How will you celebrate a Dees' flag?
Curry & Beer replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
because i'm not going to be a [censored] who changes sides and i love footy so i have no choice but to simply endure it. That's what supporting this club has become, something we all must endure like some sick punishment. -
well if we were playing Carlton tomorrow I would be expecting an almighty flogging, put it that way. The mind boggles thinking how Judd and Murphy will destroy us, they are the champion midfielders you are supposed to draft and develop with picks in the top 3. They have a number of other stars all over the park as a result of their years in the doldrums, and are genuine flag contenders this year. Then there's us. With similar drafting gifts, albeit a couple of years behind, we have not been able to take advantage like they have. They got Kruezer in 2007 and we got Cale Morton who in his fifth year cannot even get a game in a truly ordinary side. There is no excuse for that, of course many simpletons here want to believe we picked the wrong bloke, even though it was widely recognised that he may have even been a no.1 pick that year as the top 5 was very strong - but Morton is at the wrong club, he would probably be running around dominating if the Blues had picked him instead of Kruezer. That is why we do not have one champion player on the list, it's because there is something wrong with our culture, our methods, our staff, I don't know what, it probably has a lot to do with money. The fact that Judd is their captain when he friggin barracked for us and could have gone anywhere is a fact that tells you everything you need to know about the big fish and little fish of modern footy. If anything exposes what a failure we are as a club it is the success of Carlton .

will never happen, we will fold first we are miles behind the big boys and the gap just keeps widening -
I was telling it to a bunch of smug Lions supporters in the MCC last week. I know I wouldnt be smiling if my club folded and i then got to see a bastardised ineterstate version of them a couple of times a year at the G

yeah Watts is always having those 30 possession games
-
how can anyone say that - McLean, Sylvia, Watts, Morton, Trengove and Scully were all taken with the exact picks they were expected to be give or take a spot or two. It is obvious to me that most of these guys would have been stars at other clubs but our development SUCKS.

we are 5 years into a rebuild that has featured a huge amount of high draft picks. yet all of us know for certain what is going to happen this week and we are paying 9.00 in a 2-horse race i look forward to demonland's trademark 'blame the senior players' discussion that has been going on since 2006, with an entirely different group of senior players

No Nonsense Neeld ... Let the Fallout Begin.
Curry & Beer replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
it's not like Buddy Franklin is pushing for selection. If he sticks to his guns and drops a bunch of them he has to bring some extremely ordinary footballers, and you would expect next week's result to read extraordinary bad as a result. It's already going to be bad but we're talking baaaaad. He's not in a good spot. -

Five things we learned from round one
Curry & Beer replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
1.melbourne takes a dump in your heart at round 1 every year 2.change the training facilities, the coach, the support staff, even the players, same old melbourne 3.trengove/grimes captaincy massive fail. Supposed elite rebuild is an abject failure, watts, morton, mckenzie, jurrah, frawley, none of the above 4.our supporters are gutless 5.financially speaking we are dead men walking well actually i didnt learn those things i aleady knew them -
yep the flogging was the best part
-
wtf are you smoking OP do you think Malthouse and Neeld just had the luxury of a great list at Collingwood, that is clearly not the case, the fact is they DEVELOPED them into a great side. We have absolutely zero excuse as our drafting opportunities have been in the top 2-3 in the competition over the last 5 years or so. Somethinh about this club just stinks, there is never any PASSION around the place, and thats what keeps us the laughing stock of the comp I have a 10 year 'gold' membership that I have not renewed. I will not do so nor will I attend any matches until this club shows something. I have had an absolute gutfull.

'will the same 22 travel to Perth? Not on your life. Am I going to go down a similar road and continue to put blind faith in players? No way, absolutely no way. That's fair enough, that's not a threat, that's not anything other than being honest, and that's what the players were told.'
-
the problem is, if he drops all the weak, heartless spuds out there today, who will be lining up for next week's smashing? a bunch of casey battlers, thats who good luck neeld
-
He held the club to ransom for a massive five year deal. Most of you cretins were in total support of him for this. Lo and behold, with that contract in place, he has given such a tiny amount of effort since then it is a disgrace to the jumper

Melbourne v Brisbane - Pre-Match Discussion
Curry & Beer replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
interesting that Cale Morton isn't even a blip on anyone's radar at the moment hugely disappointing for an athletically-priveleged, multi-positional, 5th-year number 4 draft pick still if I was nEEld i would be demanding a lengthy patch of solid form in the twos before even entertaining it -

'But I just felt tough nut McLean offered up more, as he could also play inside in the middle, and many were disappointed when he exited after season 2009, mainly because they felt he was to be the next Melbourne captain' Pft. One decent season and stuff all for the rest of his career.
