I admire his noble aims, and expect that he's probably been stitched up in the article based on one off-handed comment, but the assumption by some people that we're entitled to better just because we've got Melbourne in our name is ridiculous. As for any potential store on Collins Street I hope we don't end up paying $150k a year in rent for a store that's empty 7.5 hours a day just so people can feel warmth in their heart when they go past on the tram.

Facebook and MCG check-ins, what's the real goal?
Supermercado replied to ignition.'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Presumably the end goal is that all your friends see you've been to the MCG and it promotes the stadium. What that actually achieves I'm not sure but it will tick off somebody's KPIs so good luck to them. -
Now he wants to lecture us all about how we should change the rules. Probably wants to bring back the king hit.

Worst 1st rnd draft pick in history...clue: not Melbourne
Supermercado replied to pitchfork's topic in Melbourne Demons
What about all the South Australians that Brisbane picked in the late 80's despite the fact that they had absolutely no interest in joining? -
GWS and Gold Coast are un-Australian for not providing any troops.

I reckon we can do enough to hide behind at least one the Bulldogs, North and St Kilda when the AFL send the grim reaper around. Then we should (SHOULD) be safe unless we end up getting bled dry until we end up being forced to merge with the other. However given that they've just tipped millions in it doesn't not appear to be on their agenda to totally wipe us out - to prop us up until they fulfil some conspiracy? Well I'm not ruling that out.

If they've got ripper names like Freddie Clutterbuck then yes please

Given that it's slightly stretching history to claim we were formed in 1858 - (e.g the players who would later form the Melbourne Football Club played together as 'Melbourne' a couple of times the MFC itself didn't exist until 1859) maybe we should chuck '58 and put '59 on things instead? Or just drop the 1800's altogether... For what it's worth I couldn't decide between a Demon logo and the monogram when that email came around. I've got no love for the current logo, but I'm not as violently opposed to it as some.
-
I quite like the monogram logo, but there's got to be a Demon involved somewhere - even if it's just on merch. Not violently opposed to the current one and feel like we've got better things to spend money on than changing it BUT I'd also like to obliterate everything that reminds me of 2012/13.

Up there in the empty promises rankings with the free Mars Bar for everyone in Australia if Carlton made the Grand Final.
-
Hopefully they don't run into anybody from Opel at a German business function.
-
They could merge two and put Tassie into the open slot but good luck getting Hawthorn to exit Tasmania while they're making millions out of it. Having said that I wouldn't put it past the AFL to do a screwjob deal with the Tassie government behind Hawthorn and North's back to give them a team if that's what they really wanted - which I'm not sure they do.

Training - Monday 16th December, 2013
Supermercado replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I need to hear another perspective on the allegation in Jim Stynes' book that the players cancelled a training run because they CBF. If that's an example of what they were up to then no bloody wonder they didn't get fit. -

Took our second most contested marks last year despite only playing 12 games. Was more than happy with his performances in a vile team when he got on the park. And really, since when has 20 counted as a 'high' pick? -
How did anyone allow the Bears to have such a pissweak logo? Even the Swan looks tough in comparison.

Rookie listing your delisted player
Supermercado replied to Carlos Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
The only reason we did it with Newton and Meesen is because they were under contract and we had to agree to draft them back (unless somebody else got in first) to clear them onto the rookie list. Juice did later make it back to the senior list for what it's worth. -
Is he really? I know this article (http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2012-10-31/dees-elevate-nicholson-evans-) doesn't have any details of his contract length, but given the amount of wacky contractual deals that Neeld did (and that his co-elevatee is still contracted) I just guessed that he got two years. If this is true... chop!

This is the list... there is no one else.

So we're going to finish 8th? Wicked. -
Anyone can sell a sponsorship, it's about selling it for a decent price. I'm sure if we rolled over and gave it away for nothing (imagine what Linen House's marketing budget is. An online linen store?) then we could attract all sorts of rinky dinky businesses. Maybe that's how we ended up with Opel and Webjet in the first place, but we've got a good two months to find something at a reasonable price before we have to let panic set in and take whoever will associate themselves with us. Bring back China Southern. What an appropriately shonky brand to be involved with.

There used to be a clip on YouTube of the first round of that draft (probably still is, CBF searching for it) where they're focused on Green and waiting for him to get selected from about pick six onwards. Maybe we just got lucky on that one? Also I'd argue that while Wheatley was handy he'd probably be copping hell on here as a #20 pick these days.
-
Please somebody we're not expected to win against. I can't take going in with hope again like the last two years. Is the Western Derby a cert for Round 1? If not I'll take Freo at Subi and get that out of the way - hopefully with an honest loss instead of a full scale beating.
-
The oddest thing is that he averaged more than a goal a game despite seemingly having no idea.
-
I want to know how much $ in hand we get for the second game. Don't want to hear it's part of anything else, I just want cash money. Must say I did expect to be sent to Cairns to do the AFL's bidding there, so this is not a huge surprise. Next stop, Norfolk Island.
