  1. I think Petterd's tweets are much wittier, I'd like to see how he went in the media. Maybe they could line him up to do something now he's injured.
  2. Keep the Spence I say. It's a development year lets see him ruck 60% of the game including time against Brogan. Put Jamar in the ruck for 40% and Full forward for 40%. Leave the Spence on the bench when he isn't in the ruck. Also guys apparently Struass is in Yuendumu with Jurrah and others. Explains why he is an emergency instead of others who might deserve a game more (also probably means Jetta and Dunn are the real emergencies).
  3. Not as silly as you put it. I think one's weight would definitely affect how long you are out of the game for. Hopefully whatever it is slowing him up they get it 100% right the first time around.I'm interested in Blease's recovery. I don't know enough about what happens when you train on a old broken leg. I presume you get some pretty bad aching and a bit of inflammation can flare up again and this is probably what happened with Blease. So the management is probably more rest for a while to let it all work itself out. Regarding Blease, rumour is the villian now resides on the North rookie list.
  4. I don't think its at all related to attitude off the field, to me he just seems to be a laconic type on the field who can often be playing a good game but then zone out a bit and let an opponent have an easy goal. I've played with players like this before even at local level.I'm pretty keen for TMac to play AFL though. Every time I see him despite not being 100% sold I'm impressed. I want him out there (and Strauss as well). Bugger Bruce, Joel Mac, Rivers and Cheney!
  5. Taylor Walker (Adel) - Would incredibly gladly give up our second pick (which should be somewhere mid 20's?). Play him full forward in a team that should be half decent, get the ball in quick and he'll kick 50 goals. Also has enough size and physicality to take the heat from Watts and Jurrah. Chris Dawes (Coll) - Would gladly give up our second pick (which should be somewhere mid 20's?) Jesse White (Swans) - I'm not sure about this guy. I don't think he offers enough as a forward. He'd be a nice pick up to back up ruck and play forward for us, but most premiership teams have 2 legitimate ruckman and big forwards. Mitch Thorp (VFL) - The club have already had one look at him, obviously he wasn't amazing, but who knows by the end of the year. Justin Westhoff (Port) - I'm tempted to just say no without any proper explanation. MCKINLEY, Ben (WC) - No, just a medium sized forward with dodgy accuracy DOWLER, Beau (Hawks) - Maybe, very hard to value. Wouldn't want to give too much for him. Rhys Stanley (StKilda) - Haven't seen enough of him to comment Ryan GAMBLE (Geelong) - 184cm, no better than Petterd, Jurrah, Green, Sylvia, Bate. I'd probably have him for a last round pick or rookie
  6. I don't believe in this flying the flag rubbish. Jack's not a small boy, let him deal with it if its just one clown, exceptions being if its Barry Hall or some other unit. If its more than one jump in but we should only use players getting into Jack for our benefit and not give away soft frees. The more Jack and anyone else reacts the more they will do it week after week especially if it puts him off his game.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Dunn was the emergency who didn't play for us. Which in a way makes him even more stiff if Miller walks in ahead of him. But I've noticed Bailey generally likes to drop blokes for a few weeks, then bring them back in when they've got the form, and at senior level likes to give them at least 2 weeks to find their form. So Dunn has areas to address at Casey before he comes back.
  8. Ballantyne also had a go at pulling Harry O's hair on Friday night did he not? I don't mind it. Because I don't like Harry, and I think Nason looks like a tool and Mitchell is only trying to help him realise that. Some of the above comments are calling Mitchell a girl for pulling hair, but do we want him suspended because of it. Also it doesn't count as a dog act for mine. Having a go at someones family, or race or religion is a dog act. A low blow or a cheap shot when someone isn't looking is a dog act.
  9. The argument for playing Miller is that he improves the development of the rest of the team more so than compromises it by being out there. He can then get cut as Jurrah and Petterd come back to the side. At the moment our marking targets up forward are Green, Bate, Hughes and Watts, and the resting ruckman. I'd be happy for Miller or Newton to replace Bate (if injured), Hughes or play as the resting ruckman. I don't really think we are playing short of marking options (they are certainly undersized) but just not playing well enough.
  10. I've got no problem playing Wona in Darwin. I'm pretty sure he'll perform as the hometown hero. If we ever play a premiership match in Ringwood or wherever Gysberts is from then we'll give him a free pass into the team too.
  11. GAME PLAN. Forward pressure - Midfield pressure - turnovers or easy ball from the backline - corridor footy - half forwards, full forwards. YESTERDAY. No pressure - WC getting easy, deep and hard to defend forward entry, resulting in pressure on defenders and midfielders to get the ball out (resulting in not enough attacking play and too much sidewards crap), resulting in everyone moving up the ground, resulting in no forward line when we do win the ball back. It's all related to other parts of the game. The way we played in our wins this year combined with an improving forward line will see us kick plenty of scores.
  12. He's too slow and his disposal isn't better than Bartram's, I can't believe the footy department gave him another contract. I'm willing to write him off as a spud. I'll be waiting to be proved right or wrong.
