I question Jones/Petterd- I think they will be lucky to get a game in 2010.

I agree totally- that is why I raised the topic- actually has anyone from the MFC stated we are taking Joel McDonald- or are we just going by media speculation. No mention on MFC website ever,
-
Just been announced and shows- Tenace & Thorp still with permission to train with us- http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...83/default.aspx I thought we only had one pick and that Joel McDonald was over the line. Also noticed Dylan Grimes training at Richmond Your thoughts ?

How many players will debut in Round 1?
jayceebee31 replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Scully eill only be a maximum of a fortnight behind - however he is that fit- it will take weeks for the others to catch up with him.Scully will play first up- I would even bet yours on it. -
Currently training with Port- sure to be picked up as a Rookie.

Great suggestion- when did he coach Gawn ?
-
Fair point- but who else would you have in your leadership group- anyone to groom?

WOW- WHAT A CHALLENGE- The first 3 picks from last year- we cannot judge them however I believe Watts showed enough as a tall- that he will be sensational in a few years. Blease along with Watts just turned 18 this year so both are like Draft 2009 recruits. Note both also went to school this year. Strauss was injured for most of the year. You mentioned Bennell & Jetta who performed well, Bail did not star, but looks OK. The star was Jurrah. I believe BP will go down in history as being the recruitor whom picked Jurrah.Recruiting is about trying to gain footballers to play for 5 to 10 years. Not many make it-I think several will from the 2008/9 drafts. Hope this satisfies your query

3 more years as he turned 15 in April, therefore 2012 Draft.
-
Got what I suggested we needed Rover-Scully Ruck rover type-Grysberts,Trengove Ruckman- Gawn Tall- Fitzpatrick Mid Tall Forward- Tapscott-(well - yes he is a small- but gee what a player. Barry & the team - WELL Done. A mid/ tall in 2010.

You are a [censored]- Eleven possible changes at the end of 2010. McNAMARA & CHENEY will definately be there. Garland ,unless his injury causes retirement will also be there. I believe there will no more than 7 leave.

Apart from Grimes, who would ypou have as part of ,say 6 leaders- I respect your opinion and I'd like to know who yopu would have ? thanks in anticipation

Very good points you raise- but we need to try, same as the Ox.

I was at Junction Oval this morning and was taslking about a ruck coach- David Loats was our part time coach last season, and to my knowledge has not been reappointed as yet and a name was mentioned to me that the club should consider Robert Campbell formally of the Hawks

I have just watched the highlights of this unbelievable big athlete. This young man could be anything- actually could end up a megaSTAR.Best recruit in this draft or at least the potential. Unbelievable- are our midfielders going to LOVE this hulk. Gawnie go and get them- after making sure your recovery is definate.
-
Please note I was not have a dig at you- actually the opposite, just explaininmg my point of view, like you superbly did

I understand that we do not have knowledge on whom will be in the leadership group, similar, to no idea to whom will be our draft picks. However, we raise topics so we all can have our thoughts. However, your guess is as good as anyone's. I think Bate has a good chance to be included.Moloney would make a great captain also- wears his heart on his sleeves for the red & the blue.

The reason we invested in our midfield!
jayceebee31 replied to sylvinator's topic in Melbourne Demons
The true reason we invested so heavily in this years draft on midfielders is--Scott West. He is now full time- not part time as last year. Able to oput everything into it. Great teacher. Think of the year Ratten was at the Dees,he really brouht them on & quickly. Therefore a great chance Westy will do the same -
Time to put our heads together to come up with a leadership group. Our Football club initially stated that Ball would be invaluable with our young group- However I believe we have good leaders now and are able to groom others. My leadership group is: Jnr McDonald,Davey, Green, Bruce, Moloney & Grimes. Who else do you see could step up into this group. Await you thoughts on who you believe should lead our team.

Forward/Kicking Coach to assist Mahoney.
jayceebee31 replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair comment, however, Rodney Eade took up his offer at the Bulldogs and I think he improved their kicking substantially. He has been there for two seasons now, so if he wasn't half decent- he would not have been kept on. -
Forward/Kicking Coach to assist Mahoney.
jayceebee31 replied to jayceebee31's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is blantally untrue I believe - I believe he said just before Gambling week - where he worked for the AFL in highlighting the problems with gambling he could not assist the Bulldogs at that time- however he assisted during the finals. I'm suggesting a part time roll on a needs assisted basis however he could be mentor re over the phone etc.. Things do not need to be face to face all the time.Ido realise he stated he could not take on a full time assistant voaching role. I know for a fact, because he told me so- that he had previously offered his services to Bailey just after he arrived. No harm asking is there ? -
I agree totally- we need someone like him but WHOM?
-
After the succesful draft and thinking about what we need to develop our list further- I looked back at what frustrated me most over the last two years and it was our kicking. David Schwarz was snapped up two years ago to assist the Bulldogs- and in particular Wil Minson. He had previously offered his services to the MFC football department but the offer was not taken up.David was an exceptional talent and a great kick.He played centre half-forward or full-forward and was touted as one of the games next superstars , taking more marks than Wayne Carey in 1994, kicking 9 goals straight against Sydney and with some breathtaking finals performances (including "that" blind turn against Carlton). Strong marking, agile and athletic, he was destined for superstardom until he suffered numerous knee injuries, playing only 2 games in 1995 and missing the entire 1996 season. Therefore he knows the pressure these young guys are under, and would be brilliant in assisting the current list with their kicking etc.. re Miller, Newton etc..and help the development talls in Watts, Fitzpatrick and co..He also could be a great mentor to Gawn getting over his knee at this time.So what about it MFC football department. Ox is a true Red and a Blue. I believe strongly he would jump at the chance if he got an offer of some sort.

Well stated Dappa- furthermore some players mature/ develop differently- talls do not seem to reach their peak until they are around 25/27. Therefore both need time. Furthermore Essendon flew Patrick down for an interview, didn't turn out fruitful. Actually it could be a major distraction to Jurrah, unsettle him if Patrick could not either cut the mustard or handle city life.- therefore not concentrating on own development instead of trying to help a relation.Let's bed down what we have got know. Their is ample skill and ability let's develop it.
