All the final standings for all leagues have been calculated, and are listed below. Congratulations to all the winners in their respective leagues. We had some impressive scores, well done girls and guys. Clintosaurus coach of "Dump Buddies" narrowly beat last years winner The Hallowed Turf "Beast Mode" and won the 2015 "Bluey". A special mention to the coach of "Centimetre Perfect" who was listed in our Supporter Group league. Finished 84th overall and only needed another 831 pts to take home the major cash prize. Thats an excellent result, and probably a few sleepless nights along the way. I am up to doing it all again in 2016, so if you want to nominate for Demonland SC comp in 2016 now, I'll pencil you in as a starter, or you can do it when the 2016 thread starts up. Thanks to those that provided the data required to compile the finishing order for their various leagues. PS: I hope all our new players that joined in 2015 enjoyed being part of the fun. Go Dees!

Demonland finished on top of the "Legends" Ladder at the end of the "Head to Head" Season. 14 Wins 3 Losses.(Congratulations Andy). Winning himself an all expenses paid trip to the Gold Coast.Compliments of Ansett Airlines. But then failed to then go on and win the Grand Final , therefore foreits that prize. The panel voted that was a bit harsh, so in goodwill, has offered up a family pass to the Clayton Twin Drive-in, on any Monday Night. (this also includes as many in the car boot as you can fit in.) *Current record stands at 6* (Check the 'The Herald' movie guide when choosing your movie.... enjoy.) NixonsChicksU18s for finishing last on the ladder and also had the lowest 'Total Season Points' of any of the "Legends" teams, wins a complimentry trip with the Leyland Bros ®, and gets a lifetime experience to swim unattended with Kakadus' crocs. (hoping to see you back sometime soonish.)

What the hell is he doing at the footy? When he should be at home making more baby boys.

I will see if I can find the answer to the question. I still have stuff tucked away in my Demon archives. IIRC, it covers the late 60's to the early 80's. Maybe I will find the answer in there.

Great to know Gary Baker is still a Demon. Even better he is doing well, what a footballer he was. I loved how he went about playing footy. One of my favourites. Thanks for sharing, what a suprise that would have been. Something you will never forget. He always looked like he would have been right at home sitting on a Harley.

We are really winding back the clock now DC. The best I can do is, when I seen a Hardeman in my class or year. I figured they were related, so got to know him pretty well at the time. You reckon I can remember his name? Michael, I think it was. Could be wrong. I do remember him saying Gary went to another Tech (Moorabin), the reasons why both sons went to different schools I can't remember. We played footy against other schools, I don't recall Bentleigh Tech. Gary's brother as I recall wasn't in the school footy team. I seem to remember he wasn't interested. Why he went to Sturt.... ? I am guessing, pick one Got a better offer?, had a fallout with Barassi.? WJ might remember. Off the top of my head, I can't recall why he left. He was a gun, along with Baker, Parke, Dillon. All suffered serious knee injuries at some stage. As another poster mentioned, Parke was a shocker in front of goal. He was other Howe. Parke could take a screamer, then miss right in front. Dillon was better, more mobile, but he did his knee and wasn't the same again.

Didnt Barassi have a crack at Baker for having a beard? Vaguely remember someone got told to get rid of it. You are correct, Hardeman was a Vic boy, I think you'll find he went to Moorabbin Tech. I went to school with his younger brother @ Sandy tech, I used to corner him to get some inside gossip, but never really got much out of him, as hard as I tried. Edit: having slept on this, I am pretty sure it was Peter Giles, that was told to remove his beard (not Baker)

I don't have any problem with PG speaking up. I agree with his comments. I hope PJ has also chewed out the playing group. These perfromances are no longer accepted. I feel for the new guys (Brayshaw,Hogan,Petracca etc) they see and hear the backlash, and they not to blame, they are still wet behind their ears. If anyone wants the same in 2016 then they have a lot more tolerance than me. I'm just about over this lot.

Now the game plan: I cant; say for sure, if Roos is at fault or if the players just don;t have the smarts to carry out instructions. Either way its up to all involved to find the solution. When we decide to switch on, we look a million bucks.Too many times this year we failed to deliver. We lack burst speed, we fail to man up when we don;t have the ball.We play too far away from our opponents. We play like we train. That is we give off a handball to a player 3 feet away, then fail to block, sheppard, or give off to a player on the run. Not one player is prepared to make an effort to run past to accept a handball, they are all flat footed. Then watch as their opponent runs off them. Leading forwards are overlooked. if spotted we are too slow to move the ball, and the worst, we miss a target and a turnover results, then everyone is caught out. And so it goes. The mids cop it for not presenting support for the backs. But if the backs didn't play so far off their opponents they could be 1/2 a chance to repel an attack.

