  1. Remember that Gerard Healy was on the selection panel in 2009 and assuming he is again in 2010 he will be pushing the case of anyone who has laced up their boots for Sydney and talking down every MFC player that gets mentioned. He will back Malceski all the way & don't be surprised if Goodes sneaks in given the purple patch of form he is currently in.
  2. I hope we do get this match up because I think Frawley should get the most dangerous forward each week... no matter what their size or position. But I get the feeling DB doesn't like playing him on the last line against full forwards (like Barry Hall), and he could end up playing on one of the Tigers half forwards providing plenty of rebound.
  3. I have stuck with Col in my supercoach team all year and he is starting to produce big time at the business end of the season. Oh yeah... he is also pretty handy for MFC.
  4. He was unbelievably good that year. Over the past month I have seen replays of his game against Geelong at Kardinia Park and against Swans at SCG... FMD he could take a great over-head mark and just knew where the goals were.
  5. Agree. I am concerned about Rivers strength and pace off the mark against Fev. Hopefully Frawley can prove that round 5 was no fluke and beat Brown at close to full fitness. Joel Mac might be the key to defence this week ... putting his body on the line defending the space in front of the big forwards.
  6. Of that 2000 side I believe the following players would play in our best current 22(based on what they have achieved not on potential): INs. Ingerson for Warnock/Rivers Walsh for Bartram Febey for Rivers/Joel Macdonald Yze for Morton Woewodin for Moloney/Jones Green still in best 22 Schwarz for Watts/Dunn Neitz for Petterd/Dunn Farmer for Bennell White for PJ Leoncelli for Moloney/Jones Johnstone for Bail???
  7. Not worth chasing and lets me down in supercoach every year
  8. The question is not clear enough. Right now I would take Ablett coz Judd is past his best... but if they were both at their absolute career best I would probably take Judd.
  9. Yep deserved a 6th but they switched off in that last quarter... you just know its your day when you hit the post and still get the benefit of the doubt
  10. Best win I can remember since 2002(i think???) up in Brisbane when we came from way behind and Neitz kicked a big bag. Best 1st quarter I can remember us playing. Forward line looked so fast and very mobile. My only disappointment came when Green didn't get to kick a PB 6th goal after getting his 5th so early on. Heaps of highlights today but the 2 that stood out for me were Wonna kicking his goal from near the behind post & Frawley's chase on Jetta forcing him to pull up and turn it over.
  11. I asked him once whether that Swans game was his favourite and he said it was 2nd... his favourite was the following week beating the blue baggers in the finals.
  12. His manager is probably using the same tactics as Jamar's ... knowing that the more games Watts plays this year & the better form he displays the more leverage he will have in contract negotiations with the MFC. When is the best time to sign a contract ... at the start of the year with 3 games and suspect form under your belt or after you have played 20 games kicked 20 odd goals and have the supporters excited?
  13. I am convinced Watts will be a great forward for many, many years based on what he has shown already. He has great hands and is a one touch player below his knees which is very unusual for his size. Slick by hand with smart little gives under pressure. Great field kicking because he doesn't try to drill the pass, he just places it out in front or into space for his team mate. Nice agility and shows plenty of smarts which he has shown at times stealing or intercepting the ball. Great set shot for goal which is why people expected him to kick that last goal against Freo. He has flaws obviously but nothing that can't be improved... needs to take more overhead marks/stronger in the air... improve defensive efforts/2nd efforts/tackling... improve kicking goals on the run tends to spray them a bit. All of these things will improve with better strength and fitness and more experience. Nik Nat burst on to the scene earlier than Watts and has a good highlights reel. But I think he would have hurt Jamar's development over the last 1.5 seasons , plus another midfield rotation player who has been playing all this time instead of a 2nd ruckman.
  14. If he has been sacked it is such an undignified way to go out... not even final game or farewell
  15. I'm surprised that ponce Tim Lane didn't rate a mention... jesus mate just call the game and stop trying to prove how smart you think you are.
  16. Don't shoot the messenger people... deep down everyone on here wanted to know what it looked like... and if its on big footy then it was just a matter of time before it ended up in the public domain. BTW the emblem looks very classy!
  17. Correct... and then 5 minutes later they pay holding the ball against Sylvia taking 2.5 steps in the back pocket... consistency please umpire? You have to be a 2 or 3 goals better team to get the win in WA or SA fighting the crowd and in turn the umpires.
  18. I would have thought Jones, Bate and possibly Morton would be closer to the chop
  19. Actually I did notice the diving alot more today... in particular Palmer did it a few times in the packs and got a free kick. Davey had every reason to go off his brain when tackling that little carnt Ballantine... at no stage did Davey fall into his back because his hands and knees were on the ground supporting his own body.
  20. Shocking 1st half ... just serviceable in the 2nd half. He needs to take the 1st option and not try to over-think it
  21. Agree totally Hannabal but you left out the biggest offender... Nathan Jones. FMD this bloke has the football IQ of Forrest Gump. I know its been a dirty day for everyone but he just finds new ways to give away free kicks & ruin opportunities. I know he gives his best effort most weeks but he has been in the system for long enough to understand/play within his limitations(like Bartram) and learn from his mistakes.
  22. None of us outside of the club can say for sure how anybody deals with leadership... all we can judge is how they perform on matchday with the captaincy. I can remember a few years back when Green was stand in captain for the day and he played a blinder, well above his form of previous weeks. That to me says he can deal with the pressure and extra responsibility and actually lift his game to another level to lead by example.
  23. I think Freo are less vulnerable this week than they have been for a long time... yeah they lost Barlow but look at the ins with Tarrant, Broughton & McPharlin. That is a massive boost to their backline and/or spine. A Dees win would be the upset of the round
  24. His best game had to be the Hawks last year when he got 3 brownlow votes in a losing side. That night he put it all together and showed what he is capable of with hard running, slick disposal and kicking goals. His game on the weekend was probably 90% of that best and should be produced more often than we currently see.
  25. From listening to Bruce being interviewed this season he definitely thinks he has 2 or 3 seasons left in him. He might see the writing on the wall like Brock did and jump before he gets pushed. He would know the amount of talent coming through and the direction the club is taking & would anticipate less game time and less $$$ in his next contract. It would be a wise move by him to request a trade now while his dollars are still up. Who knows maybe the coaching staff are giving him so much game time and playing him loose in defense is to squeeze a better pick out of GC? Not saying I want this to happen or believe it will at this stage but saying that footy is a business and this trade would work out for all parties.
