  1. Even if you're kidding, it's not that bad an idea. Something needs to be done, that's for sure.
  2. Very good player in his day but he's well and truly done and has been for the better part of 18 months. Pass for mine.
  3. There aren't enough nice things you can say about a bloke who helps save your football club.
  4. I'm not seeing a stark difference in his pace from those highlights tbh Steve. He does look quicker but nothing jaw dropping. He's been a great pick up and looks to have his eyes firmly set on the ultimate prize. I had no idea he was close mates with T Mac either. Wouldn't have picked that. Actually now that I think about it, they might practice kicking together... (couldn't help it)
  5. Agree entirely. I would prefer to see Grimes extended the one year but am more flexible on seeing him let go than I am Trenners who should absolutely be kept for another year. Gutting our depth (including a swag of senior players) after a year with a relatively clean injury run would not be a smart way to go. As much as some wish to claim otherwise, these guys ARE AFL standard players.
  6. He has had his moments in a Melbourne jumper, Daweshy. The win away at Adelaide was an important one along the way. He wasn't just good in that game. He was dominant. It's a pity there weren't more games in that category. I think his time at the club might be done but all things must pass as George said.
  7. Viney should make the squad but won't get near the 22.
  8. Top 10 all but locked in. Gawn a deserved runaway winner and Viney pretty safe in second spot. Jones and Watts can't be caught but the weekend's game will decide who finishes third and fourth. Fifth spot is still up for grabs to be decided between Tyson, Vince and Jetta. Demonland Player of the Year: Unofficial Tally Votes (games polling votes/games played) 1. Gawn - 603 (18/21) 2. 9. It looks a long way off atm but that would be a fantastic thing to see. I want to see him play a final in a Melbourne jumper. I'm pretty sure that would be his aim as well. It may require going him on for a couple more seasons.
  10. Too small a sample evidently. His kicking has been one of his real strengths this season. That's one thing that's a little annoying when I think back to the grubbers and floaters that were coming off his boot last season.
  11. You managed to sit through that entire game? Wow man. Kudos.
  12. Hunt routinely gets name dropped on the Foxtel shows when Melbourne's progress is discussed, as well as on 3AW and SEN. I think the media and footy public have definitely noticed the difference he's made. Hopefully for his sake he gets recognised in the last round. It's been unlucky that there has always been a player or two to make a case ahead of him for a nomination each week. As I said earlier, I think he's had the most consistent year of any of our nominees, including Petracca. It would be odd for him not to get a nomination on that basis but it matters little in the overall scheme of things.
  13. The Carlton side on the weekend was more than 2 years older than ours on average. They are a developing side but young they are not. We still should've beaten them, and would have if we brought their level of intensity. The poor goal kicking may well have been a flow on from the overall lack of concentration. Accuracy in front of goal hasn't been a major problem for us this season. Our accuracy rate is second only to GWS. On Sunday we couldn't buy a goal.
  14. There's little doubt that Howe is playing better football. He's always been a skillful player and this season he's produced a greater level of consistency. The Howe we were getting was of little value to us though. He refused to pull his finger out and seems incapable of leadership which is what we needed from someone around his age. His Collingwood supporter/"I had a photo of Bucks in my wallet" reasoning for the move said something of his mindset and maturity. The question now remains as to how long he will be happy swallowing his pride and remaining a defender despite the promises of a forward position. As to who won the trade, it has fluctuated. After we played Collingwood the first time this year and Kennedy had a day out, Pies fans were mourning the fact that they'd let him go. Now there's a change of heart. Kennedy certainly isn't dead weight. He can play a few different roles and his best games have been very good. The worst you can say is that he's handy depth which I'll take at this stage.
  15. In a way I'm glad he wasn't picked. He seems like someone that would use it to spur him on.
  16. Looking at it logically, if supporters can spot these things, it's a very safe bet that a room full of highly paid professionals can spot them. The question is why they aren't actioned upon. We know previously there have been communication breakdowns between coaching box and players. You'd hope that was addressed sufficiently to ensure no repeats. Is it possible that a hard tag was placed on the aforementioned players and simply not executed well? Possible but unlikely. So failing these things, what could be the reasoning behind it? Perhaps some derived benefit in the future rather than the now? This would be disappointing given what was on the line on the weekend. Whatever the case, I think a lot of supporters remain hopeful that Goodwin is a bit more flexible in his match day approach.
  17. Out: Weed, ANB, Stretch In: Pedo, Garlett (if fit), Kennedy
  18. I hadn't noticed too bad a stench for what it's worth.
  19. His hands were back to their reliable best, but his kicking (field and goal) were sub par to put to mildly. His job is to kick goals. Workrate was there but his body language isn't great atm. I recognise that he wasn't helped by the Weed selection and overall he sneaks into the top six on a dour day.
  20. Some of the commentary on the fringe players borders on the absurd. Apparently we need a squad of 40 superstars.
  21. So now even Dunn and Garland aren't AFL standard. Honestly. You can prefer a mass cull of the list of you like. I'm pretty happy with where we are sitting. Minimal changes necessary.
  22. After reflection. 6. Jetta 5. O Mac 4. Hunt 3. T Mac 2. Oliver ...... 1. Hogan I guess
  23. Michie was always going to have to be exemplary to avoid being smacked. You're right, he wasn't that bad. I was more disappointed with ANB, not withstanding his role limiting his ability to have an influence. He looked particularly slow today.
  24. So basically gut our depth entirely. There goes a strong Casey side to maintain pressure for spots. What happens if we get a few injuries? With no Dunn or Garland, who are the next in line KPDs? Despite today's putrid effort, the list is in good shape now. A slash and burn of the list at the end of the season would be completely fuckng bonkers.
  25. I thought Garlett was injured, not dropped.
