  1. I think the poll's largely representative of the fans RR, and who* can be too harsh on Melbourne's fans for getting excited about Jurrah? Btw, I voted no, but I'm ready and waiting to change this in the not too distant future. *apart from RR
  2. Indeed. I disagree. I think it's the right move - if his relationship with the Club was poor there's no point staying, particularly when you're going to wallow in the VFL while being forced to play ruck/defence when you don't think you'll make the grade in those positions. Instead, I think it's far better to leave now and search for greener pastures, even if it's a VFL side that will let you play in a position you think can succeed in at AFL level.
  3. Merging posts/threads often creates problems like that, and I for one can find it pretty disconcerting. An edit from the mod would at least clarify things. Taking the bait and posting up your life story is probably worse than RR's original snide comment. Stabbing him for posting on the forum is just petty. What does OCD have to do with posting on a forum lots? There's room for all three in the side. As you're a keen Demon fan with life membership who has been to every game since 1903 and only goes to the toilet during the breaks you would have seen that Garland can play tall and small - he's beaten talls like Franklin and smalls like Farmer in the same season. Warnock would be first picked because he's the number one man for the big jobs, and is stronger than Garland (if not Frawley too). Rivers is vulnerable beacuse he doesn't hurt teams the other way and is exploitable - he can't play on key players and he can't play on the smaller quick types either. It'll be interesting to see what he's like with a pre-season under his belt. I don't think Cheney has the class to play as an attacking defender and if he isn't quicker than what he showed this year I don't see that he's a [long-term] solution for the quick smalls that most teams have. However, someone posted that he's had an ankle injury that impacted on his pace, so perhaps he can play that role in future. I doubt Blease will play in the backline too often. I imagine Strauss might be the 'go-to' man back there though.
  4. No hold but they can agree to a new contract without needing to draft him.
  5. Sounds like it's best to send equipment, like the Eagles apparently did for a German side.
  6. Haha :D RR's right on this one though - some of the talk's premature. However, when we're on the bottom and lack exciting players why not get excited about Jurrah? Indeed - players like Jurrah make people come to the footy.
  7. Perhaps we'd already bailed / don't have anything to do with the corp hospitality etc? Anyhow, no surprise it died - there didn't seem to be much effort put in.
  8. Since the end of the season a bunch of teams have said they want more games at the 'G. Within a few years I'd be unhappy but not surprised if we got shunted out to TD for a few home games each season, a la Optus Oval etc.
  9. Have other clubs closed their social clubs recently?
  10. What was wrong with him? If it was impacting on his pace then he might have a role.
  11. I think it's too early to rank them with any precision, but I'm pretty happy with Morton and Grimes. It shows stats are useless without context Fwiw, I think it was 8.
  12. It was nice to see him get to the milestone, and probably the right time to call it a day.
  13. I think Carlton feel they need to make hay while the sun shines and I don't think they have much to lose. In the next few years it's going to be tough to draft talent but they've picked up McLean, and Judd's still able to play decent footy. What point is there in them twiddling their thumbs and hoping they unearth some players that can fill holes? May as well have a crack now, particularly since Bradshaw will be easy to obtain.
  14. Given where we're at in terms of the 'clock' etc, I don't think there is much point on keeping players who are marked 'depth'. At the moment, if we have guys on our list who aren't going to be best 18 when we're a decent side then we should look at replacing them with a kid who has more upside. Unfortunately I think that leaves Valenti out in the cold.
  15. I don't think it was the forwards group. LJ, Miller, Wona and Bate? Sure. Meesen, Jamar, Cheney and Bartram? No.
  16. ND got a fairly big cheer in Davey's speech ;o
  17. So it's for the players? Are they following your posts? If they're reliant on external motivation from ignorant people writing misinformed articles in some Herald Sun 'article' we may as well head to Western Sydney.
  18. To what end? I could find some misinformed rubbish every day and post it up on here. I don't see that it would spark anything particular interesting 99% of the time (just like this post). PS. I find the motivation comment bizarre.
  19. I like him based more on potential than anything he showed - I think he has some class, which you can't teach. Could probably still go either way but I'm hopeful.
  20. Unless you're talking about when he had a broken leg etc, PJ was a much better footballer than Spencer is at the same age.
  21. WYL, I have no idea why you'd even bother posting up that misinformed snippet. In fact, I'm not sure why you read the Herald Sun
  22. If it happens it won't be due to mandatory delistings - with Whelan, Wheatley and Robertson we'd already cut the required three. ...and the award for best first post goes to Cheesecake While his ranking was good, his average per match is lower than I thought it should be. The life of a defender...
  23. I think it's a valid point, and apparently Green isn't the most outspoken guy around (but I doubt McDonald is either). From memory, DB said that with an influx of players new to the Club and the fact that Green, as an older guy, had a delayed start were factors in Green missing out. However, Green was voted into the leadership group (mid-season?) so the players may see something you don't.