  13. Wonaeamirri is a moral to play this week. They'll probably chuck Jetta in as well (Sylvia could have a week off if the hammy is no good, or a week at Casey). Sounds like Macdonald deserves to come in, especially if Bruce is injured. Morton is too good for the VFL. A trip to Darwin must be the perfect time to give Trengove or Scully a week off, and probably isn't the ideal match to bring Gysberts into. I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, multiple changes generally don't do much (ie. Richmond dropping 6 most weeks). It will be a very tough week at selection. I'm hoping they pick guys who will 1. work very hard with increased pressure 2. Take the game on 3. Aren't PJ.
  14. Titan I think the fitness (and also his size) are the reasons he is up the ground. Plenty to look forward to with Jack.
  15. Definitely can't carry him purely as a loose defender. If he's in the team there has to be a matchup for him (and for Warnock, Garland and Frawley as well). Otherwise bring in Macdonald, Strauss or MacNamara. The second two (and probably Cheney who I don't rate) need to be played more to continue investing in the future.
  16. Great to see you posting on here Cam. Don't want to derail the thread too much but a little piece on the club website about Tapscott and where he is at would be greatly appreciated from my point of view, especially now he is no longer listed as indefinite. Gotta get Burgatron doing something! As for Watts, I think we should all chill out and see what he can do against WC. Even in his games last year (which have so unfairly been criticized as bad performances) he showed some glimpses of some amazing talent. Hopefully he can just keep building throughout this year and what better place to start than at a pumped up MCG.
  17. Great depth: Morton, Gysberts, Strauss, Bail, Wona, Jetta, Not sure: Macdonald, Dunn, Maric, McNamara, Cheney Years away: Spencer Bad Depth: Bell, Newton, Miller, Healey Plenty still to come as well.
  18. How does Lynden Dunn have a deal for 2011, wouldn't that mean we gave him a 2 year deal before the end of last year? Surely we wouldn't have given him a 3 year before the start of 2009. It's crazy if he does. Surely as the last 3 to sign on last year Cheney, Bartram and McNamara only got one year deals?
  19. I think Strauss and Bennell will get more time on half back flanks and back pockets as the time comes. If they don't and we remain with Bartram its not the worst thing. In a good side Bartram is probably decent enough to win a flag (is he really much worse than Steven Baker for StKilda). There is nothing slow about Grimes either, he went practically step for step with Rioli last year. We might need to draft another quick small defender specialist because I'm not keen on Cheney (think he lacks the speed for AFL and the size to play on taller players) and if McNamara is going to make it is off a half back flank. Warnock, Frawley, Garland, Bartram and Grimes are the 5 guys who are comfortable as deep defenders at this stage.
  20. I'm keen to see how they fare in the brownlow and especially the bluey. I feel Brownlow votes are hard to come by without a reputation, but as number 1+2 draft picks they might be a chance to grab a few. I certainly hope we manage to get votes in our close losses to Collingwoood and WB. So far in our wins this year - Brisbane game should see Trengove in the votes, Richmond - maybe Sylvia, Adelaide - Frawley and McDonald. And in our close losses to Collingwood - Davey and Petterd, WB - Scully.
  21. Pretty sure he didn't play, but I have no idea why.
  22. Not Cheney, he's a spud, just a poor version of Grimes. Cheney doesn't have the size for talls or the speed for smalls. I want Grimes in the team, but I want Strauss as well because long term he is the dangerous kick that good teams have.
  23. He'll never be the most amazing kick, we need to accept that. He is the most amazing player at getting to contests, winning the ball and making the right decisions, he hardly ever picks the wrong option by hand or foot. Despite some poor kicking he is most certainly a wet weather footballer, just like Scully and Trengove the class rose to the top. Garland's kick in was particularly poor (out of bounds off the side of the boot). Frawley's aren't great, and I'm scared when Bruce goes to pick up the ball (or Warnock, or Bartram or Rivers for that matter). Hopefully Strauss can get back into the side soon, he was certainly going ok before illness stopped him from playing in the VFL this week.
  24. This Spencer review sounds like a Jamar review from a few years ago. The Spence is still 20 years old, by the time he is Jamar's age at 26 he might be a good AFL player, we have to remember that. He'll never be an amazing user of the ball, but he's taller than Jamar at around 204cm and could be a very strong unit.Very happy about Watts, Morton, Gysberts and Wonaeamirri. Would love to see Tommy Mac given a go in Rivers' position (as well as Strauss in Bartrams). Cheney I have little time for at AFL level. From what I've seen from Maric at AFL level he's looked a player, but his VFL reviews almost get worse by the week. Very disappointing. My mail is Wona will play up in Darwin if anywhere near fit or near selection. Base on his game today, it is possible he could have a good one next week and have 'earnt' selection?
  25. His handballing isn't great, but he makes up for that with often good defensive work and strong running to provide an option. His kicking has always been with a high drop, they just used to go through! Grimes has a complete different technique, but is similar in the way he can have off nights.Fantastic game last night, keep it up Brucey.
