All things being equal, most people want a shorter commute. If an AFL player wants a shorter commute it's a disgrace. Double standard?

He's not a tall. He doesn't have the great skills you want in a rebounding defender. He doesn't have the pace you want in someone who is going to shut down a dangerous and pacey small forward. Where's that leave him?

I think 'early' and 'late' is easiest if you're speaking in relative terms. Otherwise 'the 'round' number is handy shorthand, but there's a massive disparity between 1 and 16, 17 and 32, etc.

I'd rather Jamar over Seaby. I think a pick somewhere in the middle of those would be fair. Port need a ruck but if we lose Jamar we're in the same boat - at least short-term.

There was a fair bit of discussion regarding the merits of pick 9 for Jamar in a recent thread. I think a pick in the first round is fair. However, if we trade out Jamar then we should look at a mature replacement or we're in a world of hurt next year. How do people rate Jolly v Jamar? I think Jolly shades Jamar at the moment but Jamar's younger. EDIT: Shades is probably the wrong word. Fwiw, if we traded Jamar he'd be a year older than Jolly was when we traded him for pick 15. As Roos has said, Jolly's improved a heap since then and this draft has a shallow pool of players due to the changed age eligibility.

I agree - good draft picks are a means to an end, not the end themselves. The 'end' is winning a flag and established players are more likely to to help the Hawks win their next flag sooner than draftees. We're in the opposite situation.

Given that he returned from a serious injury I think he played quite well at times. However, I'm not sure he had the same leap and following failed marking attempts he spent a little too much time on the ground. It would have been interesting to see how he pulled up with a pre-season behind him.
