  1. Very good point- also he thought he'd get picked up by another AFL team. Not a very good judge our Robbo.
  2. I think Gooner has answered the financial queries quite well, and from a business perspective it is very important for any organisation that confidence and a positive factor ( profit) gives an underpinning to postive momentum thus foundation. Also, with the debt now only $1.1 million with a strong probability of a greater increase in profit underlies the growth and opportunities over the next five years. (it is usual for a board to look at a strategic plan over this timeframe). However, the costs of our training venues will have a greater impact. And do not forget we gain a $100,000 per home match starting next year as well as extra sponsorship money (Volvo-short sponsor). GO DEES GO.
  3. Just been reported that Robbo will be playing in the Gouburn Valley league. http://www.sheppnews.com.au/login.aspx?noa...rt_1131471.aspx I geniunely thought he'd give it up and develop a media career based on music.
  4. AGREE- we need an experienced tall forward,we cannot expect miracles out of Watts for a few years yet. Roughhead from Hawthorn would be ideal.
  5. In the six games he played for Casey 2nds he was most impressive, however , kicked allot of behinds. Got the ball which is the main thing. Got potential- worth persisting. However, as pointed out above, will really need to lift.Hughes- the club must see allot in him- may come on- but very doubtful.
  6. If some of you who does not think injuries has taken affect on our football team since 2007 ,please read this, http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/demon...from=public_rss and just look at the ones they emphasis -Bell -whom hasn't given a welp since 2007 due to injury for example and WOW- look at Moloney and his great improvement this year since getting over injury. Injuries have been a major factor,in particular to key players, - in my opinion to our current situation over the last two years along with over half our list has changed since this time.
  7. When did CFC take over the Lexus Centre- I thought it parallels with your point- in 2003.Maybe the change to Lexus Centre parallels also to us going to Casey. Another interesting factor is in 2002 & 2003 they finished 2nd, 2004-13th, 2005-15th ,2006-7th
  8. Jack- sincerely hope yor better for Xmas or at least the NewYear as we need a training report from you.Hope its not Swine Flu
  9. List management will never go away- it is the most strategic element of any club. However I do accept your pioints where our focus will dramatically change- that is why we have structured as we have and will fill the voids we see with basically our 3 mandatory picks each year. We may and most probably utilize our rookies by elevating some next year and beyond.
  10. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...33/default.aspx highlights the leadership skills of this young 20 year old whom has only played 12 games.
  11. Agree totally. As a member of the club, I was also highly delighted that our senior management of the club went up there two weeks ago .Jim Stynes ,our President whom has been very ill accompanied Liam and our coach umpired a match up there. This also will help the relationship and also show the younger ones that their is a very strong future in Aussie rules.
  12. This is also my understanding, however, we can raise our own topics ourselves. Ryan Larkin & Martin Cox wrote many topics over the last two years.
  13. Agree & noted, but I believe it. I have watched our pre seasons for nearly 20 years now and I have thought our last two were pathetic. This years has been brilliant so far. Better planned and executed.
  14. Some of you have enquired to where the camp was with regard to the sponsor- in just reading Demon HQ- Cam Schwab states- Thanks to Charlie and Glenda Lovick. Passionate Demons who gave our people an experience of a lifetime in the high country. One of the posts stated this earlier- just confirmation
  15. High Tower- as stated earlier I agree with your point- Grysberts looks tall- in the photos he looks at least 5/7cms tallet than Tengove. Also Bails mentioned he was 190 cms tall- this would be ideal if he was..
  16. thanks- it is great to keep us all notified to what is going on- even if it confirmation. I agree with Grimes- will turn out to be a beauty. We have a stack of quality young midfielders to develop .Great position for the club as some can play in other positions as well.I feel Grimes could make a star wingman. He has shown great attacking as well as defending skillls until he develops into a ruck rover. Great way of developing skills and stamina in a wingers role.
  17. I thought it was great to hear that Green & Warnock are in full training - I had not heard any thing mentioned about those two, heard that Jetta was training well but to also hear Bennell is going great guns( my word to it only) is great news. I think Bennell could develop into a great player whom may run through the centre after time.. I know John Turnball thinks he'll b a gun. Furthermore, confirmation that both Watts & Morton are developing and increasing their bulk is also brilliant.
  18. Very interesting to hear Bailey on Foxtel Thursday night state Jamar would or maybe used as a tall forward this year. Possibly changing on the forward line inter changing in the ruck instead of the bench.
  19. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...30/default.aspx shows all clubs . MELBOURNE Break starts: December 18 Return: January 4 Youngsters Colin Garland (foot stress fracture) and Sam Blease (leg) are progressing, but the club is taking a cautious approach with Garland's injury. Blease has been running and involved in handball/kicking drills. Brad Green (wrist) and Matthew Warnock (ankle) are back into training after their injuries shortened their 2009 seasons. Austin Wonaeamirri was training strongly until a hamstring injury set him back last week. Second-year Demons Jamie Bennell and Neville Jetta are also looking good on the track, and Cale Morton and Jack Watts have added five and six kilograms respectively. Jack Grimes is training with the midfield and looks set to spend further time there in 2010. Pity our own website (melbournefc ) cannot keep us up to date.
  20. So true- as well as he had the indigenous boys as well.
  21. I wonder what the role pertains as GM of commercial operations. Does Peter take over the role from John Poulakakis . Please advise
  22. That maybe so - but is irrellevant to this thread.
  23. Suggest to contact the club on Ph. (03) 9652 1111 PO Box 254 East Melbourne Victoria 8002 [email protected] after the 6th January whom will let you know where training is and even may get Liam to meet with you. Ask for Sarah Baker who will no doubt help you as much as she can.
  24. You maybe and most probably right- however it would not hurt to have a re think- is all I am recommending or requesting..
  25. In closing off this thread with regards to the finalised list this week, I analysed the lists and feel our major weakness is a tall experienced forward, in particular, since we made Newton a rookie. In looking at other lists we may or should look for someone similar to a O'hAilpin from Carlton, Reid or Dawes from Collingwood,Dowler or Lisle at Hawthorn or a Tom Lynch at St Kilda , although some of these players mentioned do not have seior Afl experience. The rest of the list seems very balanced with Backline, mids ,Rucks well & truthfully covered.
