Just realised I've agreed to work on the day. WAH. No broadcast booth for me. Here endeth the sizzle
-
Wild. I hope the Pies line up with the same forward line. Deserves to be kept for posterity. Now to find a way to break into the old broadcast tower at Vic Park! (i.e - Just opening the door and kicking out the dero who lives there)
-
That Dunn mo is rancid. He must have lost a bet.
-
If anybody has got a camera we can use for this can you please let me know? Suffice to say that while our players will be called by their chosen names, opposition players will be assigned names of random players from their respective teams.
-
Anybody got the teams for the 87/89 Night Grand Finals? Also looking for * A heap of photos of players from the 80's and early 90's so if anybody has a stash lying around I'd be keen on discussing further. * Full Best and Fairest vote counts and placings from pre-2000 * Club award winners from previous years * A lot of Best First Year Players from 1994 and before (What I've got can be found at http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index.php?page=best+first+year+player) And heaps of other stuff.. Whatever you've got I'm in.

I'll never take a "training the house down" rumour seriously again after the John Meesen debacle.
-
Great idea. I've got a few things that I'd love to see go to a good home.
-
Just to repeat the earlier post I'd love to call the game if somebody could organise the camera and somewhere to work it from. Other than that I'll put myself down as an assistant coach/waterboy and fill in if the numbers are too low on the day.
-
We're an underrated minority.
-
Not saying they're not connected, but I've got the two trades listed separately. Stephen Powell from Footscray for selection 35 (Patrick Wiggins) Matthew Bishop to Port Adelaide for selection 42 (Michael Clark) Somebody would have to look at the original draft order.

Golf has a World Cup. Nobody cares. This is the same. Who gives a rats about which country is better than which in an individual sport? The Davis Cup only survives because of tradition. Next thing somebody will suggest team knockout swimming.
-
Strictly for the kids I reckon, but no doubt some nutbags will be sending hundreds of photos of themselves in to try and prove how hardcore they are.
-
That makes no sense. Of course you don't remember him for 37 because he changed it. Numbers freaks everywhere care
-
My lucky number is 88. Can I wear that? Agreed with the post before, pick a number and make it your own instead of pissing about with it. There should be a statue to Shaun Rehn for staying #52. Jurrah had the chance to put #48 on the map, now he's just another 24.

Cheers for that Jack, unfortunately I think other mentions of Douthie must be lost in the black hole of Google News Archive.

MFC training today at the Junction Oval
Supermercado replied to Steamin Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Does this mean we've got some sort of KGB style dossier on suspected opposition scouts? I like it. -
If he stays fit I'm backing Matty Bate to go bananas next year. Should The Stefan Martin Experience not play as much next year I appoint Bate and Rivers my equal favourite players in his absence.
-
This article suggests he was given the boot in a hurry after falling out with Barass. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=DIYQA...elbourne+demons Of course then he kicked 8 on debut the same day we got 5 in total at Kardinia Park And I believe he later booted 0.8 in a game against us.

There's no way this list is complete, but it's a work in progress. http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index....ge=The+Ex+Files Lou Riley Collingwood 1935-1936 Peter Keenan North Melbourne 1977 Stan Alves North Melbourne 1977 Greg Wells Carlton 1981 Michael Byrne Hawthorn 1983 Tony Elshaug Essendon 1985 Earl Spalding Carlton 1995 Clay Sampson Adelaide 1997 Martin Pike North Melbourne/Brisbane Lions 1999, 2001-2003 Matthew Bishop Port Adelaide 2004 Darren Jolly Sydney 2006 Steven Armstrong West Coast 2007

Undoubtedly Allen Jakovich. I basically lost interest in football for two years after he went.

Just to keep my b/s historical questions in the same thread does anyone know what the deal was with this guy? http://news.google.com.au/newspapers?id=2v...-club&hl=en 8 goals in an intra-club and touted as the next big thing but never played seniors. Just another case of intra-club form meaning nothing, or something more sinister? As an added incentive, I offer you the most dubious advertisement ever. October 1985, A spit roast from Big Bob, SS cutlery and waitresses in jumpsuits. What else could you want?

Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map
Supermercado replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd like to think that they'd install extra track between Caulfield and Dandenong to allow more expresses to go to Dandy. Should fire things up a bit. -
Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map
Supermercado replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
They'll have to buff up frequency and travel time on the Cranny line to make any sort of extension worthwhile. It's a joke at the moment - there's no point in adding more track if it's still going to take 500 years to get there from the city. -
1. Geelong 2. Adelaide 3. St. Kilda 4. Footscray 5. Hawthorn 6. Brisbane 7. Collingwood 8. Sydney 9. Essendon 10. Carlton 11. West Coast 12. The People's Republic of Melbourne 13. Port Adelaide 14. Fremantle 15. Richmond 16. North Having said that I don't think there will be a standout last. We could win six games and still end up in the bottom of that bracket.

Cheers guys, Thanks to everyone who has sent some answers in. I've finally gotten hold of a copy of the book again so I'm chopping through a few quite quickly. Cam Schwab was nice enough to answer the two 80's ones (Hutchinson = Dingley, Barham = Gisborne) http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index....e+Are+They+From
