Just off phone with dad who is there. Said Hoges is going quite well and has been quite impressed with "number 1 with the Italian name" -

Agreed. but is this more Viney being allowed to do what he wants as opposed to Roos direction? Remembering Vineys involvement in Hawthorns list rebuild... -

good get! probably means we will go tall with pick 3 now. -
Height is one thing... but I’d more interested in their shoulder spans... seems the players being referred to are broad hence more better able to protect the drop zone / marks. Cook, narrow shoulders, fitzy, narrow, daws, broad, niets, broad, fev, broad... McCartin and Hoags both seem on the broader side. Breadth also = mass and strength through the contest? Thoughts? Is this a better attribute than height?

is it me or does he look like the Toump? -
and thats why i'm warming to taking N Cockatoo purely because he appears bigger bodied with possibly less polish. How different is his circumstance to Lever's any way?

everyone else is speculating. I'm just basing possibility of the other errrrr "stuff"? floating around. fwiw it's not the speculating that is annoying me in reading all this, just the knee "jerks". -

swans cant trade in players but pick's are a different story. 3 for Mitchel.... then they can get another tall (2m peter?) to replace Goodes after next year.... just saying. -

haven't been able to find any discussion (possibly because I'm a touch lazy, and the Boyd news railroaded my last attempt) but is 3 and 12 enough for pick 1? -

Intraclub Practice Match - Thursday 20th February, 2014
DemonTux replied to furious d's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not much to add but FWIW saw Mich Clark cruising around the Tan when i turned up at a reasonable jog, certainly faster than I'd expect him to be moving if there were still problems with his foot/leg. Certainly not sprinting but cautious build up in condition i'd say. While I think of it and i don't know if it's been asked, but if Riley is on the LTIL, surely it's expected Mitch will be available before him? -

re small forwards and rotating mids through the forward line, to compliment the talls, I know I haven’t been to lots of training sessions but it was nice to see EVERYONE during training rotations a week before Christmas practising snapping goals. So a finding a rioli type shouldn’t be necessary if all players are capable of getting their hands on a lose ball in the forward line and confident enough (through practice) to just have a crack. So in saying i am happy with the talls forward especially since we know most of them have a tank to be able to hurt elsewhere. With forward/defensive pressure the way it i now-days, opportunist goals are gold. If the big options cant grab it (yay depth), then it's everyone responsibility to gain possession and personally i prefer them having a crack than farting around looking for a turn over (i mean option) in the forward 50. Is there an attempt to score from lose ball stat? Would be interesting to know it's effectiveness compared to completed passes/marks under pressure in forward 50... even a point is better than looking like your trying to be clever... law of averages says some may even be goals.

DemonTux replied to Demanding Success's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was there too. Everything said above seems spot on. Re Trenners - he was complaining about something in his right foot/ankle area before he left. Looked happy still so don't think it was bad (but hey, i'm no doctor), just another indication of them not pushing even the slightest niggle (I hope). JKH is getting a lot of praise around here and I was pleasantly surprised watching him today, very quick, great kick, felt my self thinking about the Wiz and Flash while watching ... similar traits, let's just hope he has some magic (selfish confidence?) too. What else? Salem walked laps, hoped to see some of Hunt's speed but every time I looked, he seemed pooped. Jamar did some running with the rehab group then left. Tyson's kicking action ... hard to work out why it looks funny, its like he only straightens his leg at the last second so it makes it look like he is kicking late/only using half his leg. Watching Dunn and Hogan go at it in a shepherding drill at close quarters was great, if looks could kill ...
