  1. Well Baguley, Howlett, Hibberd, Matt Jones and Dean Terlich were all ok last night. Those bombers played against our best. How are our worst players meant to best good state league players
  2. If you are playing for Melbourne would you have faith in Neeld. I'm not sure I would. I'd like that he's making everyone train harder but his game plan and his lack of empathy for the players would kill me. Oh and if you don't obey you'll find yourself at Geelong, Richmond, North, Brisbane or West Coast. That sounds pretty good to me.
  3. Frawleys first half was good and he tried to take the game on because he had no simple options. Then in the second half he ran out of confidence and will. I bet watching gillies get goal after goal kicked on him he probably thought if he could play his true position at full back he would've stopped them. That and if his midfield just did anything at all to help
  4. To be honest with the state of our midfield I'd consider playing 2 ruckman so at least they are fresh. It's not like the ball comes forward anyway so don't worry about forward pressure. Jamar's first quarter besides the inexplicable chest drop was actually good. Which says all you need to know about him
  5. The first quarter we actually tried. Result was 6 goals to one. And I think we were a touch unlucky not to be closer. But the rest of the game we didnt try completely. Plus the coach and others should have made some improvement over summer, not made things worse. The players are bad, but not 140 points and barely try bad. Heck it was only 50 at half time. We lost the second half by 90 points. That is beyond a joke
  6. If the AFL are true to their word about wanting 18 teams and Melbourne as part of that then they should invest in Schwab out and cook in. They'd save millions long term.
  7. If gillies turns up ill be damned. Troy Davis or Strauss or jetta with garland tall anyone is worth a go over gillies. Pedersen forward and sellar back would do me as well. And then watts. I'm 50/50 if he's turning up to play but even if he I don't know what to do with him. If he does boxing or tackling at training ill be damned. I'd re recruit moloney just to get him to belt him a couple of times. I'd ask him if he wants to play afl. Unless you got a manly response id send him to casey
  8. They lost by 140. The second half many did absolutely nothing. 7 freaking tackles in the third quarter. And against essendon! Should we sit idly by as that happens? Some of our players are young. Some are devoid of confidence. Others devoid of talent. But too many show no effort or passion. Boo's are more than appropriate.
  9. Opponent probably had 30 touches and he was better last week but he has a go. Don't exactly have many doing that
  10. Was ok in patches and a nice fluke goal. Still on the soft and unfit side, but not much different to his brother. Was the best in our impossible forward line as in its impossible to get a kick in. If he was a true footballer and leader he'd be on a half back flank in the trenches. But for what he can deliver he was ok
  11. They put him on Watson at one stage in the third quarter. Result was predictable. Another Melbourne player who'd make a half decent sub for a bottom 8 team at best
  12. Would be an absolute stunning effort if he did. Maybe with misson he could be convinced we have the ability for fitness but I feel like he'd need a CEO and a recruiter of his choice to get warm. He'd then need new assistance and a bunch of players. How could you be convinced these blokes can offer anything.
  13. the coaches association must step in. Whether its neelds fault or not he is degrading the association. We need to appoint (and Mick m would of been perfect) an independent reviewer and mentor for Neeld for the rest of the season. Maybe even 2 people. If Roos won't coach again pick him. Otherwise get Leigh Matthews as a sounding board to sit in the box and provide no input except debriefing. Then get someone else as a club reviewer. Maybe that can be Greg Healy, otherwise James McDonald would be brilliant to come in and just observe everything. He should be both independent and a Melbourne person who will stick around. No more Gary lyon
  14. Wasn't hopeless. Joins a long list of Melbourne footballers who get worse the longer their careers go. Oh and highlights the ineptitude of the coaches who put Nicholson in ahead of him in round 1. Besides gillies and probably sellar every Melbourne player who played tonight has been a very good afl player at one time or another. Terlich, Matt Jones, Viney and Toumpas will now enjoy seeing their talent rot.
  15. Simplistic but that's the idea. We've got simple footballers. And essendon made more errors to us at half time. Neeld is right, mistakes don't matter nearly as much as poor effort. Ask yourself at 1/4 where you that disappointed, to be honest I wasnt. We are a hopeless team but if we compete its a bloody start
  16. No more excuses for Neeld. Game plan has to go. It simply doesn't work. Scrap players who aren't fit or hard or trying. Build confidence. Keep the ball in the backline and share it around. Rotate players around the ground to develop their skills. Play dean kent and fake an injury for Magner ffs!
