  1. Blease & Strauss are quick-good point re tagger- maybe it is that good of a side we do not need a tagger- however got your point- McKenzie in -out whom ?
  2. I also agree that Prendergast has done well. However, will be very interesting to see how all will develop-in particular Fitzpatrick and Gryberts. Furthermore would not be surprised if Sheedy does not try to pirate him to GWS.
  3. I am glad we are all allowed our opinions- me included. And I take offence of your attitude,
  4. McLean was best on the ground in the 2003 TAC Grand final. That night it was a quagmire- he had smething like 34 possesions. His background as a junor -McLean was a graduate of the AIS/AFL academy, and member of the U18 International Rules team in 2003. He played TAC Cup football with the Calder Cannons. He was selected in the 2003 AFL National Draft by the Melbourne Football Club with its first round selection (#5 overall) and Melbourne's second selection overall, owing to a pick in the priority round. Whilst Gysberts background is-J Jordan Gysberts Height:188cm,still growing, they say he is now 189 cms.. Weight:83kg A smart footballer who can play forward or back, he is very efficient by hand and foot. Midfielder. Taken with Pick 11. __________________ His major claim to fame was earlier this year when he was voted best on the ground against South Africa- David Swallow(will be voted in the top 2 in next year's draft) was also voted one of the best-Jordan Gysberts was also a member of AIS and voted by Chris Connolly as the 4th best midfielder in this draft. Fri, Nov 27, 09 6:19 PM Tue 21 April, 2009THE AUSTRALIAN Under 17 side defeated the South Africa Lions on Monday while on tour in South Africa as a part of the AFL-AIS Academy program. The match was played at Boland Park in Paarl, north of Cape Town. Australia Under 17s 23.14 (152) South Africa Lions 3.2 (20) BEST Australia: Gysberts, Atley, Swallow, Lycett, Mott, May South Africa: Prinsloo, Sobetwa, Sifanelo, Boki, Xmasa, Motubu, Mitchell GOALS Australia: Mott 4, Stevens 4, Duncan 3, Stubbs 2, Atley 2, Hartigan 2, Crichton, Lycett, Nicholls, Gysberts, May, McDee South Africa: Jawe, Motubu, Malinga Although a one-sided match, spectators were impressed by the skill level and tenacity shown by both sides. The three goals scored by the South African side in the last quarter showed their determination and an impressive ability to run out a match. The Australian side played an attacking brand of football exhibiting some of the lessons learnt from the game against Williamstown on Saturday April 12. All players played their role in the win with Victoria’s Jordan Gysberts being awarded the man of the match at the post game function. The AFL-AIS Academy Squad has been in South Africa for the past eight days spreading the word of FootyWILD (the South African version of NAB AFL Auskick). There are over 17,000 participants across the South Africa playing Australian football. The squad will remain in Cape Town for the rest of the week before travelling to Perth to take on Peel Thunder as a curtain raiser to the Fremantle v Sydney Swans match on Saturday April 25 at Subiaco Oval.Exclusive to AFL BigPond Network, Therefore, by gee he can play. McLean slowed up due to the pace of the game and a badly injured ankle. Whether this improves this year we will have to see. However, major upside with Grysberts and I am glad he is with us
  5. I am not questioning that he is injured , but the original post states - broken hand- if that was correct surely he would be in plaster not having his wrist bandaged. Therefore we do not accurately know his injury for sure ! However accept your explanation as a fractured wrist.
  6. I think between the two of us we got the whole draft right. Rover- Scully Ruck rover/mids - Trengove- Gryberts Mid/ tall forward- well small forward but best player at pick 18- Tapscott Ruckman- Gawn Tall forward/ Ruckman - Fitzpatrick. Acheived our thoughts totally
  7. We don"t definately know because the MFC will not tell us re their website. We are guessing or listenening to possible rumours
  8. After the draft and sifting through our current list and new recruits I started to think what do we need to cover of the next few years. I made a team based on 40 or less games- a development team. Best Developing Team (40 or under) B: CHENEY WARNOCK MARTIN HB: BENNELL FRAWLEY STRAUSS C: McNAMARA GRIMES BLEASE HF: TAPSCOTT MORTON MARIC F: WONAEAMIRRI WATTS JURRAH R: GAWN TRENGOVE SCULLY I: PETTERD JETTA GARLAND SPENCER EMERG: MEESON FITZPATRICK NEWTON McKENZIE HEALEY HUGHES What I concluded is we need to recruit a top class tall back, tall forward, a top class winger and maybe a small/ medium back. This can happen over the next couple of years ,also upgrading our rookies. What do you think? Before you criticise- made Garland an interchanger as can play many postions.
  9. Yes- get your point but your companies shareholders would want to know.Whether or not an employee is sacked, hurt or whatever,it can have a huge bearing. Privacy in this case does not matter- as most of our opposition know anyhow
  10. I sat with Jack Fitzpatrick at Visy Park whilst we watched a prel final - a hell of a nice young man who is exceptionally confident he will go a long way. Extremely well liked by the Under 18 players.
