  1. Well done Chris. You summed it all up perfectly. I couldnt have said it better myself. This is the reason why I was tracking our scoring from the time it started to go down hill. Perhaps the 2nd half of this year the 'worm' will turn upwards. The fact still remains, we neeed to put an end to going through 1/2 a game of only scoring 1 goal. That's when we might be able to say we have turned the corner. Lowest scores during the year mean nothing, as long as we hold the other team to a low score. But we fail to do that most times. A goal scoring shootout might be exciting, but that also doesn't mean we are better. The worrying part it highlights is that we are still playing a 1/2 of footy at times when we struggle to kick more than a goal. Most of us know who needs to go,and what we need to improve the list,there are numerous threads about those. My data just highlights the ebb and flow over the last 8 yrs. Its not pretty, but it tells a tale. You picked up on it.
  2. Agree. Truely amazing effort to sign up 35,000 Members. We'll hit 50,000 if we get a team willing to put in for a full 100 mins of footy. But how can a football club expect to hang onto members when every 3rd week or so, they sit and watch their team kick one goal in a half of footy. And they say they give 100% during a game, well sorry, but I can't see that effort. If they decide to play out a whole game, the results will improve. Jackson must be shaking his head in disbelief at times. We were lucky to keep him onboard. Another clean out on the cards again, I was hoping that wouldnt be required but we still have too many not up to the task.
  3. Like I said I started this awhile back, stopped, then decided to compare our scores this season. Hoping to see some better performances this year. So far we haven't, its the same old same old. One good game. 1/2 good half of footy, then jack for the rest of the game. Every week its "oh, we'll learn from that game, and wont let it happen again. Well, its still happening.
  4. I started to compile our season scores from 2007 to the present day. Hoping to see some scoreboard improvement, or something to end the misery. At the end of the day, its all about scoring. I am over all the fluff and puff being feed to us long suffering supporters, Its all to no avail if we can't hit the scoreboard. Yet everyone at the club (players etc) promised a better effort in 2015. Well, the scoreboard doesn't lie. If you are feeling depressed do not read on. I got even more peeved off compling this. 2006 we played finals, and its no news we have gone backwards ever since, Season 2007 Failed to Kick more than 2 Goals in a half R12 Richmond 2.4 1st Half 2007 Lowest Score R3 H Geelong 2.1 4.4 5.9 8.9 57 5 scores +100 R7 A Western Bulldogs 6.1 7.6 10.9 16.10 106 R13 A Essendon 2.2 9.4 16.9 18.15 123 R14 A Carlton 4.1 9.4 14.6 19.10 124 R19 H Western Bulldogs 5.2 10.7 16.11 19.15 129 R22 H Carlton 7.3 12.6 16.11 21.13 139 ================================== Season 2008 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half R1 Hawthorn 1.5 1st Half R19 Geelong 1.3 1st Half Failed to Kick more than 2 Goals in a half R21 Port 2.4 2nd half 2008 Lowest Scores R19 H Geelong 0.0 1.3 2.6 5.11 41 R22 H Richmond 2.1 3.1 4.4 6.5 41 2 scores +100 Rnd 7 H Fremantle 1.3 3.8 8.15 17.17 119 Rnd 18 A Essendon 2.2 7.3 11.5 17.6 108 ================================== Season 2009 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half R5 Adelaide 0.3 1st Half R10 St.Kilda 0.4 2nd Half Failed to Kick more than 2 Goals in a half R13 Brisbane 2.2 1st Half R17 Sydney 2.6 1st Half 2009 Lowest Scores R5 H Adelaide 0.1 0.3 1.6 4.10 34 R10 A St Kilda 4.5 6.6 6.6 6.10 46 R17 H Sydney 1.2 2.6 4.11 6.14 50 4 scores +100 R4 A Richmond 2.6 10.7 13.11 14.16 100 R14 H West Coast 6.1 11.2 16.6 17.10 112 R15 H Port Adelaide 4.2 9.6 13.9 15.11 101 R20 H Fremantle 4.0 9.4 13.5 20.7 127 ================================== Season 2010 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half R1 Hawthorn 1.6 1st Half R3 Adelaide 1.8 1st Half R8 WC 1.5 2nd Half ================================== Season 2011 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half Rnd 19 Geelong 1.4 1st Half 9 scores +100 R4 A Gold Coast 6.2 11.9 15.14 23.21 159 R7 H Adelaide 2.7 6.11 14.16 22.17 149 R11 A Essendon 3.0 5.4 11.6 15.11 101 R13 H Fremantle 6.5 10.7 14.12 22.17 149 R14 A Richmond 7.1 12.4 14.14 17.16 118 