My playing list for 2016. We have holes on every line. We also have players just making up the numbers on every line. We need a Prem Mid or 2. We also need a power forward to go with Hoges. We need a ruckman to help Gawn as I cant see Jamar being part of it next year. B : Jetta Frost ?? HB : Salem McDonald Stretch C : Tyson vandenBerg Brayshaw HF Vince ?? Petracca F : Kent Hogan Watts R : Gawn N.Jones Viney Int : Alex-Bullen Garlett Newton Trengove This isnt taking into account outstanding injuries (ie Trengove). Its based on a fit list.

Another Season : Harmes King , O.McDonald White These players have shown enough to believe they could be good players, they need more time to develop. Undecided = Fitzpatrick , Hunt , Kennedy-Harris , Mitchie , Riley , Spencer , Toumpas. Fitzpatrick: Could be a handy swing man. He played some pretty good games for Casey when moved to the backline. He bought some of that form with him into the seniors for a few games. His infamous tunnelball didn't help his cause. But there must have been more to just that brain fade. Jury is out. Hunt : Has been on the list for 3 years and has been injury plagued. When he has been fit he hasn't been able to string enough good games together at Casey. Borderline in my book to be a regular, Kennedy-Harris : Another player that hasnt convinced me yet. Mitchie : Been useful in a poor team. A depth player in this point in time. Riley : see above. Spencer : Will never be a top ruckman. He has some good assets but he is just making up the numbers. Toumpas : Remember this 'bubbly' kid we dratfed.? Seems his bubble has burst,he is now floundering. Need upgrading = Cross , Dawes , Dunn , Grimes , Garland , Howe , Lumumba , Pederson Cross : Was handed a lifeline and made the most of it. He has been a good player for us. But his use by date I think is up. Would like to see him stay on as a mentor type player at Casey as he would be a great role model. Dawes : I am marking him down as a big disappointment.Expected a lot more from a key position player. He fails to deliver on a regular basis. Dawes holds his spot only because we have nobody good enough to replace him. Pederson is JUST a player but is name has been thrown around to take Dawe's spot. And Pederson is no game breaker either. We need to find another KPP or we are going nowhere. Dunn : Lucky he wasnt delisted along with Bate. Dunn got a lifeline when moved to the backline. He is servicable, but lets be honest. He is part of a struggling backline. He will get beaten by a strong marking forward, doesnt have the speed to go with running forward. He bustles, hustles and negates.Thats about it. Offers no run out of the backline. Love his big torps but we need to find someone that will give us a lot more. He stays by default. Grimes : I seen some improvement this year, but like Dunn, lacks burst speed, will get beaten in the air.Plays loose most times. In general hasn't got enough weapons. Wouldn't blink an eye if he was traded. Garland : If he has decided to go, he goes. Nothing more than handy down back. Garland is another that doesn't give any run out of the backline. I would like to see him be a Simmo (Carlton) or Kelly type (Geelong). I hope he stays, but couldn;t care less what he decides. Howe : Looks to me as he has checked out. He wasn't much better playing in the forward line. I get the feeling he doesn't like being a backman. he would rather play foward taking speccies. All good making the highlight reel, but a forward needs to be accountable for his opponent. Howe just doesnt come across as giving 100%. Howe could be a real weapon if he decided to make a real effort. Lumumba : I liked the Harry 'O' better than this version. Pederson : Unlucky to get injured when he did. He would have put some pressure on Dawes, and even helped out down back. But just a player. Will have some really good games, then go missing. Gone : Bail , Jamar , M.Jones , McKenzie , Terlich Nothing more to be said here, Thanks guys for your efforts, but we need new blood. A special mention to Jamar, was a top ruckman for awhile.

Might be a bit early, but if the players have checked out, why not look back at 2015 now. Not a lot will change in the coming weeks. Fent your disgust, things that were highlights for you. The players, coach,AFL (MFC related). I could write a book of where it went wrong. Lets not just discuss the lowlights, some positives came about this year. Put aside the last few weeks of despair, and look at the whole picture. What went right, and where the improvement came from, areas we failed. Go for it. I will kick it off will my view on the playing list. You may agree or not but lets hear your point of view, as we all have our own opinions.

