  1. they just wring every last drop out don't they pathetic
  2. the pies lost 3 games last year, all of them to the cats. we're missing 9 of our best 22. don't expect any new members tonight.
  3. for the statistically minded, I am always amazed at how often polls like this form a perfect bell curve. Beautiful. 5 wins the expectation. When is the 2nd half poll going up? It is a lot rosier, I am going with 8 for that half, totalling 13.. what is a finals par score this year? great work BTW to the threadmaker
  4. lol, let's just see if this is actually 2 weeks or an 'MFC-fortnight' which is usually a couple of months 32 games in 3 years, yes let's give him the captaincy shall we, nevermind the fact he appears to be made of crepe paper oh well at least we have the good old 'interrupted pre-season' disclaimer if he has a disappointing year ah Melbourne, our motto should be 'stuffing things up since 1965'
  5. If you want to know why we are behind Carlton look at our use of top5 picks compared to them Judd (was worth 2 picks) Murphy, Kruezer, Gibbs, Walker Watts, McLean, Sylvia, Trengove, Scully, Morton
  6. not at the MFC, this is the club where extremely average players like Bate get to 100 games because of what passes for 'really good'
  7. yes you are right. The top sides have midfielders like Pendlebury, Mitchell, Judd, Selwood, Murphy etc.. I am sure we can match it with them with superstar Bate lining up in the middle
  8. if we'd won both games by 10 goals, you'd be telling us all just how impoertant it was and that we will finish top 4
  9. apparently most here are happy to excuse the effort citing the weather and the nab cup format. miles away from the top, that is clear
  10. surely you jest? did not do a single positive thing all night, succeeded mostly in gifting the opposition the football
  11. we sucked can anyone recall a single passage of play that impressed them? I can,t business as usual down at the MFC
  12. good example of statistical anomaly you have 4 essential washups worth 1000 odd games between them. This is not typical of any other list.
  13. with some of the stuff that gets 'moderated' around here, I find it appalling that apparently there is no problem with using the site as a vessel to personally denigrate one of our finest players, whom by all accounts is a fantastic bloke also. If it makes you feel better about yourself because he gets to play footy and you don't, that's your problem. Poor form, threadmaker.
  14. it seems we got in to get our bounty just in time.. however as I posted recently McLean F (Gysberts ?) Sylvia B Trengove A Scully F (picks 10+11 ish ?) Watts B? Morton D? we didn't come out of it looking so rosy
  15. stastitics? or indicators of a trend? why are we underprepared for the beginning of the season every single year? we have drawn the side that finished 15th with 4 wins in 2011. No excuses this time.
  16. in 2010 we smashed Sydney by 80-something at the G, about r17.. we then had the same matchup 5 AFL games later and could only manage a draw
  17. gee I hate some of the statements on here that are simply wrong - Moloney and Rivers came first and second in the B+F, how is that 'not putting in'? and how exactly did Grimes 'put in' when he wasn't even on the park, and Clark not even at the club? as far Bartram - six years at the club and one top-10 finish (8th in 2008), that's certainly not what I call pulling your weight! Beamer basically had 3 years written off with injury, in the other 4 years he finished 4th,2nd,7th and 1st - and it is without dispute that he is a devout and vocal clubman on and off the field and has never taken a backward step in his career - THAT is putting in!
  18. some people in this thread need a head examination we are the MFC, we don't win in round 1 no matter what r1 2006 def by Carlton 21 points r1 2007 def by Saints 31 points r1 2008 def by Hawthorn 104 points r1 2009 def by North 41 points r1 2010 def by Hawthorn 56 points r1 2011 drew with Sydney
  19. whatever way you look at it, the MFC obviously does not have a great deal of respect for the title of 'leader' , given it has just shafted its captain and vice capt/best and fairest/best clubman in favour of two hyped kids that may or may not become anything, and even if they do, are currently in no position to be standing in front of the blokes that have been there 5-10 years. Not to mention the inclusion of Clark and Bartram, both of whom have modest prospects and/or runs on the board. We could end up looking incredibly silly after this
  20. dead right. every time he shanks one the commentators say 'that was un-judd-like'.. I wonder if he does it for one third of his possesions does it become 'judd-like' ?
  21. Gysberts... not sold. Can't see him becoming an elite Morton a toal bust bust for mine The 2 picks could turn out to be a Jones and a Frawley, but in reality this is pretty unlikely
  22. that's 5 shots at the top 5 in a 7-year period, 6 including non-midfield Watts. Here is the other 29 top-5 picks from that period: Adam Cooney Andrew Walker Farren Ray Brett Deledio Jarryd Roughead Ryan Griffen Richard Tambling Lance Franklin Marc Murphy Dale Thomas Xavier Ellis Josh Kennedy Scott Pendlebury Bryce Gibbs Scott Gumbleton Lachlan Hansen Matthew Leuenberger Travis Boak Matthew Kreuzer Trent Cotchin Chris Masten Jarrad Grant Nic Naitanui Stephen Hill Hamish Hartlett Michael Hurley Dustin Martin Anthony Morabito Ben Cunnington wouldnt mind trading the McLean, Morton and Scully picks for 3 from that lot
  23. we were given every chance by the AFL to have built a superstar midfield, look how it turned out for us: 2003 pick 3 Sylvia 2003 pick 5 McLean 2007 pick 4 Morton 2009 pick 1 Scully 2009 pick 2 Trengove ouch
  24. typical melbourne supporter garbage. Hey, let's bag one of our only good players because he is not Chris Judd. I'd like to see you get rookie-drafted, overcome osteitis pubis, and become vice-captain/best and fairest winner/9th in the brownlow. ot to mention he is one of the toughest blokes in the league, which is a long-covete trait of many a melbourne supporter. IMHO it as an absolute disgrace that he has been shafted from the leadership group, makes me wonder WTF they are smoking.Neitz, White, Bruce, Green, Yze, Johnstone, McDonald.. it has always been the same with 'supporters' like you - no appreciation whatsoever for what they have done, just what they haven't done. There are about 6 blokes on the list that are doing their job, and Beamer is one of them. Why don't you make a thread about one of the other 35