R17 H Port Adelaide 6.2 9.6 16.8 17.11 113 R22 H Richmond 4.0 7.1 14.2 17.8 110 R23 H Gold Coast 4.3 7.5 13.7 17.10 112 R24 A Port Adelaide 3.6 7.11 10.12 15.14 104 ================================== Season 2012 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half R8 Sydney 1.5 1st Half R9 Carlton 1.6 2nd Half Failed to Kick more than 2 Goals in a half R5 St.Kilda 2.5 2nd Half R20 St.Kilda 2.7 1st Half 2012 Lowest Scores R8 A Sydney 0.3 1.5 2.7 5.7 37 R23 A Fremantle 1.3 2.5 4.8 5.10 40 2 scores +100 pts R13 H Greater Western Sydney 6.1 11.4 18.8 20.15 135 R19 H Gold Coast 6.6 10.7 13.8 16.12 108 ================================== Season 2013 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half Rnd 1 Port 1.4 1st Half Rnd 2 Ess 1.1 1st Half Rnd 11 Coll 1.7 1st Half Rnd 18 Nth 1.2 2nd Half Rnd 21 Freo 1.3 2nd Half Failed to Kick more than 2 Goals in a half R9 Freo 2.2 R16 Gee 2.4 1st Half + 2.2 2nd Half Game Total = 4.6.30 2013 Lowest Scores R2 A Essendon 2.1 4.5 5.5 5.6 36 R9 A Fremantle 1.1 2.2 5.3 6.4 40 R11 H Collingwood 1.5 1.7 3.9 5.9 39 R16 A Geelong 1.2 2.4 3.5 4.6 30 R18 H North Melbourne 1.0 3.2 4.4 4.4 28 R21 H Fremantle 0.2 4.5 5.7 5.8 38 2 scores +100 pts R4 H Greater Western Sydney 4.5 7.7 10.10 22.12 144 R14 H Western Bulldogs 3.5 8.8 12.12 15.13 103 ================================= Season 2014 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half Rnd 2 West Coast 1.3 1st Half Rnd 3 GWS 1.5 1st Half Rnd 12 Coll 1.6 1st Half Rnd 16 Fre 1.5 1st Half Rnd 21 GWS 1.7 1st Half Failed to Kick more than 2 Goals in a half Rnd 1 Stk 2.10 1st Half Rnd 12 Coll 2.4 1st Half Rnd 17 Gee 2.5 1st Half Rnd 21 GWS 2.9 1st Half 2014 Lowest scores R2 H West Coast 0.1 1.3 2.4 4.6 30 R6 H Sydney 1.2 2.3 4.4 5.8 38 R12 H Collingwood 1.3 2.4 3.6 3.10 28 R16 H Fremantle 0.2 1.5 3.7 4.10 34 R17 H Geelong 0.2 2.5 4.6 5.6 36 R21 H GWS 2.4 2.9 2.11 3.16 34 ** Failed to register a 100 pt game for the year ================================================== Season 2015 Failed to Kick more than one Goal in a half Rnd 2 GWS 1.5 2nd Half Rnd 5 Freo 1.10 2nd Half Rnd 6 Syd 1.3 1st Half Failed to Kick more than 2 Goals in a half Rnd 9 Port 2.4 1st Half 2015 Lowest scores Rnd 5 H Fremantle 2.2 5.4 6.8 6.14 50 Rnd 6 H Sydney 1.1 1.3 4.5 7.8 50 Rnd 7 A Hawthorn 2.0 3.3 4.6 7.8 50 2 scores +100 pts R1 H Gold Coast 2.5 7.7 12.9 17.13 115 R8 H Western Bulldogs 3.3 7.5 10.10 15.13 103 =================================================
  5. The link for the group league worked for me, on my 2nd attempt, but it wont display the full path to supercoach, so it does seem a bit dodgy. Log into the Supercoach website, then enter the group code which is 978745 if you want to join the group league.
  6. Have you forgotten Jetta ? (back pocket) and Kent would be on my half forward line. Newton as a IC. I wouldn't have vandenBerg in the ruck. Otherwise pretty much agree with your selected team. Not sure with some of the axings etc. wait and see how the year pans out I guess at this stage.
  7. How is everyone goin in their respective leagues? Some early carnage with injuries etc. Just a reminder, our group league is still open to join. Melbourne Demons is the name of the "Group League" 1. If you have ALREADY REGISTERED for the The Herald Sun Nissan SuperCoach Competition, simply click the following link (you may need to login): http://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au/group?cic=978745 (Once logged in, simply confirm your invitation and you'll be automatically added. Private Groups are a separate feature to the ten Private Groups are a separate feature to the ten head-to head leagues of 18, in which you may continue to participate as usual).
  8. Another one of our sporting greats no longer with us. Cricket will never be the same without Ritchie. RIP Mate. I love this classic from the great man - Captaincy is 90% luck and 10% skill. But don't try it without that 10%
  9. Good summary Dazzle. Not that I really needed to reminded about all the turmoil, along with a heap of bad luck. At the time we all were pinning our hopes on talented but skinny teenagers. Look at the list now, to name a couple, vandenBerg, Kent. No longer skinny little runts,but bigger bodied and hard at it. (speaking of skinny runts. the scumbag just got subbed early in the last against the Saints). PJ has earnt his money, money well spent. I hope he sticks around for a lot longer.
