WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM GILLIES

We got him as a delisted free agent -
I prefer Stringer, even with the limp. If our medical team don't think it will be a major concern, we'd be silly not to pick him. After Hell's Gates posts, I believe we will pick Wines but from all reports and highlights, Stringer is an absolute gem.

Which delisted player would you pick up before ND/PSD

Hawthorn say they are committed to helping [Osborne] through his rehab from an ACL injury he sustained in Round 7 against Melbourne this year. He will continue to train with the main group in the aim of the club re-drafting him in the pre-season draft. -

Got a text asking me to come down to watch on Thursday. Good initiative by the MFC -
I'm pretty sure that Stringer has trained with the Dogs and they were very impressed, so it is likely that he will go with pick 5 or 6.

I would only trade Gysberts for Pederson if they threw one of their zippy forwards in as well.

Just because he has had knee recos doesn't mean he isn't quality. -

I would rather get Broughton than pay overs for Ray. -
Magner and Nicholson are must keeps. Nicholson is guaranteed an upgrade in my opinion. Someone in another thread said that he and Evans have 'iron-clad' agreements to be upgraded this year. Evans had a better debut than Gysberts and has pace and goal sense, giving him a point of difference in our team. We sorely lack his strengths. I would be inclined to keep him even if he has no such agreement as mentioned above. Hopefully he can get over his injuries. Williams looks pretty good, especially considering his meningitis and coma. Has size but will obviously struggle to push for selection in his second year, considering we have Clark and Dawes, plus most likely Pederson. I would keep him. Couch is on thin ice, I think. He is incredibly slow and was less than impressive in the games he played. Looked fantastic in VFL games but I think he will be another Valenti and would not be surprised if we delisted him. Lawrence is gone and it seems Sheahan as well. I would like for us to invest in an overseas rookie after seeing what Pearce Hanley and Mike Pyke amongst others have done this year.

Latest murmurings of a crazy time

I disagreed with you on the basis that you completely overlooked McDonald in the first place. He is 20 years old, finished 3rd in our BNF and 6th in the rising star. He isn't overrated at all. You are the Judas Iscariot of Demon Disciples if you actually believe that. -

Tom McDonald is twice the player Pederson is and is a few years younger, so I disagree with you. Sheahan looks good but will need to put on some serious size. -

Best case: 50-60 goal forward who stretches opposition backlines when combined with Clark Worst-case: Great step ledder for Howe Well done Neeldy. -

2012 Player Review - # 26 Dan Nicholson (R)
Brayshaw Self replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I really like Nicho. Pace to burn, can run all day and while his kicking may miss targets a bit, it's penetrating and he has a really good technique. I think his turnovers are down to pressure. I mean, look at this: How many of our players can do that? Sylvia, Blease.......hopefully Taggert soon. -
He was the most nervous player I've ever seen but it was his first ever game so it can be excused. He looks to have the goods. Hard, tough and will have some more bulk soon. He was unlucky to have such a bad concussion, otherwise he would have played a few more games in my opinion.

He is quality and we need quality

Clark progressed from walking to skipping for the first time since surgery in the last couple of days, I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play in the NAB Cup or possibly the first few rounds. -
Definitely. Is dangerous as a small forward as well. Great fit for us and will be cheap as a Delisted Free Agent

Usually has one game a year where he has 30 touches and 10 tackles but is usually pretty quiet. Decent tagger but I'd still have McKenzie in the team over Thomas. Doesn't offer much. -
O'Rourke/Wines at 4 and Towers at 20 would be great

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOMINIC BARRY
Brayshaw Self replied to fuchsia's topic in Melbourne Demons
From reading phantom drafts and juniors write-ups during the year I was particularly interested by the things that were said about Barry and I was hoping we might take him late in the draft. After his showing at the combine I am quite content that we have picked him up. Looks to lack a bit of penetration on his kicking, but from his highlights, seems to be an accurate Gaff-type kick and he will be able to punch them lower as he gains strength. Good pick up, Dees. -

Now let's pay Moloney's wage to Brereton and Carey to be our forward coaches. Take full advantage of Clark and Hogan -