Least accurate side in the competition
DeeVoted replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dear Lethal, The Melbourne footy club, is case you haven't noticed, has gone through a vwery lean time in the last year or two. It just seems more like decade really. On the odd occassion during a few games we kind of struggled to even get the ball into our inside 50 in the past. Our inside 50 is now on the up, but for whatever reason you have decided to point out our shots on goals is the worst in the league. Can we pause for a moment, and pray for one miracle at a time. I can concede our ball skills are way below standard. Our inside 50 wratio to scoring I believe to be wight up their with the top teams. So be thankful we are now getting our hands on the footy and one could say we are more competitive than in recent times. Us MFC supporters don't have a lot to hang our hats on, so could we stop with all the negative vibes.Perhaps if you want to be more helpful to our cause, you might want to devote a bit more research on why and where we are missing shots on goal. Taking too many pot shots from the boundary?, perhaps too far out?, even trying kicking them with a gale force cross wind?. Perhaps we put ourselves under pressure, and that split second required to steady beforehand might benefit us. In closing thank god we manage to kick a few out of our bums at times, or we weally weally would be in dire straits. From where we have been, I am just thankful our scoring on goal is on the up. Thanks vwery, vwery much for your time to point out we are crapola once more. -
What a great concept.Isnt good to see a reserves curtain-raiser being played at the MCG. What a great idea to allow 2 of the powerhouses of the AFL who's home ground is the "G", to being allowed to churn up the "G" when nobody any other time wouldn't even be allowed to walk on it. What if the heavens opened up between these 2 games? I do believe there might be a AFL game being played on Sunday. My guess is that who gives a shite about that. Perhaps if we ask Eddie, we might be able to play a reserves game one day there as well. I seem to recall something about us being the original tenants.Perhaps I am mistaken. Anyway carry on, Collingwood 2nds Vs Northern Blues, followed by the Filth and the bluebaggers. It must be eating awy at him being named the MELBOURNE Cricket Ground, I am sure he will want it renamed in the near future.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
DeeVoted replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting ,Prestia is contracted until the END of 2016. -
When I seen T.Papley named I immediately thought of Max Papley, who was a legend in the VFA days. And didnt go too badly playing for Sth.Melb.An educated guess methinks would be Max's grandson. Not a bad game first up with 3 goals to his name. Hopefully we get to see him play more games at Casey.

If we beat Collingwood today I will ....
DeeVoted replied to Bleeds_Red_&_Blue's topic in Melbourne Demons
When we beat the filth today, we make them take the ice slide. (and laugh) Hogan to kick 4 and we win by 8pts -
Compiling our crap scores is/was bad enough, getting motivated to do it for another team going nearly as bad, I don't think I have it in me. We should be aiming to improve to get in, or just outside the eight. If I were to do a comparision I think it would be a team above us, who are have been finishing just outside the eight for the last few years. I am not sure that will tell us anything we dont already know. And that is, we have been way off the mark. Perhaps I can do a quick scan of Richmond , Carlton or perhaps St.Kilda as a starting point over the last few years and see their results. GWS might be worth a look at. During the Mark Neeld years,no team would have been as bad as us.As Chris pointed out in his post, I starting tracking it from the Bailey years to Neelds 1st year, for my own benefit and monitor our performances,it got that bad for some reason I lost interest. Now Roo's 2nd year I decided pick up where I left off. This is not what you want to see from your own team. I would much prefer posting us kicking / winning record margins. If you study the data there are some patterns that have remained consistent. One is our 1st halves have been woeful. Then other stuff like what teams we fail badly in a game, the venues, etc
-
Getting back to the Watts getting dropped. I'll put money on Roos calling Watts in. And putting the acid back on him. "How do you think you are going atm? What you think for your own good, you might be better having a run with Casey? etc etc etc Go away and have a think about it, then come back and let me what you have decided. Roos is no fool, he might have decided to drop him, but let Watts make the call. If a required senior player walked into my office and said "OH btw I want to play with the two's this week." I'd be ringing around to shore up a trade next year. That would be after totally losing it. Since when do players decide where and when they play? Then again Roos may have dropped him, and said it was Watts' idea.

If I can add to this as it has it merits. Whether it's a competely new group in the coming years, or most of the group we have. One problem that compounds our woes, is that only a handful stick around and play more that 150 games. We need good players to stick around and stabilise the group. As soon as we get some that show some decent footy, they are gone from the club, Wonna, Jurra, to name a few, they left for unusal reasons. Then we start over. Howe,Watts, Grimes,Gawn have been around long enough to expect them all to go to another level. When players as these fail to stand up, its back on the merry go round again. But its more to it than just those named. We play dumb footy at times (most times). We fail to block, sheppard, make space to run to. Just little things to ease the pressure off the receiver. We need to apply that to the opposition. Mostly we give it off without backing up, or any assistance to help out a teammate. 1% ers are underrated.