  10. NP, Just thought I'd lighten the thread up a bit. we Do remember Phat Phil ,right> the AFL's best recruiter.
  11. Garland and Howe played very well. Howe with limited prep, but the one that stood out for me ...... T.Mac. took his game to another level. I can't recall him ever been named BOG. It's not hard to forget he is still only 22yrs old. He lead the defence, along with the 2 mentioned. Too bad he missed that goal, that would have otherwise topped off perhaps his best game thus far.
  12. Who does the shut down role on $cully? If he is not minded he has the track record of wreaking havoc.He can't be left alone to roam the ground or he will just clean up. I am not sure we have a match-up for this bloke. He's quick, ruthless and goes in hard. When on his game, (and that is all the time), he can cut through a pack with ease. With the AFL food prices being reduced Phat Phil will be going all out. If left unattended, expect all food stalls to be cleaned out by midday. I suggest those going to the game to bring their own food, (padlocked when possible) Oh Toump out Vince In

  17. If you want to join up for next year, may I suggest you get in early Then there is no excuse on missing out, and it makes my job so much easlier. There are enough teams to monitor the D'Land coaches in the Cordner league. I will now include this league in the comp (Div 4). All those scores will be accessed at seasons end and promotions etc will be taken into account. Still room in this league if anyone wants to join (see previous post for the league code). Anyone and everyone are welcome to join this league, but time is running out and it will be auto-filled soon.
  18. From Supercoach Talk March 18: ROOKIES Angus Brayshaw (MID, $212,300) Weighing in at 91kg at age 19, Brayshaw seemed likely to feature early in 2015 but to date he has played no preseason games for Melbourne. An elite contested ball winner in juniors, Supercoach seems likely to be his game so expect decent scores when he debuts. Verdict: Too expensive given his poor job security for now. Jesse Hogan (FWD, $130,400). From the limited time I?ve spent watching Melbourne?s preseason (I?m sorry but I couldn?t face two whole games), Hogan seems happy to work up the ground a bit and will earn a few touches even if he doesn?t kick goals. As an 18 year old playing 15 VFL games in 2013, Hogan averaged 15 disposals a game to go with 6 marks and 2 goals so this is likely his natural playing style. Verdict: Good job security, worth a spot even though his scores will fluctuate. Ben Newton (MID, Av. 40, 4 games, $215,000). We all know the story; Newton was too good for the SANFL but couldn?t crack into Port?s elite midfield. He should be a walk-up starter for Melbourne?s midfield and has looked good in the preseason so far. Verdict: If he features in the final NAB match, you must have him. Christian Salem (FWD, Av. 35, 12 games, $185,000). After 7 vests in 12 games, Salem is super cheap and as we have all seen, he is now playing that quarterback role that general equals decent supercoach scores. His Jekyll and Hyde preseason is a little concerning (scores of 40 and 132) but his job security is good. Verdict: Unless you can find a better rookie, he?s a must-have in my books. Aaron Vandenberg (MID, $127,900). Another NEAFL stud who looked good in limited preseason game time in NAB 1 but a head clash prevented us from getting another look at him in NAB 2. If he plays NAB 3 well, he seems likely to get elevated. Verdict: My crystal ball says he?ll be elevated so if named in Round 1, jump on.
  19. Melbourne Fantasy preview The night is darkest before the dawn, and The Traders can see the light at Demonland. Heritier Lumumba looks a Fantasy force again after a switch to Melbourne. 1. Heritier Lumumba (DEF/MID) $402,000 In 2013, Lumumba was one of the premium defenders in the competition, averaging 88. He started his 2014 campaign in fine style for the Pies, averaging 91 in his first five games, but from there it was all downhill. He finished the year averaging 71, making him a great under-priced option this year. Now in the red and blue, Lumumba should return to his best and the NAB Challenge signs were good. 2. Ben Newton (MID) $192,000 Newton played four games with Port Adelaide last year, but wore the sub's vest on three occasions. He averaged 98 in the SANFL and is looking for more opportunities this season, something Paul Roos is ready to give him. 3. Jesse Hogan (FWD) $194,000 After not playing a game last year because of persistent back issues, Hogan is $70,000 cheaper than his 2014 price and is ready to make an impact. Yet to make a senior debut, the Demons' forward hopes sit heavily on the shoulders of this young giant. 4. Christian Salem (FWD) $193,000 A new role playing off half-back this pre-season has put the former first round draft pick on the Fantasy radar. His last two NAB Challenge scores of 118 and 91 have seen his stocks rise and a popular cheap forward selection. Look out for him to gain defender status prior to round six. 5. Aaron vandenBerg (MID) $120,000 Set for a round one debut, vandenBerg is one to watch. He averaged 32 touches and 127 points in the NEAFL last year. A cheap option and his NAB Challenge form was outstanding.