  17. It's the modern game. All players have to have a spell or they blow up and can't even run in the last quarter. Now I like the idea of the interchange cap, AFL shouldn't be ice hockey. But we need to do something to stop in becoming a game only able to be played by elite distance runners. Cap the rotations at 80 and keep the game sped up at perpetual motion and it won't be the sport we love. Think of all the time the rule changes have taken out of the game - Kick ins, ball ups around the ground, boundary throw ins, free kicks, kicking for goal. There used to be plenty of opportunity for blokes to grab 20 seconds rest which makes all the difference when you take them all away. They should put the natural breaks back in the game and stop pressuring it to speed up and then make the game faster at other times by not playing silly soft free kicks that just stop the game flowing.
  18. Every chance taggert and Tynan play VFL reserves this week by the look at the team. Yay for Melbourne recruiting and development
  19. What's the matchups for gillies anyway. He either gets crameri or Ryder/bellchambers. Crameri will torch him with endurance whilst the other two will be way too good one on one.
  20. Surely jetta would be of more use than Nicholson! Not sure what Davey can give compared to kent and would have both as subs anyway. Gillies is a joke, why not give watts an opponent or Troy Davis a chance. And the other option is pedersen is a better forward than sellar, why not leave pedersen in and move sellar to chb. I think the team balance is better this week. But the 22 it's not of superior quality. I would of stuck with Rodan, he's got a big body and takes the game on.
  21. Check this dude out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbaYqcMMZ6A He's looking for a job now as well! Next MFC coach?
  22. Firstly its sad you have to leave the club. I bet you love footy just like us. Secondly sorry I've paid out on your bro. However you know and understand the context at the footy club more than we do so you probably hate them more than us! Unless I'm calling a player flat right lazy most of the time I'm attacking whats happened to them in the context of how they are coached. Thirdly with regards to your tell all I'd say don't get yourself in legal trouble and don't get Col in trouble but besides from that if you are a true fan for the club you may as well stand up for what you believe in and if you feel that it should be out in the open then it makes sense to me. Or PM me all the juicy bits!
  23. Throwing Toumpas in with Watts, Tapscott and Strauss is unfair. Toumpas has displayed his ability to win the ball in the SANFL and at underage level. Tapscott was just a nice burly forward prospect, Strauss was a half back flanker and Watts a CHF who was quick and had nice skills. Sure he didn't set the world on fire IN HIS FIRST game but there is no reason why he can't be a star midfielder. He won't be a 100% clearance type like Wines but he might still be the better player. In recent grand finals the best player hasn't always been the clearance bull. Hannebery was damn unlucky not to win a norm smith same goes for Jason gram. Dale Thomas kept Collingwood from losing a grand final. Brendan Goddard nearly won one for the saints. I'll be damned if we dont lack outside midfielders as much as inside. We took the best player available. As for Trengove (get his name right please) he only has to be half the footballer that Martin is if he becomes a true leader of this club. His fellow Jack's (Viney and Grimes) played like ones on the weekend. We certainly wont get back into a respectable club with flash in the plan efforts and deserting players. Our recruiting mishaps have been widespread but I'm not convinced we stuffed these ones up. Wines was always going to try and make us look silly, he's a competitive beast. But Jimmy is no slouch so lets back the kid in.
  24. I disagree on this one. Players seem to be in appropriate spots. Sylvia is sweeping and is therefore on the defensive side of his opponent but making body coontact. Jones was probably the option if Jamar won the tap, again it would be a tap backwards to the wrong side for a right footer but he's not in a bad spot. It looks like Viney and Boak were both trying to read the ball and that Boak will get their first. Not so much a set up problem but an execution problem and what comes next will be the Port midfielders win the ball and spread way quicker and more effectively than we do. At half back Dunn is trailing Schultz but that is a reasonable place to be he's not too far behind. Up forward Byrnes is in front. They've got an extra man back so Pederson is playing between players. No we can't actually see the wings but yes I bet the melbourne players aren't in the right spots there. As to why their lose man comes into the bounce whilst ours sits back well that is a question for the coach.
  25. Frawley is just sick of playing in this crap, that what I see. Garland has taken to playing like Cam Bruce. No spirit or fight or courage in his game. He hospital handballs and kicks sideways and doesn't defend well anyway.
