the squad but Merrett is undoubtedly the unluckiest player. His omission makes me happy. Essendon fans were feeling a little too happy with themselves for my liking.
  10. Jones is second only to Gawn in terms of consistency this season. All things being equal he's clearly in the top five players. If it's a BnF for just the second half of the season then Tyson could be 2nd. If it's for the entire season, he gets bumped down the list. Same goes for T Mac. A strong second half to the year but it doesn't cancel out the first half. Viney's last few games were poor, but for the bulk of the rest of the year he was outstanding. Around the halfway point of the season he was sitting top five in the coaches award. Below is not a prediction as much as what I think it should be. It wouldn't surprise me to see the club BnF have T Mac in the top five. 1. Gawn 2. Viney 3. N Jones 4. Watts 5. Tyson 6. Jetta 7. T Mac 8. Vince
  11. Sorry, I can't look past Connolly's Essendon colours shining through in that article. An opportunity to turn the disgrace that is the EFC and their supporters into the feel good story of the year. Pass the bucket. As for the contrast with the MFC (which is just an excuse to pump up his own club imo), it's a sad end to the year and the Roos era, but as VP alludes to, when you remove the emotion it can be explained to a degree. Articles that give little creed to reasons outside of "the players don't care" are basically lazy. The youth at all costs policy adopted at selection this season yielded some pleasing and surprising results, but the bite in the backside seemed inevitable, and it arrived in the last two weeks. My greatest hope is that the last game acts as a driver for the players over the off season.
  12. Pretty sure Norf fans called him Pedders. When he switched across, he became the Pedobear.
  13. AFL really shafted us hard giving us this fixture to end the season and farewell Ross. Geelong were always a chance to be top four. We probably would've lost anywhere but it would unlikely have been the trainwreck of today.
  14. Not the first time I've said it. Thank God for Richmond.
  15. Genuine question marks now, and the heartless performances don't help us at the bargaining table.
  16. lol That is truly disgraceful if true. But I realise you have to take these things with a grain of salt. We saw today what happens when Gawn, Viney, Jones and Vince are down. We get bent over. A very sad way to end Roos' tenure. Goodwin still has alot of work ahead of him.
  17. Still some work to do for the recruiters. The lack of quality ball users is there for all to see..
  18. So just to be clear. It's a game day thread. We're losing by 70 points with a quarter to go. And you're surprised by the emotion and negativity. Okay then.
  19. Hogan has laid 2 tackles over the last 5 weeks.
  20. With Jones and Vince down on output it's exposing a young group that has run out of gas. We've ridden our luck to some extent playing a team of babies every week. This has been coming.
  21. Viney and Hogan are two of our very best players. One has hit a horrible form patch, the other honestly doesn't look like he cares that much.
  22. These foaming Geelong fans are making this a difficult watch. Apparently it should be a Cats free kick every 10 seconds.
  23. Bloody rapt with this news
  24. Strange decision not to bring Pedo back. Oh well. Excited to see what Salem can produce.
  25. Really? Still? TrenGOVE. "Mitchie" I can accept but an ex captain of the club deserves to have his name spelled right.
