  1. sorry all for the incomplete thread.. something stuffed up and then I got distracted Just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on how we will fare this year in the midfield - it's fair to say we were pretty awful this year, even with Beamer having quite a fine year. To top it off we've lost Scully! Unfortunately I can't see a lot of improvement in that list, Jones is capable of going up another cog and I already rate him. And yeah, Davey is not an onballer, you have to get your hands dirty to be one. No disrespect to him but he has never been that type of player. We should continue to use him off HB, although everyone figured out long ago how to nullify him in this role. Very interesting to see what effect having a (should have been) back-to-back premiership midfield coach at the helm will have
  2. bail blease gysberts trengove sylvia moloney mckenzie jones
  3. Hi all just wondering if anyone knows the story regarding Jack Viney - what is his current agreement with the club and what does that mean for his season 2012? I s he going to play with Casey? When he is recruited is it going to be with one of the Scully compo picks or what? Thanks in advance
  4. I can't begrudge any supporter having negative views in light of the last 47 years. At the end of 2010 we were all pretty optimistic but look what happened again this year - more failure. Everyone loved the appointment of Bailey, everyone knew McLean was going to be a star of the comp. The same is happening now with Neeld and Trengove. Of course I'm positive with the poaching of Clark, but the track record of things not working out for this club has to be recognised and for that I respect those that don't jump into elation with news like this, it's called realism.
  5. MItch Clark + Pick 8 and 9 (ish) for Scully + Pick 12 works out OK in my book when you consider we have a good midfield group and Scully's potential injury issues go dees
  6. Yeah if he pulls his finger out he is capable of winning our BnF and finishing 9th in the brownlow
  7. I remember a praccy match down at Casey, this bloke got a free and lined up about 35 out in front, I am always interested in a player's first kick- he proceeded to roost it on the full with one of the worst kicks I have ever seen, and I coached an under-10s side. Haven't seen anything from him since that was an improvement on that. There's a reason you go that deep in the draft, a very good reason
  8. well they already know what our strengths and weaknesses are, they have things called opposition analysts. It's not going to take long to realise what his masterplan is, like NAb cup round 1
  9. all the things that Neeld has said, and that have been said about him, have been fantastic. However, I have been following this particular football club way too long to raise any expectation whatsoever until the day I see them playing consistently passionate and competent football even with Bailey we saw it for half a season and then it disappeared I would have liked to hear some comments from Neeld about what is actually wrong with the side and exactly how he intends to fix it. He's not the first guy to start at a new club and say he wants the team to be hard
  10. I would have thought they could have done Neeld the favour of letting him finish off a back-to-back campaign he has sweated over by just telling him he can start in 2 weeks. Pretty straightforward really.
  11. does anyone else find it very strange we have appointed Neeld today, meaning he has to walk away from Collingwood immediately? He has been a key member of the coaching staff for 6 months on a premiership campaign, and is going to disappear when they are 2 games from a possible flag? Why didn't we make arrangements with him to start his tenure just after the grand final so he could finish up the season at the Pies? How does Collingwood feel about this?
  12. hahah what a surprise, another no-name looking to step up to the big time. What round will he be sacked in about 4 years and who will be caretaker pathetic Melbourne
  13. pft, it has shown us that where there smoke there is fire, as many of us said from the start. When McGuire opened his gob on MMM 6 months ago he was bang on the money
  14. also the fact we were paid over the odds was clear to me that the AFL knows they shafted us, and are making up for it..partially... even if nobody really expected it to turn out that way when the rules were made i'll take a couple of picks around 10 for our underwhelming, injury-prone number 1
  15. Scully must be a complete tool. Fair enough to anyone that doesn't want to drink but to go home like that he must the ultimate little condescending wowser beeyatch. Probably wasn't the most popular bloke around the club after that.
  16. well geez I feel a little bit better afer reading this from the HUn "Melbourne's two first-round selections consist of a pick halfway through the opening round of draft, and a pick after its own selection in the year they activate the pick. So if the Demons used them next year and finished ninth, they would use the mid-round pick at selection 10, then get their normal pick at 11, then use their second compensation pick at 12. It is major victory for Melbourne, which now has strong options to replace Scully." and then this: LEADING sports medico Dr Peter Larkins has warned Greater Western Sydney's $6 million investment in Tom Scully is an "enormous gamble". Larkins is adamant Scully's knee issue will significantly affect his chances of playing a full season in any of the next six years. "I'd be really surprised if he was able to put out 20 games a season for six seasons in a row for that club," Larkins said. "I can't see 120 games over six years, based on the fact he played 10 out of 22 this year." "It's turned out the original injury, which has resulted in some bone being removed from his kneecap, has changed the shape of his knee," Larkins said. "He now has an issue ... as he gets stronger and bigger he can only put more stress on the knee. "As you get older, knee injuries only get worse ... they don't get better." "We're not talking about a bloke who's had a medial ligament in a knee or an AC joint in the shoulder ... we're talking about a cartilage-related, stress loading problem."
  17. not to mention has done absolutely zilch as a midfielder bar about 5 minutes in a preseason game once
  18. let's just say I felt a lot better about Jurrah, Morton and Tom Scully 12 months ago
  19. you must be feeling a bit of a [censored] after telling us all year how honouorable the kid is and that we were all being sucked in to media hype few wasted posts there eh
  20. yep, it's time to do some drastic things sack the coach, get a fresh face and get him to assemble his own team of coaches and gameplan turnover the entire administration also make various changes to our VFL affiliation, facilities, sponsorship etc delist all the old blokes and the not-quite-rights, replace them with high draft picks oh wait we already did all that between 2007 and 2011 any other ideas?
  21. Moloney Trengove Bate McKenzie Frawley Martin
  22. If we had won today we would have finished ninth and gotten our first pick in the draft at number 20. By losing today we have pick 12. So good work Cale Morton, Colin Garland for gifting two goals in the last few minutes, Jack Fitzpatrick and Sam Blease for two of the worst performances you will ever see in your life and of course, Brad 'Captain's goal' Green good riddance 2010