  11. My point is keeping us informed- that is what the MFC WEBSITE SHOULD BE DOING.They are not. They have not, as stated gave us any update re training, injuries etc.. since starting on the 12th October. In the meantime, Garland, seems to have had a relapse, Meeson-ditto, Thorp- dunno- but reported to have broken ankle(doesn't matter know- as was not drafted.Hey, as a member I would like to know what is happening to my team. I am a shareholder. If it was a public company, one would be informed straight away,it is law to keep shareholders briefed if any changes. Our club doesn't keep us informed on the major stakeholder- assets- the PLAYERS. I'd like to know by theclub- how Wonaeamirri is going. ditto Blease. If you don't - bad luck- I do. Why have a website - if it does not keep us notified.
  12. B:Cheney Warnock Martin HB: Bennell Frawley Rivers C: Grimes Moloney Bruce HF: Green Morton Bate F: Davey Watts Jurrah R: Jamar Jones Scully I: Sylvia Jnr McDonald Dunn Petterd . Casey's best team taking into account this years list and 11 Casey players to play is: B Bail Faulkes Mohr HB: Strauss Wall Silvagni C: MaCreadie Grysbets Mathews HF: Waite Simpson Hughes F: Maric Newton Moore R: Spencer McKenzie Bartram I: Stockdale Panozza Johnson Bell EMERG: Healey Gawn Blease (tbc when fit ) Garland( tbc when fit ) Wonaeamirri(tbc - when fit)
  13. I had in mind someone like a Paul Salmon , especially now that we have got and in particular Fitzpatrick and Gawn.Another that hit my mind is a former employee- Darren Flanigan- if he could make time available as he is currently Football Manager at Dandenong Stingrays.
  14. Will turn out to be a near superstar- like an Andrew Mcleod -David Wirrapunda cross.
  15. After this draft- with the amount of midfielders and ruckman we have now - we need to invest in a first class ruck coach- Any suggestions?
  16. How does one get to Calder by public transport, The rest of your points do not add up- these other venues such as Visy park etc.. have major restictions due to a built up area.I ,if I was an entreprenuer would jump at the chance to hold say open air concerts at Casey.Your points whilst valid would not deter me. I may just try it to see.!
  17. As stated in my Communication Network topic- it was reported today on SEN that he has injured his ankle and will not be available for at least 8 weeks
  18. In revisiting one of my earlier topics due to the lack of information our MFC is giving us re our training, injuries etc. and the progress of the likes such as Blease, Garland,I'd like your thoughts.. This is also been highlighted with the rumour that Strauss has broken his arm and today I heard on SEN( Kevin Bartlett) that Thorp is injured and will miss at least 8 weeks. I now doubt that we or anyone will pick him up- but gee I think we should be told by our own website. We as members deserve to be updated. I'm very disappointed that after 6 weeks of training we are no wiser, except for the great work of Demonlanders or Ologists. I'm aware that Whispering Jack & George from the Outer will soon give us information, however I would have liked the MFC website to keep us abreast -- Your opinions?
  19. Always respect yours and other views- Why is it pie in the sky stuff- Buses could run to it, re pick up from Stations etc.. plenty of car space, under lights, may help to raise monies for seating for say 30 thousand, then we could hold NAB cup games continuously there as well as some low attendance matches. Please tell me where in the outer areas of eastern Melbourne close to Gippsland could we hold these type of entertainment. You stated there were more grounds with far better general transport and associated facilities. I challenge you -WHERE?
  20. I only wish--pick 50 would be great 14 year olds under age- But seriously don't you think we could hold entertainment acts at Casey. I think it would be ideal.
  21. Just read,http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/music/george-michael-to-tour-australia-but-will-not-be-playing-in-melbourne/story-e6frf9hf-1225803484744 where it states that George Michael will not be playing in Melbourne due to the NAB CUP. Is this something the club in conjunction with Casey Council could provide for all of us? What do you think?
  22. Sorry for lateness due to suspension, I think will be picked and not my picks however-I have been suspended to now 1-Scully 2- Trengove 11-Talia 18- Gawn 34- Griffiths 50- Thorp or Patrick 66- pass/PSD1- Joel McDonald.
  23. Whilst we all have our thoughts on whom we want in the draft- I think we have been extremely lucky to match up our wants & needs to whom is available. In summary to all the previous posts- I think we need a rover type- Scully, Ruck rover type- (someone whom can develop into a Ling type-Trengove, or maybe Joel McDonald, a versatile tall- Talia,Black orCarlisle type.a mid/tall forward -(LATE PICK-SAY 50-Temel,Patrick or Thorp. Lastly a ruckman-Gawn This could be acheived by picking 1 or 2 -Scully,1or2-Trengove.11-Talia,Black orCarlisle type,18-Ball or best available.34-Gawn,50- Temel,Patrick or Thorp. PSD-Joel McDonald This above may leave out Ball- whom,I believe the club is more interested for his leadership than playing contribution. When McLean left- I was happy- for reasons such as his injuries- he had slowed right down.I think Ball is as slow.Pick 18- may even pick up a fast moving player such as Lewis Jetta . Also, I think we have leadership to develop within- Davey, Green,Moloney,Sylvia and Bruce of our older players.Grimes & Frawley are definately suitable types to eventually captain our team. This also does not stop the club developing born leaders like Scully & Trengove as soon as they reach our club. It is my opinion that if we do gain Ball- it may actually be a bad thing for us- it may put noses out of joint and not install a positive workplace scenario. Barry and the team basically have concluded their's and basically will rubber stamp them once Scwabby & Bails return Wednesday. They have a meeting to fully finalise. What are your thoughts? Do you agree ? if not why?
