  1. after reading all this, I am surprised there hasn’t been much of mentioned about pushing caddy into the PSD. This (to me) would be especially satisfying if GC made us pick JV early.
  2. .... Jai Sheehan and Leigh Williams are easily more of a presence at Casey, the former I think has been great the last 3 weeks (yes i have been there) the latter was also very good in his last appearance especially considering the issues he has had this year. Yes waste of pic but Jai at least on exposed form and talent in terms of list management looks to be and upgrade. Had to feel for Lucas though, on the weekend he just got monster ed, got to the fall of ball OK but always had the defender who was 2x his size on him knocking him out of the way.
  3. im happy for them to sweep this all under the carpet as soon as they swap this years #1 pick with our 2 compo's.
  4. old that seems to be reasonable and balanced. The oly other thing I can think of is that over time requirements for various inderviduals will reduce (yes some may increase) allowing for further ventures requiring space in the "welfare cap"
  5. 2 x Ethihad games, maybe we will be able to partly break that hoodoo in the pre season like we did last year with the wins at AAMI?
  6. Staff assistance (welfare?) programs are nothing new and it would be an act of descrimination if these business fuctions were not available to all players. The fact that indervidual needs differ and as such inderviduals will have differing involvements with them does not mean it comes at an expence of everyone else. I would have thought the idea would be through supporting staff (players) they are better engaged and as such perform to their full potential within their given workplace (playing field). The benifit possibly being difficult to quantify may in this instance be that a team wins more games through improved performance, there is a wining culture developed and as such results in a benifit to every other player on the list.
  7. re managing him and already doing that for a number of other players, it is obvious we already have a framework in place to support these guys and as such increased overhead should be minimal due to them being an addition within that framework. Who knows, there may be capacity within the framework (i.e. staff member who is not as abusy as they could be) to cater for people of this cultrual background. As such, believing the club know what they are doing I will support their decission. Speculation on the clubs capabilites amounts to writing a fiction novel. I proffer dicussion (and ok it' probably fiction but atleast far more interesting) to focus more on how we may benifit from player x.
  8. Ask Essendon *tongue in cheek* it's not like for like... i'd think 1 principle ruck and 2x versatile types vs 3 primary rucks.
  9. No, I was just looking for some method / point of reference in the possibly over paid madness
  10. I have said it before but maybe i should elaborate, is it only me getting the feeling of what Geelong did when they went after Brad Ottens? Look where that got them...
  11. Why did the name brad ottens just spring to mind? Further, wish I knew how much a certain senior coach has to do with this...

    Neil Craig

From: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/st-kilda-legend-eyes-coach-spot-20110919-1ki0m.html Melbourne appears in the box seat to win Craig's services, but the Adelaide coaching veteran has not yet reached a final decision although he has indicated to his former club that his preference is to move to Melbourne - the city. The Demons' offer is a senior director of coaching role that would see Craig act as a mentor to Mark Neeld and his team as well as play a role in the physical conditioning department.
  13. Our first round pick (the one straight after our normal first round pick) that we got for scully would be worth more to GWS than pick #4 if they didnt believe next year would be anything other than development and would feesably finish anywhere from first last to 4th last. it could, effectivly be pick 2, 3 or 4 dependant on where they finish so this GC trumping us with pick 4 is probably in reality a bit stupid. also, in reality, that same pick may not be as valuable to us as the mid first round pick if we finish in the 8 where the mid first round may be lower than our actual pick and the subsequent one. The first round one would only be of more value if we finished bellow 9th (I would hope we improve again next year)
  14. let me qualify my previous post, I do believe we have had one one of those "once in a generation" players stolen from under our noses but, hey, it's a team game, i want a once in a generation team!
  15. I have been biting my tongue, but considering I was being told this was going to happen well before the rumors started (source, ok so it was 3 steps removed... make of it what you will) late last year, all I can say is "thank god" now we can get over the issue and move on. p.s: "degenerative knee" hmmmmmmmmm
  16. I'm still not over the 1st 50m penalty they got... payed for going over the mark after the player had already played on? Wasnt even a free. Yes the ump was blind sided but a free goal at the bounce for something like that hurt.
  17. He is much more deserving of $1 mill a year than others who wont be named.
  18. Why drop anyone? Leave them all in saying it was all their fault and now they have a chance to redeem themselves? In all seriousness though, Davey, Scully, MacDonald would all be a chance.
  19. Ahhhh Eddie, Is it me or has he gone: "Collingwood players may go to GWS" - Eddie focuses on Melb/other teams not beign able to keep hold of players and feeding the fire for them to go and divert attention from his own "Melb might win with Scully compo" - Maybe Collingwood is missing out and it's in their best interests to let somone go "Melb is trying to keep scully so the benifit may still go to collingwood" - Backflip, maybe Melb should keep scully after all after all the are the oldest club in the league, we should help them! Maybe he should be more worried about issues in his own nest
  20. cant we offer Dunn / Bate the same deal that we offered Meason and Newton? i.e. delist and then pick up as rookies to cover off the last year of their contracts? effectivly 2 of the 3 delistings and then upgrade Nicho and Pickles in their spots?
  21. soooooooooo this cant be used to get our hands on Jonathan Patton?? ie: possibly as part of a skully going?
  22. I took a grad role in canberra 2 years ago away from friends family and the G/F at the time... in terms of career progression in my chosen field it was a great move but cant wait to get back to Melb. The difference between a graduate position and an AFL contract though is you are not locked into a contractual term and that it's easier to drink away the pain.
