  2. why anyone would bag connolly is beyond me, everyone at the club reckons he is the dogs bollocks and if you've seen him in action at club functions you would have to agree. Schwarz credits him as one of the main reasons things are starting to happen at the club
  3. Surprised this post hasn't got more attention.. a couple of you have defensively slagged it but it is not a common occurrence for someone who is a Melbourne supporter to just make this kind of comment up for fun. Can you elaborate please 'dees'?
  4. This is obviously fantastic, but we better get used to the idea that over the next 5 years we are going to be going through a lot of nervous times, as we have a heap of talent that many sides, not just GC and GWS) are going to be trying to get their grubby hands on. Odds are we will lose one or two of them, the ones who just love money too much
  5. me either here's three names that didn't dominate at VFL level: Grimes, Jurrah, Bail
  6. I am with you also.. I have been asking for a long time exactly what Rivers has done to be revered as some sort of club legend
  7. everyone who knows anything knows he is a magnificent talent and that players like him usually take a while to come on, especially since he is bottom-aged. Have a look at pick #2 Scott Gumbleton who played 5 games in his first 3 years. The extremely overrated NikNat doesn't have a single bloody thing to do with it either. Just be PATIENT FFS
  8. what the hell was easy about his goals, what about that one from about 55 out in traffic.. maybe a dozen blokes in the league could kick that
  9. we should be happy to get anywhere near them really not without a chance though, the big key forwards have always found it easy to kick bags on us for as long as I can remember, time for Frawley and KnockKnock to prove they are the real McCoy defenders we all hope they are
  10. I hate it when Melbourne plays at the same time as Casey, you get stuff all info about it. Bring back the curtain raisers!
  11. Watts, Morton, Jurrah all to come in.. plus Ozzie, Maric and Jetta as smalls, then maybe Martin or PJ spending time in there. I'm not worried about what we have in the cupboard, over the next couple of years we will get it sorted well
  12. The big dark guy with the funny haircut will get it They like showing him on TV
  13. yes but maybe not by 55 points basically on the strength of one quarter clearly we are a class above them and a few others but we obviously have to beat the Saints before you get excited
  14. still 'tracking according to plan' Rhino?
  15. not calling you full of it, at all, I have heard this sentiment before. I don't get it though... surely we are not the only club in the comp who has the foresight to accept we are getting a bloke that is going to take a long time to recover. Similar things were said about Grimes, sliding from possible top 5 to 14. Why would all the other recruiters put a line through a player just because his first year of AFL footy is going to be in recovery mode? Seems extremely short-sighted and just plain dumb. All I know about Gawn is obviosuly that he is HUGE and displays a great amount of mobility for that size. That right there makes him a very promising recruit so I wouldn't be surprised if he was rated top 10. Particularly since there were stuff all other ruckmen in this draft
  16. rubbish! I am no Newton fan but sheesh let the bloke have a go
  17. I agree with the rest, this bit is the only part the really responds to what I asked North = very solid success in the last couple of decades = on their death bed Tigers = as bad a few decades as you could imagine = still going strong Obviously winning a flag will help us, but it is not the be-all-and-end-all of the matter, we could win several and still end up in the poo like North, or we could prosper despite not getting the ultimate success due to securing our finances in other ways I agree there is definitely an argument that you need $$$ to win a flag these days. Collingwood is the only side that disproves the theory, although the Hawks weren't exactly Bill Gates UNTIL they won it and the wheels fell off the bandwagon. Geelong got their act together quite well, helped mainly by their awesome stadium deal and maybe that was the catalyst for their success. Freo, on the other hand, are as rich as anyone and they have a pathetic record. Tough question.
  18. why don't you answer his question? then explain the relationship between off-field survival and on-field success with regard to the recent history of Richmond and North we could get a flag in the next 5 years, we could not. It won't be the only factor involved in our survival
  19. looks like Sylvia for Scully for mine the only other question is Newton for Spencer
  20. any thoughts on the issue or is this a typo discussion site? I will be pretty surprised if JS makes it, but then again I have considered Jamar to be a giant dud his whole career. It just took about 7 years for him to come good
