Tony Shaw pointed out on the replay.. there was a moment where he ran past to receive a handball and somebody fluffed it and put it out on the ground in front of him, an opponent approached and he had little support close-by.. he knew he would get there first and so he dived and knocked it on (instead of taking possession and probably getting caught), absorbing a blow, knowing it would either go out for a ball-in and hence save the Lions who had players around running it back into their 50, or he would get a free in the back, which is what happened. So in the end he took a turnover situation into his own kick. Just a little clever thing that there is no stat for, and the vast majority don't have the capacity for.

Morton can play a number of roles and do them all well, the term 'team balance' doesn't apply to him as his presence actually helps fill wherever it may that be there is an imbalance, even when this imbalance only becomes apparent during the course of the match. He's a good weapon to have, and I agree that we will see him floating forward a lot more when he comes back

I think you are right, get used to the idea that the media will give more recognition to NN than they will to any of our lads for their entire careers Trenners is a year behind him and is the player you would prefer to have by so, so much IMO

Sorry all I know this has been done a number of times, but can someone give me the facts... What year will he be up for draft? Is he a lock to come to Melbourne? Is he really a no.1 favourite? If he is one of the best and we nab him for free in the middle of the compromised drafts, where good sides are getting their first picks in the early twenties, that will be one hell of a nice little bonus Scully, Trengove, Jones, Moloney, Gysberts, McKenzie, Morton, Grimes, Blease, Sylvia and maybe this kid. That is is some seriously good stuff in the midfield mix. Surely nobody else comes close to that cattle gong forward.
